Why is it, that there is always someone cutting onions whenever i hear this? Any Time, Day or Night, on the Radio, on record, at work, closing time in a Pub . . . I can't help to get my eyes wet. And i'm not even the biggest Fan. She conquered our HEARTS with that Song. ❤❤❤THANK YOU, BETTE❤❤❤
Bette Midler- beautiful, stunning, absolutely exquisite. And of course THE ROSE a masterpiece that continues to touch hearts world wide. How can you not love this amazing lady? A true professional. Love you Bette, thanks for the music, the laughs. Your a true gem that just keeps shining. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Nobody has been able to sing this song as Bette Midler does. This song is timeless and the emotion in which she vocalizes this song will never be duplicated in my opinion.
@@writerinfact1768 yes, Janis does a great job, I totally agree, but I guess I just prefer the raspiness of Bette’s voice. Her voice gives the song just a tad bit more edge and sadness, in my opinion. Different interpretations and likes, it’s all good. Beautiful song
I am speechless really, I don't know how to praise this performance, there are no words to describe the charm of this. This is magically magical. I just found out the movie. I watched it when I was 7 or something when it was aired at late evening, then I forgot about it and could not find it for years. ChatGPT helped me to find the movie again. And I found out this performance. Oh my god. this performance is breathtaking, jawdropping, tearshedding and inspiring. For years I did not feel so inspired by music. To a point I almost believed music cannot work on me anymore. Thanks to this I was wrong. Bette you are amazing, amazing amazing woman. ************** If I could send you a thousand of hearts, a milion Roses, I would.
That is the most beautiful song ever recorded by a beautiful talented singer. Bette Midler just delivered a pure raw classy act, singers today could not perform like that absolutely unbelievable timeless.
I chose this song for my moms funeral,as her name was Rose. Any song with the word Rose she adored,Yellow rose of Texas,Rambling Rose,The Rose Crackeling Rosie, she loved this song.
Some say love, it is a river That drowns the tender reed Some say love, it is a razor That leaves your soul to bleed Some say love, it is a hunger An endless aching need I say love, it is a flower And you, its only seed It's the heart, afraid of breaking That never learns to dance It's the dream, afraid of waking That never takes the chance It's the one who won't be taken Who cannot seem to give And the soul, afraid of dying That never learns to live When the night has been too lonely And the road has been too long And you think that love is only For the lucky and the strong Just remember in the winter Far beneath the bitter snows Lies the seed that with the sun's love In the spring becomes the rose
Bette.... I'm a 64 year old gay man. I discovered you years ago when I found your HBO Special "Devine Madness" and I was changed forever. No performer has ever matched the magic you create on stage. Thanks for all the music, joy, comedy and tears.
She respects and love the dancer. Bette is one of the few who are not self centered. Dolly Parton is also like this. Singers who really cares about people! Bette and Dolly have my full respect! They are so good at what they are doing!
I watched the film ‘the rose’ when I was 18, I have sung this song to my children and to my grand children, I hope one day to sing it to my great grandchildren, and I think when the day comes It will be my funeral song xx
Vous avez tous raisons personne ne peut chantez cette chanson mieux qu' elle c est ca chanson elle est éternelle et chaque fois que je l écoute elle m amène toujours autant d émotion et de bien etre
I lost my dad nearly a month ago from dementia. I was lucky enough to be beside him in the last few days of his life. I miss him so much. This reminds me of him. ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
Love this lady! She is wonderful at interpreting any song. Her ability to do so brings the song to life. Not every singer can do this. Miss Bette can and does!🎤🥰🎼
Bette Midler, I love the song The Rose! Thank you for singing it and giving it special meaning. My friend, Rose, and I were goofing around on her karaoke microphone, when I decided to give it a shot and sang that song. Thank you Bette! God bless you.
Heather and Chuck and Tim! So sorry for Barb who has fought this battle for so long (10 years) !You are an angel in heaven now with mom and Dad and brother marty! Hugs to all when you get there!!
Loved writing poems of embrace as to the beauty we see blooming in many ways as the mountains the ocean...reflecting my deepest emotions for my family friends and best of all our hearts of which we can release "power of love" I lost my chance to give it as my hand lost its force to write Yet when I hear Bette singing "The Rose" I feel I still have that gift with every beat of my ❤

This is not only a song! This is something special! When I hear it, I have to stop working or something else and listen. With tears in my Eyes I turn the volume louder and listen. WONDERFUL!!!
I saw her in Seattle in 1999 and again in Tacoma, Wa. about 15 years later. She and her music are still relevant today. Touches your inner self and tells your story. TheDivine Miss M, keeps singing, we need your music
The Rose was written and sung by singer-songwriter, actress Amanda McBroom. It hit the charts when it was sung by the Divine Miss M for the movie by the same name. It was based loosely on the life of Janis Joplin. Bette Midler sung it so hauntingly beautiful. Nobody (imho) has performed it better not even the songwriter.
I first heard it on Radio in around 1979. Bette Midler. It was in the charts then. Fell in love with the song and the singer. Had never heard of her until then. I'm in Australia so different place. I'm also pretty sure that when I saw that movie, it was Called The Rose. Janice Joplin yes. Many movies have different names in different countries.
... I am so haunted by this song... its beauty and it is so surreal...always tears in my eyes listening to it ...beautiful and delicate... I saw the movie... when i was young... still same feelings listening to --The Rose--
Bette Miller, I absolutely LOVE YOU ❤. Love you as a singer, actress and comedy stand up routines 👌👍👏🎉. Thank for your talent 🌟. Blessings to everyone worldwide and stay safe against the Covid-19 virus 😷🦋
I was 16 years old and this song reminds me of my first love , my love for many years the father of my children, breaks my heart for all the wonderful memories, my husband pass 8 years a go and miss him so much , God Blessed
❤❤❤❤Hope” is commonly used to mean a wish : its strength is the strength of the person's desire. But in the Bible hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised and its strength is in His faithfulness.
Ronald Johnson, yes she has, and that is why so many people love her, I think she is the most beloved woman in show business, & the most loving, so many people have hurt her, & I don't know why they did, do they get their kicks off hurting her, they should think about her in more of a compassionate way.
For my beloved Fairy Child, whose precious heart now has arrows that missed their mark ... Hold close this Divine Winter song - to remind you that the Summer will again come. And with it, the Sun, to shine on our darling seed ~ who has been so brave and so strong for so very long. And she will see that she is, was, and always will be the magnificent rose with the purest of Souls, who we all love so very, very deeply 🌹
Had my near-death motorcycle accident here in New Zealand in 1990 when I was 26. My injuries were horrific. Ultimately I lost my entire left leg as high as possible; correct term is hemipelvectomy - my hip and left pelvis was amputated. Spent 3 weeks in the ICU [intensive care unit] of 2 hospitals and a total of 101 days in hospital. I suffered several serious internal injuries as well. Lost count of the number of scars. Ever since I have suffered chronic nerve pain [neuromas - groups of nerves] around the stump area even though there is no stump. Pain is controlled via an extreme cocktail of meds including the strongest legally prescribed opiates and a high dose. Tried everything to control the pain - you name it I've tried it. Currently I am attempting to wean off an anti depressant - this could be the start of a new 'me' hopefully. So to Bette Midler's song 'The Rose'. Yep...one of a very few that stirs my soul to the point of weeping. So Bette Midler - thank you thank you thank you for providing the BEST pain relief therapy of all. Your song stirs this germ's emotions to the limit. Love is indeed; THE ROSE.
