Where was this message in the late 90's when I was struggling with Calvinism philosophy that was dropped on me? I struggled with this for decades until I came across Chuck Missler's "Sovereignty of Man" presentation. Neither Calvinism or Armanism is totally correct, the truth lies weaved in the middle. God is sovereign, but God gives his people free will, but also consequences that go along with it. Ultimately mankind chooses sin, which is why we need a saviour who saves us fully by His grace, not by our works, so that no one can boast.

Did Christ Jesus came to set us free " but there are some Christians that don't want U to have your own freedom in Christ to do good deeds..so they question it .. U know that the Pharisees always question alot of things about. Jesus" U know some people have a response to the salvation message ... Like the unforgiving servant of Matthew 18:21-35 .. .. salvation is a free gift ..but it's our freedom of choice to choose to do good deeds or good things for all kinds of people even our enermies it's our freedom .... In 2019 we find ourselves having meaningless arguments about a certain doctrine .. and it goes around in circles .. non Christians look at the arguments " I wonder what they are thinking .. if a person decides in there heart to love the Lord with all there heart soul and strength and mind then let them ... If you're Response to the salvation message is to just believe and live the way U want or live like the devil .. then that's your freedom .. I know if my focus is on Christ Jesus and what he did at the cross .. then in this life I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me 👍

6:32 "The message of Calvinism is: "Believe to bear fruit", not "believe to be saved", because that's what their goal is. Their goal is: Let me look and see: do you have fruit? Because if you don't have fruit, you're not saved." That's a perfect description of a Paul Washer sermon.

fsdfmsbcxx Exactly. I dated a guy who I thought was a “good christian young man.” I deeply cared for him. But it turned out, he was a Calvinist. He was really into Paul washer and John Piper. I didn’t want to be decisive so I thought it would be ok. But then the fruit inspector in him came out. Every area of my life was found wanting as I told him it would be. Apparently I wasn’t “bearing enough fruit” quickly enough. So he decided I was unsaved. And he couldn’t be unequally yoked with a non-elect person. Thank the Lord he left. I just pray that he comes to the knowledge of the truth and gets really saved.

John MacArthur and other Lordship Salvationists are condemned by the very verses they quote in Matthew 7:21-23 and they don't even know it. They believe that those verses are "proof" that one can be a false believer by "not doing the will of the Father", but they fail to define the Will of the Father... In Verse 22, we see the condemned appealing to Jesus by LISTING THEIR WORKS THEY DID IN HIS NAME! So the question that begs to be answered if they did many wonderful works in Christ's name yet were rejected, how can anyone be accepted if John Mac and others are telling us to do the very things that Jesus said were INSUFFICIENT??? There were those who came to Jesus and asked Him what work they must do to inherit eternal life, and Jesus replied "This is the work of the Father, that ye believe on Him the Father has sent". This is why those in Matthew 7:21-23 were condemned. They NEVER trusted Christ for their salvation, but their works. Not once did they mention in verse 22 that they trusted Christ.

@@himynameisjohnwumsh7631 I know there is a problem with lordship salvation. Because if you're running around telling people they need to make Jesus the Lord and Master of their life in order to be saved or you're telling them you have to turn from your sin in order to be saved that is not biblical that is not what the Apostle Paul preaches the gospel is trusting in what Christ did a loan once you are saved you should flee that which is evil and cling to that which is good. But how you live your life is not what saves you it's all through what Christ did that saved you the problem is religious people today want to save themselves they don't want to trust in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and so they make void the gospel by trying to save themselves thinking that what they do will save their souls or keep their soul saved when in reality salvation is a free gift through Jesus Christ Our Lord I'm not against living for Jesus or doing good you should do good but doing good is not save your soul this is the problem with religion

I believe that by being born again we receive a perfect new nature from God. I've been through this myself. When I repented of all my sins, the Holy Spirit opened up my conscience. My heart was torn, and I have experienced a Divine sadness. I was drenched in tears! I begged for mercy, and then Christ set me free by His Spirit. Heaven tore open and an unbelievable power entered me. The Lord literally took up all my sins and cast them into a sea of everlasting forgetfulness. I got a new conscience! The sins I saw so clearly were gone. I dug in my conscience but couldn't find it anymore. The outpouring of His love, grace, peace, rest was Heavenly and inhuman. Not to be carried in an earthen vessel. I walked on a new Heaven and a new Earth for weeks. I literally experienced the peace and rest that will preserve your heart and senses. There was no longer a possibility to sin! And I believe that God's children will soon be standing before God in such a nature.

I had that experience as well. I was radically saved and transformed when I was born again. It was the miracle of my conversion which made my wife and son and daughter believe. The experience you describe of having been forgiven--I call that the spiritual revelation of grace or being washed white, but I think biblically you could call it justification. It is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit which most do not get privilege of experiencing. I've had probably 6 or 7 powerful outpourings/empowering fillings of the Holy Spirit and they were all miracles but that one was even more special. Pentecostals would call it the "baptism of the Holy Ghost" if it was evidenced by tongues, but I believe the same could be said for any genuine fruit of gift of the Spirit for it to be evidence of a special Holy Spirit baptism for power to witness.

Calvinism is the epitome of Satanic evil. Check out what the following Calvinist apologists had to say regarding sin and evil: 1) Loraine Boettner - "Even the fall of Adam, and through him the fall of the race, was not by chance or accident, but was so ordained in the secret counsels of God" - In his book, "The Reformed doctrine of Predestination, page 234 2) Jerom Sanchius - "Surely, if God had not willed the fall, He could, and no doubt would, have prevented it; but He did not prevent it: ergo, He willed it. And if He willed it, He certainly decreed it." - In his book, "The Doctrine of Absolute Predestination" page 88. 3) A.W. Pink - "Plainly it was God's will that sin should enter this world, otherwise it would not have entered, for nothing happens save as God has eternally decreed. Moreover, there was more than a bare permission, for God only permits that which He has purposed." In his book, "The Sovereignty of God" page 147, (1961). 4) A.W. Pink - "Not only did His omniscient eye see Adam eating of the forbidden fruit, but He decreed beforehand that he should do so." In his book, "The Sovereignty of God" page 249 5) Edwin Palmer - "It is even Biblical to say that God has foreordained sin. If sin was outside the plan of God, then not a single important affair of life would be ruled by God." In his book, "The 5 Points of Calvinism" page 82 6) William Shedd - "Nothing comes to pass contrary to his desire. Nothing happens by chance. Even moral evil, which He abhors and forbids, occurs "by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God." In his book, "Calvinism: Pure and Mixed, page 37, 1986. 7) J. Gresham Machen - "All things including even the wicked actions of wicked men and devils -- are brought to pass in accordance with God's eternal purpose." In his book, "Christian View of Man, page 46, 1965. 8) William Shedd - "Sin is one of the "whatsoevers" that have "come to pass", all of which are "ordained". In his book, "Calvinism" Pure and Mixed, page 31, 1986 Calvinism makes God the author of sin and evil thereby exonerating Satan and man and is a direct attack on the true nature and character of God. The "God" of Calvinism is not the same God of the Bible.

It’s helpful to hear him say “I can’t tell you what my salvation experience was..” as he goes on to explain being in his office and realizing that he’s believed wrong his whole life. As someone coming out of a life of Calvinism and Lordship teaching/believing as well - a recurring question I’ve had has to do with one’s day/time of salvation. I’m hearing things like “if you don’t have a specific date of salvation you probably haven’t been saved yet”. Many people can recall the very day and hour of their conversion with confidence shouting “that’s when I know i was saved!”. It just causes some confusion for me.

@jameshaynes5306 Exactly right!! My mother-in-law didn't know her birthday because her mom never told her, and didn't give her her birth certificate when she got married! My husband had to go to the records office in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico to find it. He was going to fix his own birth certificate, so I told him to find his mom's! Turns out that her mom registered her as a single mom! Her dad (who never took care of them, anyway) was not mentioned in her birth certificate, and she was only registered with her mom's maiden name!! That's the reason they couldn't find it!! At any rate, not knowing when you're born doesn't mean you're not born!! The same concept applies to salvation!!

I grew up in the south in a Pentecostal Church and it was very legalistic they would not have considered themselves calvinist by any means but there was a tremendous amount of fruit that was expected. People were always judging other people based upon their actions. If you say you got saved this week next week you were supposed to be a perfect role model.

Sermon is good as far as it goes but the real problem with Calvinism is very simple: it's blasphemous at its very core. The fundamental blasphemy is the claim that if God is not in absolute control of *everything* in the universe, then He is not sovereign and therefore cannot be God. Not only must this deny the existence of free will, by the same token it must automatically lead to the conclusion (which honest Calvinists often reach) that God Himself has to be responsible for sin. That's the inescapable end of the chain of reasoning and everything else, including the false gospel of back-end "lordship" [works] and God lying about who He really intends to save, flows from that satanic slander of His character.

People who embrace Calvinism/Lordship Salvation have no assurance of their salvation. They have to wait until AFTER they die to find out whether or not they "made it into the Kingdom". Here is what 2 of the biggest names in Calvinism/Lordship Salvation had to say about their "assurance" of salvation. RC Sproul and John Piper who are among the biggest names in Calvinism have no assurance of their salvation. Calvinist/Lordship Salvationist R.C. Sproul is known to express fear over whether or not he's "saved". Sproul stated in Table Talk Magazine, Nov 6, 1989, page 20, he says, "There are people in this world who are not saved, but who are convinced that they are. The presence of such people causes genuine Christians to doubt their salvation. After all, we wonder, suppose I am in that category? Suppose I am mistaken about my salvation and am really going to hell? How can I know that I am a real Christian?" "A while back I had one of those moments of acute self awareness that we have from time to time, and suddenly the question hits me: "R.C., what if you are not one of the redeemed?" What if your destiny is not heaven after all, but hell?" Let me tell you that I was flooded in my body with a chill that went from my head to the bottom of my spine. I was terrified." "I tried to grab hold of myself. I thought, "Well, it's a good sign that I'm worried about this. Only true Christians really care about salvation. But then I began to take stock of my life, and I looked at my performance. My sins came pouring into my mind, and the more I Iooked at myself, the worse I felt. I thought, "Maybe it's really true. Maybe I'm not saved after all." "I went to my room and began to read the Bible. On my knees I said, "Well here I am, I can't point to my obedience. There's nothing I can offer, I can only rely on Your atonement for my sins. I can only throw myself on Your mercy." Even then I knew that some people only flee to the cross to escape hell, not out of a real turning to God. I could not be sure about my own heart and motivation. Then I remembered John 6:68. Jesus had been giving out hard teaching, and many of His former followers had left Him. When He asked Peter if he was also going to leave, Peter said, "Where else can I go? Only You have the words of eternal life." In other words, Peter was also uncomfortable, but he realized that being uncomfortable with Jesus was better than any other option!" Then we have John Piper who also has doubts about whether or not he's saved and also regarding his congregation's uncertainty of their salvation. He made this statement in his sermon entitled, "Why God is not a megalomaniac in demanding to be worshiped" - Nov 20, 2008 in Providence, Rhode Island. Piper says, "I deal with this as much as anything, probably, in the people that I'm preaching to. "Fears and doubts, doubts not about objective "Did He rise from the dead?" - very few people are wrestling with that - but "Am I in? Am I saved?" That's very common for people to wrestle with." "But why I sin against my wife the same at age 62 that I did at age 42 causes me sometimes to doubt my salvation or the power of the Holy Spirit. - This question is not theoretical." My comment - The utter fear and uncertainty that Calvinism/Lordship Salvation produces in people who embrace this false doctrine regarding their assurance of their "salvation" can only intensify and drive them obsessively and compulsively to try even harder to "stop sinning" and to keep doing and doing "good works" in commitment, obedience, perseverance, faithfulness, etc, etc, in the hopes of "making it into the Kingdom at the very end". It literally becomes a vicious circle, much like a "bionic hamster" that keeps going and going, and going on that metal thing that they run on in their cages. It's utter insanity. It's obvious in Piper's and Sproul's minds that Jesus simple promise/simple truth of John 3:16, John 5:24, 6:47, John 10:28-29, Romans 8:38-39, is a subjective thing and not an objective one. It's always based on what they observe in themselves in their "evidence" of their faulty works, and not on Christ's perfect FINISHED WORK and guarantee of eternal life and eternal security. Calvinists/Lordship Salvationists are no different from the Puritans of long ago where many of them were in utter fear and anxiety on their deathbeds not knowing whether or not they are going to heaven.

They may want too, but that doesn't mean they will. Paul had this struggle. He said the thingst hat I want to do, I do not, and the things that I don't want to do, that I do, in Romans 7. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

I once fell into calvinism. Really, less about works but more about unconditional election etc. Here is the issue with that: If God's Sovereignty meant absolute control, the way they believe.. then man WOULD be with excuse. After all, if you were non-elect.. it would be UNJUST to hold them accountable in ANY WAY. After all, man being stricken with depravity.. our rebellion/sin, AND rejecting the Gospel would be ORDAINED by GOD. According to Calvinism, nobody can even RESIST God. Yet Stephen makes clear the Israelites kept RESISTING the Holy Spirit. So um, yes.. Humans CAN resist God. Not because God isn't all powerful, but because God MADE MAN with a WILL.. and does not violate it, as that would violate God's own decree for such. God IS Sovereign.. and in His Sovereignty, He decreed man to have agency and will.. I don't get why this is hard for many to grasp, this is the same God who created the heavens and the Earth with his words.

Hello, and good afternoon. If you've ever had the unfortunate..but potentially eye opening opportunity to interact with what the world calls a " narcissist" ..but the Bible calls a reprobate it might help to understand Calvinism,and any other work based plan of "salvation" . The narcissist can also be described as an hypocrite they're Actors. They're Liars. They're ultra arrogant. And they're ANTICHRIST Seeing that a Narcissist is wicked to the core by CHOICE and refuse to be held accountable for their actions it would only make sense for the man that came up with that DAMNABLE heresy to be arrogant and wicked Calvinism is a very very clever COUNTERFEIT Gospel..it appears "Christian" enough to draw unsuspecting folks in ,but at the root it's SATANIC.. Mark 8:33 (KJV) But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. Mark 7:6-8 (KJV) He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. That's what Calvinism is the Gospel according to MEN but to God be the glory that he pulled you out of that filthy disgusting wicked cult and opened your eyes to the truth

Hi my siblings. May I kindly ask you all something which I believe is important. Mustn't we stress to our brethren that: yes, we must repent of our sins consistently and avoid sinning, NOT to be saved, but out of our love and gratitude for Yahushua HaMashiach (Jesus) and because we decided to receive Him as the Lord of our life? It does sound like it is legalism if we repent and repent and avoid sinning, to be saved. Only Jesus saves; our own repentance and avoidance of sin cannot save us. Still, continually sinning and being a lukewarm Christian are good indicators that a person might not be a true Christian. So we use these to check ourselves. However, we must emphasize that we do this regular repentance and avoidance of sin NOT for salvation. Otherwise, we are not putting our faith solely on Christ's finished work on the cross. Yet, this is not a license to sin either. What do you think, my siblings? Can you please help me? I humbly ask this out of my love for all of you.

Edmark Lowell delos Santos Hi sibling 😁 . Some things that have helped me is to believe what Gods word says about me, my identity in Him. When I stumble and sin I come to God and thank him for what He has done for me and ask for help to walk in His spirit, to live out my true identity. From my understanding we are all at different stages of our sanctification therefore we should not doubt our simple faith or belief in Jesus and what he has done for us. We may have seasons in life where we sin more and are lukewarm but it’s about what Jesus has done not about what we can do.

The way i usually put it is this. If a Calvinist would use early church fathers to prove the existence of Jesus and his godhood like polycarp or clement instead of Calvin, then why would they believe Calvin over Polycarp or Clement about freewill theology? They were the ones who knew the apostles or at least students of them. Thats as close to the horses mouth as possible.

I used to be a Calvinist. If you are a Calvinist ask yourself three questions... 1. is the premise of the gospel salvation from the wrath of God? 2. Given the Calvinist view of predestination and election, was I (being "saved" or "elect") ever in danger of hell? 3. Taking into account "total inability" of man to believe and the Calvinist doctrine that salvation precedes faith, what must I do to be saved? If faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, and John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Could it be possible that God in his sovereignty decided that the conditions by which he would save whosoever is that they hear the gospel and believe it???

The following quotes come from eminent Calvinist apologists that show the connection that Calvinism has with Roman Catholicism. If you were to do your own research, the best you could do is go to history books, interview scholars and "theologians" in Calvinist and Roman Catholic circles, public libraries, journals, etc, but there is no way you can take a time machine to go back in time to verify your research. 1) Richard Muller - "John Calvin was part of a long line of thinkers who based their doctrine of predestination on the Augustinian interpretation of St. Paul." In his book, "Christ and the decree" 1988 page 22. 2) Alvin Baker - "There is hardly a doctrine of Calvin that does not bear the marks of Augustine's influence." In his book, "Berkouwer's Doctrine of Election: Balance or Imbalance" pg 25. 1981, 3) Gregg C. Singer - "The main features of Calvin's theology are found in the writings of St. Augustine to such an extent that many theologians regard Calvinism as a more full developed form of Augustinianism." In his book, "John Calvin: His roots and fruits" , 1989, pg. viii 4) B.B. Warfield - "The system of doctrine taught by Calvin is just the Augustinianism common to the whole body of the Reformers." In his book, "Calvin and Augustine", page 22, 1956. 5) Loraine Boettner - "Calvin and Augustine easily rank as the two outstanding systematic expounders of the Christian system since Saint Paul". In his book, "The Reformed Doctrine of Predestination" page 405, 1932. 6) John Calvin himself - "Augustine is so wholly with me, that if I wished to write a confession of my faith, I could do so with all fullness and satisfaction to myself out of his writings" In the book, "Calvin's Calvinism:"A treatise on the eternal predestination of God" written by John Calvin in 1552, Translated by Henry Cole, page 38, 1987. 7) B.B, Warfield - "Augustine is in a true sense the founder of Roman Catholicism" In his book, "Calvin and Augustine" page 313, 1956, It was Augustine who invented his own twisted interpretation of "PREDESTINATION/UNCONDITIONAL ELECTION" in his book, "City of God". Augustine states,"That owing to one man all pass into condemnation who are born of Adam unless they are born again in Christ, even as He has appointed them to be regenerated, before they die in the body, whom He predestinated to everlasting life, as the most merciful bestower of grace; whilst to those whom He has predestinated to eternal death, He is also the most righteous awarder of punishment." - "The City of God" On the Soul and its Origin - 4.16 Again, it was Augustine who invented "IRRESISTIBLE GRACE" in his book, "The City of God" - "On the predestination of the saints" -7, 8, 16. Augustine errantly believed that the will of God became the cause of all things - In his book, "City of God" - under "Enchiridion" - 95, 96, 100, 101. Augustine errantly believed "that no man is saved unless God wills it." In his book, "City of God" - under Enchiridion - 103. It was Augustine who invented what is now known today as the 5th point of Calvinism which is "PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS": Augustine states, "We, then, call men elected, and Christ's disciple's, and God's children, because they are to be so called whom, being regenerated, we see to live piously; but they are then truly what they are called IF they shall abide in that on account of which they are so called." In "City of God" - "On Rebuke and Grace" - 22. Augustine states, "It is, indeed, to be wondered at, and greatly to be wondered at, that to some of His own children--whom He has regenerated in Christ--to whom He has given FAITH, hope, love, God does not give PERSEVERANCE also." - In his book, "City of God" - "On Rebuke and Grace" - 18. Augustine states, "But they who fall and perish have never been in the number of the predestinated." - In his book, "City of God" - "On Rebuke and Grace" - 36. Augustine errantly believed that salvation can be lost and he taught that only those who are regenerated by God and PERSEVERE, or in those that have lost their salvation that only after they "persevere" that the grace of regeneration is restored, are finally saved. - In his book, "The History of Christian Doctrines" - Louis Berkof - page 136, 1937. Now, does that not sound like what Calvinism currently teaches? Augustine's version of "predestination", "irresistible grace", and "perseverance of the saints" sounds identical to what MacArthur, Piper, and what Sproul teaches which are 3 of the biggest names in Calvinism/Lordship Salvation today. Are they not? Is that not what Calvinism teaches? Calvin's idol was definitely Augustine.

Yes. It is only by faith that we are saved, nothing more. It is neither by works, nor can we keep our salvation by works. Once saved, always saved. It is by faith alone, by grace alone, and in Christ alone. However, if one claims to have faith in Jesus but cannot surrender his life to Him, despite Jesus commanding us to make Him our Lord, does he truly have faith in Jesus? Or does he trust/believe in himself rather than Jesus? If one trusts/believes in himself over Jesus, then most likely he keeps the control over his life, he cannot submit his life to Jesus because he does not trust Jesus. He trusts himself more. On the other hand, if someone GENUINELY trusts/believes/has faith in Jesus, then he allows Jesus to be the Lord over his life. God bless everyone.

John Calvin falsely taught that God is the author of sin and evil. 1) "Thieves and murderers, and other evildoers, are instruments of divine providence, being employed by the Lord himself to execute judgments which he has resolved to inflict." From Calvin's "Institutes of the Christian Religion" - Book 1, Chapter 17, Paragraph 5. 2) "The devil, and the whole train of the ungodly, are in all directions, held in by the hand of God as with a bridle, so that they can neither conceive any mischief, nor plan what they have conceived, nor how muchsoever they may have planned, move a single finger to perpetrate, unless in so far as he permits, NAY UNLESS IN SO FAR AS HE COMMANDS, THAT THEY ARE NOT ONLY BOUND BY HIS FETTERS BUT ARE EVEN FORCED TO DO HIM SERVICE." - John Calvin - Institutes of the Christian Religion, Book 1, Chapter 17, Paragraph 11. 3) "I admit that in this miserable condition wherein men are now bound, all of Adam's children have FALLEN BY GOD'S WILL." - John Calvin - Institutes of the Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 23, Paragraph 4. 4) "The first man fell because the Lord deemed it meet that he should." - John Calvin - Institutes of the Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter, 23, Paragraph 8

+daveme7 Your comment - "Yeah...if God does not change your life...am willing to bet that the person who sees no change in their living most likely was not born again(I will bet pushups). 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Also go look at James 2" My comment - A person can come to know Christ today by faith alone in Christ alone apart from works, then tomorrow be involved in a tragic car accident that leaves the person permanently paralyzed full body for the rest of his/her life where the person cannot exhibit any change, but is still eternally saved for all eternity. The context of Ephesians 2:10 KJV clearly teaches that good works are a "should do" after salvation. It is not a "must do" or an "automatic will do". Also, there are people in society who were former prostitutes, gang members, drug addicts, alcoholics, etc who have experienced a "life change" after spending time in prison, BUT are not Christian and sometimes these people exist side by side with Christians that are saved. In my city there was once a notorious gang leader who terrorized the city back in the late 1960's and early 1970's - murder, extortion, and other illegal activities. This person was finally arrested and spent years in prison and when this person finished the prison sentence he had a "life change". This person is no longer a gang leader, but over time became a college professor with a Ph.D, is married, has children that are in college and is doing pretty well financially, BUT this person is not a Christian. There are people in society who experienced "life change", BUT are devout Roman Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Buddhists, philanthropists, humanitarianists, martial artists, yoga practitioners, etc. Are these saved people? NO.
@wtom04
@wtom04 8 лет назад
daveme7 Again, good works is not an accurate indicator of whether one is saved or not. The acid test to determine whether one is saved or not lies in their DOCTRINE. It's not the "fruit" or the "works", but it is the root. What do they believe? Many devout Calvinists/Lordship Salvationists, Arminianists, Roman Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses do good works, but are these saved people? NO. Why? Because they believe in errant doctrine. James exhorts us to do good works because people cannot visually see our faith. We are to do good works because we are saved. Good works are one of the practices that help prevent spiritual atrophy/stagnancy. James exhorts saved Christians not to be lazy. It is our DOCTRINE, what we believe that determines whether or not we are saved. Calvinists/Lordship Salvationists and Arminianists are obsessed with good works which leads to chronic introspection that erodes away their assurance of salvation. Remember how Jesus will reject many people within mainstream Christianity at the Great White Throne Judgment because they were deceived into believing that their good works were "evidence" that they were saved? Matthew 7:21-22 - 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and IN THY NAME DONE MANY WONDERFUL WORKS? The many will be those who have embraced Calvinism/Lordship Salvation, Roman Catholicism, Arminianism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witness doctrine, Pentacostalism, and all works based salvation gospels from beginning to end and dying in that state without ever believing in the true gospel of John 3:16 in its simplicity. The will of the Father in Matthew 7:21 is crucial. It means believing in the right gospel. that is, faith alone in Christ alone APART from our works.

daveme7 When Christ talked about a good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit in Matthew 7:16-20, the context is talking about false teachers and their false doctrine and true teachers and their true doctrine. Jesus is saying that false teachers do not produce sound doctrine because their doctrine does not line up with Scripture. A true teacher produces sound doctrine because his doctrine is in line with Scripture. If you believed in the true Biblical gospel of John 3:16 in its simplicity apart from works 30 years ago, then you are eternally saved whether you feel like it or not and whether or not you do good works. I've been a Christian for 33 years myself, but I did not produce much good works or show change for the first 30 years. That does not negate the fact that I've been saved for 33 years. A works based salvationist like a Calvinist/Lordship person would look at the first 30 years of my life and conclude that I am "unsaved" because of the lack of "evidence" of "good works" "change in lifestyle", "less sinning", etc. I have in my backyard 3 fruit trees. I have a lemon tree that is currently not bearing any lemons, but once did years ago. I have a peach tree that always bears immature peaches about the size of a golf ball and its been like that for years, and finally I have an Asian fruit tree that's over 20 years old. For the first 16 years this tree bore NOTHING, but finally at the 17th year it started to bear much mature fruit that it sweet and its been that way for the past 2 years. Despite the fact that my lemon tree is currently not bearing any lemons, and despite the fact that my peach tree bears immature peaches every year and despite the fact that my Asian fruit tree took 17 years to bear fruit does not negate the fact that these are fruit trees by nature. The same is true of saved Christians. Bearing fruit, good works, and life changes don't happen overnight and these desired attributes take time because of many hindrances in life: Anger at God Addiction Death of a loved one Depression Divorce Illness Preoccupations with money, work. Carnality Hedonism Discouragement Disappointment Unemployment Financial loss Relationship problems The above are just one of many things that will hinder a saved Christian from producing good works, and experiencing life change. My problem was anger at God, death of a love one, discouragement, disappointment, and illness which caused me to fall away from the faith for 9 long years. During that time I produced no fruit and no good works at all. I was living in sin and willful rebellion against God for a long time. It was not until after God chastised me that I woke up and started to change and over time I started to bear fruit.

@wtom04

daveme7 All people who have embraced the false doctrine of Calvinism/Lordship salvation from beginning to end and dying in that state are in hell. If they never believed in the simplicity of faith alone in Christ alone apart from works which is John 3:16, they are damned. If a person at one point in his life ever believed in the simplicity of John 3:16, but then down the line get deceived and led astray by Calvinism, then they are still saved, but they will be living in doctrinal error and will not grow because they will be overly focused on their works for assurance. They will have no assurance of their salvation because their "assurance" will always be in a constant state of fluctuation. If they get into an argument with their spouse,etc, etc, their assurance level will go down. They will be no different from the Puritans of long ago where many of them were on their deathbeds in utter fear not knowing whether they were saved or not. John Piper and R.C. Sproul are classic modern day examples.

That's just another cleverly repackaged version of faith plus works equals salvation nonsense. Your new birth absolutely cannot sin. Your flesh certainly can still sin. A changed life is not automatic, that takes complete cooperation with the Holy Spirit. All works can prove in an already saved person is their level of Christian maturity, nothing else! To say that real faith produces works is quite simply backloading the gospel message with works. The backloaders are trusting in their works.

John Calvin the heretic did not get his version of "predestination/election" from the Bible, but he borrowed that twisted concept from Augustine the heretic who was Calvin's idol. 1) ....."salvation is freely offered to some while others are barred from access to it." - John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion - Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5. 2) "We call predestination God's eternal decree, by which he compacted with himself what he willed to become of each man. For all are not created in equal condition; rather, ETERNAL LIFE IS FORE-ORDAINED FOR SOME, ETERNAL DAMNATION FOR OTHERS." - John Calvin - Institutes of the Christian Religion - Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5. 3) ..."we say that God once established by his eternal and unchangeable plan those whom he long before determined once for all to receive into SALVATION, and those whom, on the other hand, he would devote to DESTRUCTION...he has barred the door of life to those whom he has given over to damnation." - John Calvin - Institutes of the Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 7. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "That owing to one man all pass into condemnation who are born of Adam unless they are born again in Christ, even as He has appointed them to be regenerated, before they die in the body, whom He PREDESTINATED TO EVERLASTING LIFE, as the most merciful bestower of grace; while to those whom He HAS PREDESTINATED TO ETERNAL DEATH, He is also the most righteous awarder of punishment not only on account of the sins which they add in the indulgence of their own will, but also because of their original sin, even if, as in the case of infants, they add nothing thereto. Now this is my definite view on that question, so that the hidden things of God may keep their secret, without impairing my own faith. - Augustine, City of God, On the Soul and its Origin, 4.16.

Calvinism loses fairness in God's sovereignty. To be fair, God gives man a choice as is said in this video. God tells us what the consequences are and allows us to choose life or death out of fairness and love. Love is free to choose.

As a non-Calvinist: I am a new born Christian (Pentecostal) and as such I deeply detest and hate Calvinism/TULIP heresy but I love Calvinists and pray for their conversion and for them to come to Christ for deliverence from Calvinism!. Obeying and been faithful to God are NOT works!. The Angels of God respect, obey God and are faithful because they love Jehovah God and not because they want to earn salvation , they don't need to because they ARE NOT lost sinners like us. Are the Angels of God doing WORKS by obeying and doing what God commands them to do to earn something back from God?. No, the Angels OBEY God's commands and will because they LOVE God and they aknowleged that God is LORD and WORTHY of PRAISE, ALL GLORY, and WORSHIP! When we call on the name of Jesus Christ to cast demons out , do the demons OBEY Jesus Christ and come out because it is a WORK to obtain something back from God (not to be sent to the botomless pit) or is it because the demons MUST comply and aknowledge Jesus Christ as LORD?.They comply because demons MUST aknowledge Jesus Christ as LORD and they MUST OBEY God or else, they don't have other choice but to COMPLY because EVERY TONGUE must CONFESS that Jesus Christ is LORD!. Why did the storm obeyed Jesus Christ when Jesus commanded the storm to stop while He was fishing with Peter and the apostles?.The storm stoped because ALL creation is under Jesus Christ LORDSHIP and MUST OBEY His commands!.It would be foolish/silly to imply that the storm OBEYED Jesus commands as a WORK to obtain something back from Jesus. Sorry but obedience to God as a way to show respect/love because He is LORD and worthy of ALL GLORY ,PRAISE and WORSHIP and to do works to obtain God's approval (rightiousness) and salvation are two completely different things!. I obey what God (The Holy Spirit) has commanded in the Bible for the body of Christ to do (Paul, Peter, James and John epistles) not because I want God's approval, to be saved, or as gratitute for what He has done at the cross for me.Same as God's Angels, I obey Jehovah God out of respect, love and as to aknowledge that God is LORD and worthy of ALL GLORY, PRAISE and WORSHIP.We must love God with all our heart, mind and soul but TO LOVE GOD IS TO OBEY HIM !. In Galatians 2:20 I stand with Paul , I no longer live but it is Jesus Christ that lives in me. I don't live the life I want to live , I LIVE the LIFE JESUS CHRIST WANTS ME TO LIVE!!!!!.

You are a slave to whatever controls you...sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness. Where is the freewill, if man is slave to one or the other? "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2Cor 5:17. Don't let this man or anyone else convince you that you're a Christian if your life is unchanged. "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Mat 7:14. That is NOT salvation by works. It just means that when Jesus saves a person, he genuinely changes them.

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." -John 3:36. The Word of God promises that whosoever believeth on Jesus Christ, the Son of God, hath everlasting life. The Bible doesn't say whosoever believes and lives it. A changed life is the FRUIT of genuine repentantance and not a prerequisite to salvation. Romans 4:5 states, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." We simply come to God as we are (i.e., as guilty sinners) through faith in His Son Christ Jesus.

Scott Campbell 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV ”Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become new.” Must a person have a change of life to prove salvation? How much change is needed to know if you are really saved? Many people point to this verse in 2 Corinthians to teach you must have a changed life or you are not saved. Notice the verse says ALL things. Do you still lose your temper? Do you still have bad thoughts? Do you still lie?Do you still put yourself first before others? If your assurance of salvation is in that your life has changed then you are trusting in something that can not save. You may not have realized this but when you look to your works or changed life to determine if you are saved you are trusting in your works. We sin everyday in thought, word and deed. The Bible says even the thought of foolishness is sin. The truth is unsaved people change their lives all the time. They give up smoking, drinking, stop overeating. Does that make them saved? No. What happens if your life doesn’t change once you get saved? What happens if your life changes for the worse? This verse in 2 Corinthians is about your new birth the moment you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ you receive God’s spirit which is perfect and does not sin. 1 John 3:9KJV. But you still have your flesh till the day you die which dwells no good thing. The Bible also refers to the flesh as the old man. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 KJV speaks of those who will receive rewards in heaven for their good works. Then it tells of others that will not receive rewards because they did not do good works but they are still saved and in heaven. Don’t look to a changed life for assurance of salvation. Let’s be honest if you look at your life and works for assurance of salvation anyone who spends enough time with you will find something in your life that makes them doubt your salvation. Trusting in your works and changed life is simply believing on yourself. You only receive salvation when you believe ON the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:36 KJV “He that believeth ON the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life...”

Scott Campbell it’s by grace alone.. that verse you shared “but those that do the will on my father” can I ask you what the will of the father is?.. it’s to believe that Christ died and rose for your sins. I would hate to trust in my works to get myself to heaven, my best works are as filthy rags to God. Should we continue in sin where grace may abound ? God forbid. We should want to do what’s right, we should be wanting to stop sin, and the Lord can help you with that.. repenting from sin is ma daily thing, and has nothing to do with salvation. God sees what man cannot see, our hearts..it’s our faith that saves us ❤️

The Father’s will... John 6:39-40 KJV “And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

This man doesn’t truly understand Calvinism Many of the early church fathers were Calvinistic in their beliefs The puritans , the first Baptist’s , and many others.. In simplest terms Calvinism is this, “ask your self , are you saved? Who saved you God or yourself? Did he do it on purpose or by accident? There you have it .. in my years of studying Calvinism I never heard lordship salvation concepts taught.. Consider the book of life , names written in it , before the earth , predetermined salvation , that’s Calvinism....
@bradholbrooks

He understands the unsettled theology of Calvinism better than Calvinist do. If you have to ask yourself if you are saved, that means you don't know, and you do not understand the gospel. I heard the teachings of Calvinism all of my life in the Southern Baptist church I grew up in, and the message was a confusing back and forth "gospel" of salvation is not by works, but if you don't do these works, you're not saved! Calvinist never really know if they are saved, that's why they are always looking for fruit for salvation. But salvation is not by works (fruit). Salvation is only by God's grace (cannot be by works) through faith in Jesus Christ alone. This is what is pointed out in the message. When you are in the Calvinist box, you can't see the truth that is outside the box. Simply get out of the box, believe on Christ for salvation, and start renewing your mind in God's Word allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you. Stop listening to men's interpretation of God's Word. All that follow Calvinistic beliefs are wrong -- and yes, that means the most celebrated preachers who believed and taught Calvinistic beliefs were wrong. We should never worship men. God is the only One who has truth, and He defines what that truth is in His Word.

I am not a Calvinist and I thought it would be a cold day in hell before I defend John MacArthur, and my remonstrance to you has nothing to do with Calvinism. You say "the Bible doesn't say that if you don't have enough fruit you're not saved" and you have some verses about faith alone, no question. However, Jesus had about half a dozen different plant parables about "fruitless" plants (e.g. Sower Parable, Wheat/Tares, Barren Fig Tree) being gathered and burned or making the Vintner angry "why does (the fruitless fig tree) take up the ground?" Now, since Jesus is The Reason For the Season and it stands to reason that God might actually be looking for something more than a moment of genuine faith followed by a lifetime of indifference or being distracted by "the pride of life" (Sower Parable, soil type-3, which had no "fruit" and I believe was lost) you can't really say "The Bible" doesn't say that if you don't have enough fruit you're not saved because Jesus sure warned about "fruitlessness" several times and even killed a totally innocent fig tree because it was "fruitless" even though it was out of season. So, I suggest you be modest in making strident "faith alone/OSAS" claims and suggesting everyone else must be misinterpreting "the Bible".Certainly it would be God's "will" (preference) if we would all be perfectly obedient after being saved, so to use that verse in John (that God's will is that all who believe will be saved) is misleading, because clearly God's preference for us is total obedience and if not, a real struggle with sin and to make Him Lord of our lives.

cody turner People who are entrenched in false doctrine like Roman Catholics, and Jehovah's Witnesses will always teach their duped followers that salvation is only found in their churches.
