Hello everyone and welcome to video #2 of the cabin. In todays video we will be doing some serious deep cleaning, decluttering & organizing in the bathroom, it desperately needed it! This bathroom has limited storage space, so I had to really think how I could utilize the spaces I have and organize those spaces to where they functioned well, as prior to doing anything to the bathroom, everything was jam packed into small areas and was not functional at all, in fact I couldn't believe how much stuff was packed into some of the small areas in this bathroom, I was shocked when I seen everything that was decluttered. But because I turned the bathroom from messy to minimal, that helped immensely with how I organized in today's video. We're going to be tackling much larger areas in the next cabin video, as we have a lot...a lot, more work to do at the cabin. I love when you go to other spaces to clean and organize! One suggestion I have is to use the bottom shelf of the unit above the toilet for TP, then you could use the space on the other shelf for other items. You could even do the fancy flower trick on the TP rolls like Living With Cambriea does to make them pretty.

I do to, it keeps things fun and interesting. Although I always have stuff to do at my house LOL its fun to switch it up now and then. So happy you like the other cleaning, decluttering & organizing videos! The decluttering videos with my mom are my favorite HA! And great idea on using the shelf for toilet paper! luv that! I will also have to check out Living With Cambriea, I dont think Ive ever watched her channel before, definitely checking her channel out! 🥰🥰

Danni… Terrific! Keep the thing in the box as it’s a replacement part for inside the toilet cistern and if it breaks it’s good to have one on hand. Usually when you have a full house is when it breaks! We always have one on standby. Great job. 🎉

Yes agree! It definitely feels bigger & lighter. There was way too much stuff in that small space, I even removed some of the decor I put out, I thought is may have been too much stuff in there still. And you put it perfectly, I truly believe decluttering is fundamental prior to any organization or cleaning, I couldnt agree more. It truly is a mystery lol did you see I placed them by the turtle that's sitting on the shelf above the toilet 🤣 wasn't sure if there special... probably...very likely...99.9% sure there not but who knows. Wonderful job -- and it looks so fresh and tidy!! So much easier to find and use stuff!! :) My DH does suggest that you keep an "emergency plumbing kit" under the sink -- with that drain "snake" (that coiled wire thing that you found); that replacement part you found too, plus some fresh plumbers putty and plumbers tape along with some wrenches etc. Maybe in a plastic box with a lid? Also consider keeping a plunger along with the toilet brush. If you need storage -- Amazon has lots of those very slim cart/cabinets (some in plastic) that could sit next to the toilet and hold all of the toilet paper etc. Cheers! Always love to watch your videos -- and watch them several times!!!

One of the things I love the most about this is how awkward it is because cleaning is awkward and uncomfortable I’m watching someone take control of themselves and thier surroundings and change it for the better. It’s always inspiring- one bathroom and closet at a time

It is awkward and uncomfortable, especially for me LMBO as im a hotmess that tends to get scattered and is always wondering what everything is and questioning everything and clumsy/breaks everything and the list goes on HA! Tom is my father-in-law, although we call this the family cabin, this is Tom's cabin. My husband Ian's parents built this when he was very young. So grateful to be able to be here during the summers, it's a blast, but definitely past due for a good declutter lol. Thanks so much for watching and being here with me 🥰

That floor, the entire shower and toilet area was bad! Whats crazy is it didnt look super bad, but once I started to deep clean, I was like "this is gross" LOL That floor is really hard to see dirt, pretty sure thats why they installed that flooring LOL. u doing great ❤ In a small space n if sb has the tendency to be messy even just cos they r on holiday n dont want to clean everyday or cos a lot of people are in the same space I wouldnt decorate so much n I'd take off the shelves u dont use cos....they r a big tentation to hoard...😮😮😮😮 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Agree 100% I think that shelf above the toilet is an area that can and most likely will accumulate clutter, it may be best to not have the shelf there, maybe a picture or even just 1 small shelf vs multiple shelves. We ended up removing most of the decor, it was too busy for that small bathroom, we kept just a couple things, i'll show/mention that in future cabin videos, but I completely agree with this entire comment! Agreed! I think "from Messy to Regular" is definitely fitting. And that was exactly my thoughts, the room definitely feels & looks so much better, there was way too much stuff in those small spaces. I've just overhauled my kitchen, including the pantry! The overflow system from The Home Edit has been profoundly transformative. I took the cans out of the (main) micro-pantry and put them in a different cupboard so they weren't in with everything else. They're even alphabetized now! There's space behind them for extras like I mentioned in my last comment to you about it being like a supermarket system setup. I've made a slim pantry cupboard into where I keep extra sugar, salt, water and long life milk. I separated the oils and the vinegars, and I put a bookshelf on the bench to organize tea coffee and condiments as well as recipe books, and its easy access unlike before! Now I know where things belong.. its taken me over 6 years to figure it out!

I am so glad I am not the only one, I feel like I have been trying to organize my kitchen and some other areas around my house for so long, that kitchen seriously drives me nuts! I love the Home Edit containers I think they are wonderful! And a decent price too! However I really need to sit down and watch there show sometime! Ive heard its amazing! Your kitchen, your pantry, sounds AMAZING!!! I would absolutely LOVE to alphabetize my items esp. pantry/dry goods/can items. Having a supermarket system sounds incredible! How wonderful that would be to have in my kitchen. I cannot express enough how much I love the concept of a supermarket system, something I would never think to do! So happy for you! 😂When you shook the box in the bag, I knew what it was, lol. Kids! I found something similar in my old desk at my parents house. I get rolls of bamboo towels. You can wash them several times-then when they are worn out, I put them together and grab them for yucky messes and just throw them away, no guilt. Renewable and fairly cheap! And an old t-shirt with holes or old dish towels (cough cough like at your mom’s cough) also make great cleaning cloths! Love the cabin! Looking good!✌️♥️

Have you ever tried hit the pan or use up toiletries, groceries. essential things that lie in reserve to see how long it takes me to use up a blush, for example. if it takes 12 months then 1-2 should be enough. so that nothing spoils. E.g. you use 18 candles a year, this is the number for reserves. this way you can force yourself to use up the old and not start the newest right away, even though there might still be product in it for 2 months. maybe that would be an idea for a new video series use it up skin care candles make up pantry a no buy for certain products and the documentation in video format to show the progress. when things are used up, others from the same category can follow. and if you don't like a product at all, it will be discarded. You get a feeling of how long it takes for certain products to be used up. and that you might not need as many in reserve as you thought. This can be used for anything that is consumable.

I'm the opposite of you: I love organizing but hate cleaning! In this room, I'd repurpose the shelving unit by the shower somewhere else in the cabin and replace it with a simple wall shelf (ideally, in place of the decorative shelf above the toilet) and a standing toilet paper rod that can hold several rolls. There would probably be room for toilet paper under the sink also if you used a two-tiered under-sink storage unit instead of bins for all of the bottles and tubes.

I worte this down! This is brilliant! And so, so helpful! I couldnt agree with this entire comment more! I think a wall shelf for the towels/toilet paper is a great idea, I think we could utilize that shelf elsewhere, I'm also going to talk with Tom and see if we should remove the decorative shelf above the toilet, I think its going to accumulate clutter, its not very sturdy (did I spell sturdy right 🤣) its more decorative and I ended up removing some of the decor I put out as I think it may have been too much for that space. Love the idea of a standing toilet paper holder, I have one of those in my small bathroom at home, I got it off amazon, I should get one for in here. And Ive seen those 2 tired under the sink storage units, they slide i think, right? Those would work way better, I think there pretty inexpensive off Amazon too? I declutter and reorganize mine every year and do a wipe out of the cabinets. Its still the hardest room in the house to keep together. Its full of so many items and so much life is lived there.
