METABOLIC ALKALOSIS (NURSING)
Arterial blood gases (ABGs) and acid base balance can be really hard to learn in nursing school.
In this video series on arterial blood gases, we'll dive into the 4 key things you need to know when studying ABGs in nursing school:

Excellent Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you tried - Fanebastianor Phrenic Formula (search on google)? Nice, clear explanation. From a mere patient who experienced this in 2003, along with hypokalemia. Not fun! There were a lot of nursing students who studied my case, lol. I met one years later who remembered me.

ASNA T, the way that whole blood is processed in the body can cause metabolic alkalosis. Part of it is converted to bicarb, which is a base, and can cause metabolic alkalosis. Hope that is helpful, friend. Have a fantastic day! :)

So how does prolonged vomiting leads to metabolic alkalosis

Olawunmi Joy, great question. So when you are vomiting for a prolonged period of time, you are losing the acid that is in the stomach, that makes everything overall more basic, so alkalotic. I hope that helps to clear it up for you! :)
