Besides the prop, probably not that much damage with a nice soft belly landing on tall grass. Glad to see they got her back in the air though.

I always admire this machine and especially its integral and monolithic construction. After such a not at all soft landing, the airplane's glider received no obvious structural damage ..

i would say klaus plasa did a great job on this gear up emergency landing...

Yes but he did a big mistake with flying upside down for a to long time.

***** i thought Bf-109s engines were equipped with fuel injection so they had no problem with upside down flying... on the contrary with british merlins who were equipped with carburetors and were prone to flame out in case of negative Gs...

Yes but the Fuel Tanks are not build for long Neg. G Flights. Only the Fuel in the Fuel lines is left than.

can anyone explain the reason for the wooden prop?read on site that says it will cost $250k euro to fix it which gives me the idea that its not a scaled replica

Looking at all three prop blades sheered off the engine was still turning so will have shock loaded requiring a rebuild, undersides not that badly damaged, he must have put that bird down like a bag of feathers there looks to be so little damage, well done that man!. Unlike the so called expert RAF pilot who managed to park a 109 upside down.
@FiveCentsPlease
@FiveCentsPlease 9 лет назад
Repairs are complete and it's already flying again. The wooden prop blades will shear and prevent severe shock loading and since this was a fuel starvation accident, the engine was not making power when the blades contacted the ground.

Not much damage . it will fly again... good to have a wooden prop . Engine not damaged
@ohwell2790
@ohwell2790 6 лет назад
Even though there appears to be no damage to the engine it will have to be removed and the crankshaft will have to magnufluxed to insure there are no cracks and the crankshaft run out checked to be sure it is within limits.

I like the way the the interviewer tries to get the other guy to change his language and he just blows him off and ploughs through in Dutch then throws in a couple of what sounds to be English ya, ya's, Germany, ha, ha, is far away, I think it will fly.. And after the plane is lifted the guy filming with the Ipad under the plane walks over and takes a handful of the white fluid dripping out of the bottom of the plane and tastes it!, must of broken some of them Vodka bottles in there when it slid to a stop... It would be worthwhile to put subtitles on this piece as this is a rare sight to see such a beautiful bird go down and even rarer to see such excellent piloting skills to bring it down safely, its good that it did not needed to be foamed as that stuff is bad for your wallet.... Its also nice to see skilled people at work doing there job so fluently, I'm so tired of watching RU-vid videos of dumbass, stupid people doing stupid things and not knowing that it is actually stupid... Im glad this happened here as if it happened in Russia the Politi there would be shooting the scrap scavengers swarming towards the plane to rip it apart for scrap value as they did when they cut up a 70 year old MINT!... Did I say MINT!!! WWII Stug with winter camo for scrap after people ripped all the parts off it while it was standing outside for one year that they found and pulled out of a Russian bog. What caused the fuel starvation... Ground crew? Too bad the cornfield is not to scale, seems kinda small and hung over, almost like a wheat field. Ya?... Ya.

Ricardo Mierz He was probably smelling the fluid to determine if it was petrol or coolant.

Was that aircraft recovered or demolished?
@FiveCentsPlease
@FiveCentsPlease 6 лет назад
+ediunicko Demolished? No, belly landings were not unusual during the war and the planes were often returned to service if the damage wasn't too bad. This Bf-109 Red 7 was repaired to fly again, but it is back in the shop after a ground loop in 2016.

The plane does not look right without the swatstika! Ya ya its illegal in germany but at least put it back on the ww2 planes for authenticity! Just dont use the swatstika politicaly.
@1vespa
@1vespa 9 лет назад
I agree. Anyway, the swastika is a thousands of years old European pagan symbol. The Nazis just robbed a pan-European symbol for their personal use. We can see it in Lusitanian jewellery and engraved in stones from northern Iran to Europe.
@edwardkiel3496
@edwardkiel3496 9 лет назад
manh rosa You're quite right, in fact if it wasn't either banned or seen as such a taboo, I don't think the swastika would have the strong Nazi connotation it has today. I mean today almost the only times you see a swastika is either when some neo-Nazi is waving it, or in some Nazi-era footage, while nobody would depict a Celt with a swastika on his shield, or reproduce viking art containing a swastika, to take two examples. I think that banning it has also given it a lot more power and mystique than it needed to have.

manh rosa Traveling through South Dakota. There is a town called Mitchell that has a corn palace. It used to be made out of corn in the fall. Within it there are pictures and painting of each palace dating back to the 1800s. In picture from the early 1900s they had a notation about the swastika on it being a symbol within the Sioux nation and not of the Nazis.
@1vespa
@1vespa 9 лет назад
Elementalism I know that the symbol is somehow dispersed thru Asia and Europe. The expansion into America started some 16000 years ago, so they could have already carried the symbology with them, I'm just speculating. Anyway here is a comprehensive wiki article on the swastika en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika
@ronaldderooij1774

manh rosa Except that the Nazi swastika was mirrored. I was told that was a mistake by the nazi pary, but I don't know if that is true.

Like vintage cars and old guitars these warbirds needs to stay flying. Nothing worse than a garaged car, a guitar under a bed and a bird of prey hanging from a ceiling. That said, enough with the acrobatics and hot dogging. Neither the planes nor it appears the pilots can handle it any more.
