The Last Alliance of Noobs and Men is in the underdog tier for credibility and knollege on the game, S+ tier for laughs and content .10/10 i love what you guys do
@@prestonrutherford4926 for lower points it's incredible and I've seen it win tournaments. Towards higher points it struggles because Helm is your only real hero of note
@@hunsler1006 my list is 600pts Helm, a Captain, and Kings Huntsman. 4 warriors with bow, 1 with banner, 2 outriders, 6 mounted royal guard, the the rest royal guard. 28-26 models can’t remember. All with throwing spears.
@@prestonrutherford4926 nice, that's a good points level for him, he will absolutely carve through horde armies (which are quite popular here in the UK as well)
Outraged at the lack of love for Grand Army of the South. Harbinger can be crucial, and Mumak striking against enemy leader - or combat so potentially a second trample in a round! I always have so, so much fun with it and end up top third at events - which for me is unheard of! Solid A tier :D
hear, hear grabs pitchfork! GAS is the best way to run Mumaks and having harbinger of evil is great. Still probably deserves B tier cuz Mumaks have a hard time with heavy terrain boards and have hard counters.
Hahaha sorry lads! It's just not quite up there with those A tier legions, still very fun and the way to run the list like we said but not enough bonuses to put it up with those big hitter legions -Liam
@@punchyMiddleEarth still can only do 1 damage per shot and we got a 6 up save from sigils now if you have a king of the dead or a dragon with breathe fire ....
Ya’ll need to read the Appendix, first Conquest, then you lads forgot Helm Hammerhand! How will I form an opinion on it if it’s not neatly stacked in a tier list??
I REALLY like Wolves of Isengard, but mostly from a themey standpoint. It is fun to play, however. It could have used some more punch. Maybe a wild warg chieftain and/throwing spears on character models. Some LLs just weren't designed to be super competitive and that's OK.
@@NoobsandMen Hey Liam, I get that. I just like fun armies that have interesting mechanics and minis. There's nothing wrong with competitive play at all. It's just not for me because I'm a raging a-hole.
I've only just started the Rohan section but I'm re igniting the beef. I don't know if nobody over here uses black gate properly but Ive played against it a bunch at events and literally never lost to it. Also defenders is fantastic. Potentially one of the most slept on legion. Theodreds guard has been terrorising the UK scene but mainly in the hands of Ali who happened to win the national League with it last year Edit: The utter disrespect for black riders is interesting. Y'all's meta entrigues me.
Black gate slaps hard here mate, don't show up alot but when it does boi it's a time. Just a shame we don't see the both theodreds guard and defenders alot. Nah bro black riders gets fucking railed over here haha.
@@NoobsandMen that's very interesting. Monsters in general seem to be a bit trash over here even megachief. But then magic if used well is just hideously oppressive. Think black riders aren't as scary in the UK as places like Germany make them out to be though. Those mainland Europeans hate the bloody things
Yeah saw that in a previous comment, some dude saying they are just incredibly OP. But over this side of the world they are no threat. Really makes me wonder about all the different metas around the world -Sean
@@NoobsandMen I think we consider our meta to be fairly fluffy still. Mostly green alliances and LLs. When you look at Europe in particularly Poland and Germany they ruddy love a red ally and cooking up crazy concoctions. I think they're the reason for both the shade and lady of light erratas
For someone new to the game it would be very helpful if you name the legion and not just say “the next legion on our list”. Of course it would be even more helpful if you would say (in one or two sentences) the core feature of that alliance. I guess for experienced players they just like to hear your take on their value in competitive play, but if you like to attract newer players as well, that would be helpful.
Yeah we're really not doing this for a particular audience tbh mate, we have fun making videos and that's about the extent of it. Old mate Jacob from Conquest does an absolutely incredible job at explaining concepts and going through factions for new players, we're just here for a laugh -Liam
@@NoobsandMen I see. Would just have been interesting to know which legion you are talking about. Guess I need to come back to your videos once I got a better understanding of the game
Love the Chanel. I disagree on your assessment of Lurtz’s scouts. It’s quite better than the lower score you gave it. An army of F4 Strength 4, 8” move; add the drum and you outpace cavalry. Strength 3 Uruk bows. It’s best at 500+
That's fair but also you could just take ugluks scouts and also get +1 to wound and +2 to wound with grishnak. Yes the heroes aren't as strong as lurtz on their own but together especially if you get an orc hero and an urukai hero in the same combat your killing stuff. Lurtz scouts is a LL that you only tajebif you don't have orc models to make ugluks scouts. -Sean
@@NoobsandMen In that case I would like your opinion :) I am about to play a local friendly tournament (2x400pt) where I was put in team with a new Harad player (Suladan, Chief, 6x Serpent rider, 8x spear and 16x bow haradrims) and I wanted to play the scout with him so I can move fast with his cavalry and his haradrim can spear support me after a round or two. At 400pt, I find difficult to know which scouts are the most effective : Lurtz scouts (Lurtz, Mauhur, 17 shield and 8 bow uruks + banner) or Ugluk (Ugluk, Mauhur, Grishnak, 12x orcs, 17x uruks) :) ?
@@ralexy999 That's a tough one, I feel that ugluks could be good there, more might, more models, the +1's to would, however having more "8 move in a doubles event like that can also help quite a lot. I assume there's no Legion restrictions at that event? doubles events here are usually restricted like that. I think I'd probably lean toward Ugluks in the end. -Liam
Great video guys. Personally I’d have put Riders of Éomer higher. I’ve had a good bit of success with them and have even beat Black Gate LL twice while using them. That -1 to enemies Duel roll is actually pretty clutch.
Played right any legion can be good. I think Eomer is where it should be still, Gandalf is just too expensive and doesn't do enough in that list even with the -1s once a game. Still solid, but not a tier material at all. -Liam
@@NoobsandMen Without Gandalf though I think Eomer struggles a wee bit, especially against trolls and bigger heroes. Wee transfix and I’m not so scared to throw Eomer in against a trolls etc. But yeah it’s nowhere near A tier but I think lower end of B is where it should be.
Yeah nah I'm not saying run that list without Gdaddy, but its just a very expensive list points wise for not a huge amount of gain realistically, but hey if you enjoy it that's genuinely the main thing! like we say alot, if you enjoy an army you'll always have a better time and do better than if you're not enjoying your army -Liam
Éomer's Riders is just a straight downgrade from just a regular Rohan list. Easily bottom of D tier. For a moderately useful, highly situational once per game buff, you have to trade... - S4 cav charges tablewide (rather than within 12" of Éomer) - Théoden, and his buffs to... - F4 D6 Royal Guard - Gamling /w Banner - Outriders - every other named hero except Erkenbrand - the ability to give Éomer an armored horse - the ability to take any aditional allies ...and to even get said buff, you are forced to take an overpriced Gandalf on Shadowfax as a tax, who doesn't even benefit from the (nerfed) +1S on the charge, since he doesn't get the Rohan keyword. No. Just no.
@@TylerHalcomb Warband 1 12/12 Shagrat, Captain of Cirith Ungol with Heavy armour; Shield of Cirtih Ungol; 3 Mordor Uruk-hai with Orc bow; Two-handed mace; 8 Mordor Uruk-hai with Shield; 1 Mordor Uruk-hai with Banner; Shield; ---- Warband 2 12/12 Gorbag, Orc Captain with Shield; 7 Orc Warrior with Shield; 4 Orc Warrior with Spear; 1 Orc Warrior with Banner; Shield; ---- Warband 3 0/0 Shelob ---- I use something like this, at 500. there's a couple spare points there for tinkering with spears and shield combos.
Defenders of helm's deep is so skirmishy, bows who can sit at the back, the rest are all throwing spears and Aragorn can heroic move and march to stay out of charge range every turn
Really enjoyed this lads and enjoyably to contrast it to the thoughts and meta in the UK. The black riders LL has been horrific for me to play against so was surprised but interested to hear your thoughts! Keep up the good work and good content.
I've had about a few games with the new Assault on Lothlorien LL at 800pts (list in comments) against a nice mix of armies, Corsairs, Rivendell, Iron Hills, new Dragon Emperor LL and Fiefdoms. They have an awful lot of potential. Very much a glass cannon though, low defence throughout the whole army. Against D6 and above your prowlers will probably want to piercing strike if you can't trap/outnumber them for the extra +'s which means they melt like a chocolate fireguard if you lose the fight... which will happen a lot since the vast majority of your troops are F3 or below. But if you do win, and you can take advantage of numbers they are like little angry tin openers. They are also just flat out really fun to use. It's my first time playing the named shamans and their spells separate or combined really do open up a lot of avenues for interesting play. Holding back a few spiders to keep that threat open along with a batswarm or two means your opponent has to be cautious with their heroes while the WWC's do the real work. Forcing ranged armies to come to you with a few goblin archers is always fun and with the constant +1 to wound they'll probably always pay for themselves if you position them well. For that reason I don't think it will suffer too much without march in the list. Anyway just some of my thoughts on them, they jumped right out as something cool to use. Sean could probably just transplant his 40 warg list straight into this with a few replacements of course and it would serve him really well. Far more bonuses to take advantage of at least since wargs don't take advantage of Angmars army bonus.
Sean's already looking at making a warg AOL hahaha I've gone for a lot more numbers focused AOL list, maxing warbands where ever I can. I play a he today and really can see the potential, I've just gotta get a few more games in to hone the list for sure but it's a fun list! -Liam
i like playing them but i am surprised you ranked the Rise of the Necromancer LL so high. there are several good counters (Khazad-Dum+ Thranduils Halls e.g.) and everything with high courage and/or elve blades will give you a hard time. its also one where you really have to know what you are doing.
This is absolutely true, but they're still an incredible army, and you can still beat armies like thrandaddy if you're playing right, seen it done plenty of times before! -Liam
interestingly enough in a recent tournament, i came second and beat both Khazad Dwarves and Thranduil's halls. my only loss at that tournament was Liam with those PJ Elves, but only 3-0 (he made a boo boo). also beat an angmar list and riders of theoden. versed a lot of high tier armies, had to play out of my skin, but got the reward for doing the right things. Maybe next time the nazgul are on the channel, the guys won't stiff me with a hard counter, and we can see what they can do. ;)
@@Nick02111989 I'm going to call BS on that. No way those Nazgul beat Thranduil, and Khazadum! Elf blades just wreck the Nazgul, and Dwarves are just such sturdy little nuggets! Unless you were versing bad players? Angmar as well!? Yeah nah.
what i like about this legion, is that it is interesting, and has some great rules, there are choices when taking it, and it hits like a truck! it has weaknesses to magic and shooting (lots of march though) but when it gets into combat it will wreck most things. morranons are already one of the most points efficient troops in the game, but now they can also get +1 to wound. it is also simple to play, for a new comer, but rewards the experienced player with the combos it can pull off. great list in all.
Great video! My take on some that I think you missed the mark. Drop BGO a slot. It power spikes nicely at 500-600pts but even then it aint all that and a bag of potato chips. Lurtzs scouts are high tier 3 or low tier two. The points you save with Mahur in Lurtzs scouts, and the fact you have a general you can throw around into combat a bit and the army all having the same move value make up for the lack of animosity and spears.
We just love the Beefy Chiefy too much I think, you might be right but we've seen it dominate tourneys before! Lurtz is exactly where it should be I think. It's obviously good to have that movement and that damage it can bring but it lacks the killing power Ugluks brings even with the better leader. If the legion had done a bit more to beef up Lurtz (expert shot or fight 6 would have been perfect given what he does in the movie) then it would bump up to A for sure -Liam
@@NoobsandMen I'm not sure lurtz having or not having an extra shot warrants a new tier hahaha. But I see the point. I have a lot of experience playing against both lists and I don't think theres much in it, but a fantastic all round list just the same. For me to have a slight disagreement on 2 slots is a miracle effort! Slowly but surely I'll mentally condition you into being my mouthpiece for the hobby Ahahaha.
@@judgejudyandexecutioner.5223 i don't like Lurtz's scouts, simply because it's boring. it's not much more than a buff to lurtz, which most would agree, he should just have natively. i think the placement of it is fair.
i like the BGO list, because it is a well designed and balanced list, that certainly packs a whollop in combat. it has weaknesses, and you have to sacrifice alot of other good options to get it.
@@NoobsandMen can't say that I have, but I also haven't heard anything at all about them winning or placing highly in a (serious) tournament. They'll still have swing matchups I'm sure, but they won't win it all. Which is what I expect from s tier.
You don't see them at tournaments cause 99% of people in the MESBG community aren't dick heads haha. The nerf has meant that other armies now have a chance but it's still a real slim chance even in objective based games -Sean
@@bobdown9092 @kevin van ravenswaaij certainly did. came 2nd. was actually hard to play with, as any game where you need more models to be somewhere, becomes quite a challenge. was fun to use though, and most of the feedback i got from opponents suggest they're fun to play against, cos unlike the vanquishers, you do actually get to play and wound things.
Do you mean the 800 we almost versed at a tournament or the Legion in general? Can't remember the exact list off the top of my head unfortunately! Just remember too many Ballistas and too many troops 😂 -Liam
@@NoobsandMen Yes the one you nearly versed in the tournament. Do you remember if it was just 2 Ballista, and just 1 or 2 bombs? (with the rest being the typical picks i.e- Captains, lots of Sword/Shields, a couple of crossbows). I have an 800pts tournament coming up in WA in August 😍
No Bombs in the list (though I reckon bombs are amazing for the sheer fun value) it was 3 captain's with just about maxed warbands one with sheilds, one with pikes and one with crossbows and 2 Ballistas. Something along those lines -Liam
@@NoobsandMen awesome, thats pretty close to what I've been looking at (for 800pts). Will be my second ever tournament, and will be tough to top the teams tournament we won recently (the first tournament I've ever played in). Killing a Balrog in the first 2 turns of a game (using Ballista of course) was a highlight!
Congratulations on the tournament win 1st time out mate, that's something not alot of ppl can't say they have done. Killing the balrog is always a damn good laugh. -Sean
Any list can do well with the right pilot, that's one of the great things about this game. However Ugluks has better tools and rules than Lurtz, just means more people can do better with it overall. A list winning first place doesn't always make it the better list -Liam
@@NoobsandMen We gotta love turning Helm into an absolute fucking monster that can take on legit any foe in the game. Plus throwing spears being spears is nice
One issue with your Army of the South. You have to take a Mumak which to me just hinders this list. And I agree that you would be better to take the original army.
@@NoobsandMen oh for sure. I've struggled to get it to work outside of freindly play. the conditions on the units you must include really hamstring this LL
Great video lads, would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Assault on Lothlorien list at different points. Looking to build one myself at 1,000 points but struggling with making it look competitive at that number
Army of the South is mostly really good if you grab the war leader and make him your army leader, that just makes him very hard to get around because taking down the Mumak without your leader is often impossible and those cancelled moves combined with free strikes makes your opponent burn might really hard.
@@muesliman100 yeah absolutely mate, its for sure solid, but just nothing special in terms of being a legion compared to others, its why I'm annoyed Dale got put higher given its the same thing, solid but nothing special 😄 -Liam
@@NoobsandMen yeah, the dale legion is solid sure, but it's very Meh and a no brainer. if you don't want girion, you take that Legion. that's boring design imo.
Dale isn't higher than low B Tier. It would get slapped soo hard by most if not all LLs in B tier or above. 🤣 Actually put it in f**k off with vanquishers... Justice for the Lothlorien/ Thranduil Ll!😂
Brooooooo you have never faced Dale have ya. They fuck hard and this LL just makes them even better as a faction. Top tier faction without a doubt. -Sean
@@NoobsandMen Only played against them the once and while their shooting was effective, a D6 block of infantry eventually smashed them off objectives. Having said that my buddy isn't a tournament winning Dale player like yourself, playing a Sean led Dale army is cause for concern 🤣 At least its better than the mixed Erebor LL!
It's not something we plan on doing. Even if we put the names on there's no way you'd be able to read them on Tierlist maker, images are far too small. If it's any help we talk about them in order of where they are in their respective supplement and in order of release of each supplement -Liam
