Not with the rate the dude dies early on. A tier for sure cause as you said the dude can and does out perform the others, WHEN HE STAYS ALIVE. In the new fellowship LL he's alot more survivable cause of the free blinding light from Frodo. Dude just dies to shooting way too much for him to be A tier. -Sean

@@lutzeichmeyer9338 I don't play him in the fellowship, I play him in Rivendell 😂. But whenever I verse the fellowship I kill him really early on before he can do anything. It's also just super easy to do aswell. -Sean

Yeah he's okay with another 80pt hero slapped on top 😂 Cirdan makes any hero a killer but he just helps Glorfindel be on par with the heroes around him that can do it without Cirdan. From memory Dori in the books is a little better off with Bilbo but man they really lean heavily on the movie the whole time except for Dori... Honestly all bofur needs is for his magic resist thing to be a bubble or even another model in base contact and he'd be S tier, his rule just serves no purpose otherwise, whose casting magic on a f4 hero -Liam

@@NoobsandMen fair call on the Glorfindel front, I still think that F7 and perma fortify spirit are awesome, but to be fair they do push him into a more reactive role instead of the more proactive killer role that other big elven lords can fill. Yeah in the books Dori is a lad to Bilbo, but you're right it is weird when they pull 75/25 films/books to theme the rules. I really like that Bofur's steadfast applies to special rules too, but I wish it was more useable. You're right maybe he should provide his steadfast rule to another hero or resistant to magic as you mentioned. Sad times for Bofur!

Any good player knows that left alone that elf can do a job. when we say he's not the intimidating is cause you can just chump block him for the whole game, and if you move correctly you can deny any useful heroic combats. His fortify spirit is not that amazing, at the end of the day your just telling me to cast at other heroes lessening the choices I have to make in game. So now instead of glorf being transfixed, his bogged down and your other hero is transfixed. Suddenly that's 2 hero's not doing much instead of 1. Him being Able to bog down monsters is a bit of fun but nothing special. Cool I can't barge him that's fine you wouldn't do that anyway, can't hurl him again fine you just hurl someone else in to glorf. Not being able to rend is rough but monsters still wounding you on 4s at S7 and if his trapped well 2 wins from that monster and good night. Everything else Elrond just does better, yes you have to pay a touch more. Ability to 2 hand, 4A on the charge, LOTW, he actually has magic, foresight for that priority protection, and reroll fate. Alot of comments keep talking about glorf and cirdian. Just run cirdian with elrond, does the same job but better. His D7, F7 and his 12' move is really good but still you can easily play without. Again he is good but just not cracked up to be what everyone says he is. If he was a bit cheaper then he would be absolutely amazing. ATM the way I see him is as a model that newer player would fall in love with, cause of a cool model and some really decent rules, like the balrog or a mumak. But again just not what he's all cracked up to be. -Sean

Ya, I mean the sentiment is fair and I take your point. He could Defs be slightly less cost or use a slight buff. I’m just saying I think his weakness is shared by most hero’s, so It seems many agree he is above the cut in terms of versatility. Elrond is a fair bit overpriced for me, and I think suffers from the same issues as glorf, the semi recent nerfs also don’t help him. Really don’t think Elrond is intimidating either, and can also be chump blocked. At least with extra move and fleetfoot, it’s harder to avoid glorf. They are similar profiles, glorf has the benefit of F7, M12 + Horselord/fleetfoot, and fortify spirit: while Elrond has the reroll fate, foresight and magic (anti monster and +1 spirits are situational and mostly on par). On paper you could say Elrond is better, but I find that the magic with 3 will isn’t that reliable, since you often need to resist, and foresight usually just gets counter moved, so you need to spend might anyway (unless you wait until they are out of might which can be risky). Reroll fate is solid but sometimes doesnt come into play or the dice spurn you anyways. For me the 7 is great for bolging, the M12 + horselord mean you have flexibility when movement is key, and keep your mount for longer, and fortify spirit is just great for keeping your bigger hero free. It just seems like many strong lists have shutdown magic to use. ideally you would run other heros with anti magic as well, but I would rather have a smaller hero transfixed than my mounted LOTW. For me I would go to those reliable stats more than the swingy magic and foresight, as well as almost getting a banner for the point difference. Cirdan is great with both but I think supplements glorf perfectly (wounding and army buffs) where as Elrond feels better paired with lindir for consistent magic use and resistance. Since elves are so expensive, the former pairing seems more economical as it gets you similar big elf lord and buffs, but for less. Your description of glorf is kinda how I view Elrond - can be an attractive pick for a new player over a leaner profile like glorf, except if it goes wrong you’ve now lost even more. But they are also close enough that it’s fair to say to each their own! Apologies for the essay haha.

But Bofur is THE bro in the movies, and a unit in combat there too. GW are always so wishy on whether or not they're going off the books or movies for stats and alliances etc.it's frustrating -Liam

A fix that makes sense is give him mighty hero. He has heroic strength and would have to choose between strike and str. Cost him appropriately and he is fixed. No reason he should be as weak as he is in game. I still use him and do well with him but he isnt good as he should be

Yeah we did forget about her aye. She is absolutely amazing added into a fellowship list. Our boy Riley runs an all-mounted fellowship with Arwen and it slaps. Solely on the back of a cheeky wrath, I'd say she is a solid A tier. -Sean

No one is forgetting his one okay rule and one not bad ability, but even you yourself admit d7 isn't hard to get through, sure the monster can't barge but it can still do some damage. And yeah the magic resist is nice, but who needs to transfix him when he's not even actually killing anything. I'm just not scared of Glorfindel at all. -Liam

Where I live the meta is pretty evenly split on using Elrond, Gil Galad and Glorfindel in Rivendel. I myself like Elrond best (playing last alliance) but it's pretty good balancing on GWs part that they are played equally. Very different from minas tirith where Boromir is everywhere but you never see Gandalf the white or Elessar.

@@NoobsandMen it says it on page 8 it says that Sméagol can only be in the Fellowship if it only contains Frodo and Sam

That just says the warband comprises only Sam and Frodo, not the army. they become their own warband and then you have warbands of the other heroes, He can absolutely be in the army with the rest of the gang. It does do some funky things with Bill tho so the only way to have smeagol and Bill in the same list is by taking barliman -Liam

I mean if you read the fellowship additional rules all it says is that "a fellowship warband comprises entirely of hero models" not that they have to be one warband like the Thorin's company rules say. It's pretty cut and dry honestly -Liam

Nah Erestor is way better than Glorfy, he's 100pts cheaper for starters and his throwing weapon helps him get that early hit as he comes in for free, all around a great dude
