That was just the tip of the iceberg son, you only made me stronger. Now my nanomachines are doing everything my heart did and I just had more added to the pool.
At 35:14, with the sun behind him and Armstrong laying directly infront of him, it's almost as if Raiden's "shadow" is Armstrong. I'm not bright enough to define this shadow as there could be a million meanings behind it. Brilliant directing and overall composition, this game had so much love put into its creation.
Everyone has their opinion, Armstrong and Raiden share almost the same ideas, except that Armstrong prefers to prepare strong people for war since it is the nature of human beings, while Raiden prefers to defend the "weak" ones. After Raiden finished off Armstrong, Raiden decided to open The eyes showing that no one was wrong about their ideas, Raiden understood that it does not matter if he kills people to end wars, there will always be conflicts.
yeah, in the last scene raiden says exactly what armstrong said about fighting for unknown causes, meaning armstrong's legacy actually will linger on through jack as he said. that's also why in the song you can hear "i think we'll both agree"
Armstrong: Beats Raiden to a pulp and makes him suffer in pain Also Armstrong like 2 seconds later: *Helps him up and wipes dust off like nothing happened*
He's actually trying to make a point to Raiden. Kinda trying to convince him to vote for him and join him in his mission. The moment Armstrong lifted Raiden up and started being nice was the moment he thought Raiden started agreeing with him. You can see a subtle sadness in his voice and his face as he sees Raiden won't accept Armstrong's phylosophy and that sadness slowly turns into indifference as Armstrong is ready to kill Raiden because he would fight Armstrong instead of joining him
is incredible how Armstrong is stronger without that giant spider robot who could destroy a city easily, the best Senator of the story without any doubt
29:43 Hidden fact, you don't need to use zandatsu mode to slash its back while recovering, use Strong Attack directly behind it and it will be destroyed
@@jaoofy You cannot attack him anywhere (except his back) while he is recovering, when you attack using Strong Attack, Raiden's first move will be swinging his sword slightly upwards and if you are lucky enough, it will break his back
A strong attack is not the only option, you can also use a light attack, Raiden just needs to do the light attack that preforms a diagonal slash to the upper left while kneeling. But tbh, any attack can work, it just needs to be preformed by the right angle and on the right spot, it needs quite a lot of practice, but i believe that it Is worth it.
Well the conservatives in japan dont understand but kojima who has a very leftist anti war ideology has predicted multiple events in american history. His country was nuked by japan. Metal gears are machines that launch nukes. When you have enough insight these events, the justifications, the psychology isn't hard to see.
13:15 this scene is my favorite because throughout the entire game raiden was constantly having close calls with his metal chin saving him. This was the first time he actually fully dodge an attack to his head without his chin getting scratch and he decides to praise himself in the middle of an active fight and gets punched in the jaw.
What's sad is that Armstrong is technically right America today has too many pointless fights...if someone wanted to end all the pointless wars, fights extra you got to pull the blug and start new.
He was talking about anarchy meaning no laws just everybody doing whatever they want. Which is the dumbest fucking idea ever bro. He may have the body of a god. But he isn't very smart.
I love how the second Armstrong said I have a dream, the whole tone of the fight changed, he’s not just some “blood for oil” douchebag, he legitimately stands for something, the ends may not justify the means but you have no choice but to respect him, even if you definitely still have to kill him.
(Editing cos I forgot some stuff) Yeah I mean I first heard about this game from my brother and he made Armstrong out to be doing it all for laughs then I played the game and really thought about it and yeah he really does stand for something, sure it’s very from from okay but he wanted something for Americans and his ‘dream’ isn’t a bad idea for some cases but then you realise it’s a bit to close to literal public endorsement for genocide upon others and it all comes down. Although we all have our dreams about how society works, when I first saw Armstrong’s monologue I thought if raiden gave it a chance it could’ve worked out with how raiden could’ve had ideas to make Armstrong kinda dial it back if he trusted him enough. Armstrong clearly trusted raiden from him simply fake talking Armstrong into getting close, it’s obvious Armstrong trusted him enough through 1 sentence and with how the MG universe’s America was going it wasn’t that bad of a thought. I mean had America in this universe been transformed to what Armstrong saw people could’ve mad the MG America great for others.
Yes I respect a man who wants to end occasional war in favor of an endless war. He wants a society which contains all the problems of today turned up to 11 but without the pretenses. You are not thinking at all
wouldn't really make a difference since he doesn't know how to use one masterfully, it's stated somewhere in the game that he throws random punches and kicks, etc. in the hopes of landing one, while completely being dependent on his powers as he has no fighting style, so neither does he have any sword experience or remembers any of his supposed navy training
"Making the mother of all omelettes here, Jack. Can't fret over every egg." (19:14) Is it just me, or does Armstrong look... genuinely distraught? He's not being dismissive or taunting Raiden when he says this, he sounds more like he's *begging* him to listen.
19:25 Will always be my fav moment from that Boss fight I like how Armstrong respect Raiden(or rather who he was in the past) to the extent his words actually got through to his mind for a brief moment
this is one of the best games that has ever been released, the music, the combat, the characters, all of it are unparalleled. i can only pray for a sequel or something like it gets released again.
33:01 Raiden did headbutt to Armstrong, slice his chest to create a opening to put his hands in it and at end he squeeze his heart to kill him and that's the end of Armstrong 34:45
I think I doubles as a little funny scene cuz jack almost goes ripper mode because of it but it also shows bladewolfs newfound freedom to make his own choices
So his attacks flash red, indicating that you can block, yet half of them are impossible to block and Raiden will just attack instead. I hate this games control's so much.
It is interesting how Senator Armstrong talks about making America great again and about career politicians being chicken-shit, a few years before the orange guy did.
half of what armstrong said was reasonable. until the part about purging the weak and the vagueness about killing for what the individual believes. a lawless wild west or anarchy can't survive.
Armstrong "phase 2" is annoying the shit out of me rn. I beat him down to 96,9% health and he still won't fucking let me proceed into phase 3.. the actual bossfight I mean
you know armstrong says he could break the president in two with his bare hands but this is pretty modest considering that punches caused a spider-mech to explode
I knew that this Playthrough would make me Realize quite a few Problems I made when I fought the Metal Gear and then Armstrong. But this. It didn't just point out the Few. It pointed out EVERYTHING I did wrong. And showed me things I didn't even know was possible. Beating Armstrong was not Easy. Died a LOT. But my God. How seeing this Video. Just makes me want to get S Tier on this for him. I might just want to do that. I mean I got S Tier with Jetstream Sam. Why not with the one Boss that I heard so much about and got Absolutely Destroyed by
Is it really no dmg? I mean Armstrong makes raiden into a potato salad in the cutscenes so even if you do the fight perfectly just know… you will never no dmg Armstrong
i love the fact on my copy of the game that Armstrong is stuck on this phase and no matter how low I get his hp the fight refuses to transition to the next part
I do hope to the gods that this game comes to PS Plus. I've seen this game on RU-vid so many times, but PlayStation won't add this badass cousin to God of War to their catalog?! Alas, A crime against gamers of all!
Senator Armstrong in 2013: Make America Great Again. President Trump in 2016: Make America Great Again. The writing in this game was WAY to accurate...AND Obviously Senator Armstrong is a warmonger, same with Bush, Obama, and now Biden.
18:30 i feel this moment like senator Armstrong is becoming an good guy, like he would help Jack to kick the evil’s ass… but sadly he still an bad guy.
The thing about Armstrongs argument here is that on a fundamental level he isn't wrong. Purging the weak is pretty bad yeah, but just because he's a politician doesn't mean he's never had it hard. He believes what he is saying and doesn't care about the money. What he wants is a free country or (Truly Free) in his eyes anyways. Although I laughed when the put the "Trump Slogan" in the game because all it did was make him more relatable as a character. It's why we see the videos and comments saying "Armstrong did nothing wrong" all the time. The man is strangely very AnCap but is using Cap to get there. And more over he decided he wanted to overthrow bureaucracy by becoming what he hated. And look at Raiden's talking points. It's literally just a "You're rich, You're a bureaucrat, You went to an IV league school, You've never suffered or gone hungry". Raiden doesn't know any of that but assumes it because of Armstrong's position. It's a "He exists as, he must be the same as all the rest". But that's an assumption based on a rule, with zero exceptions. Yeah politician TEND to be corrupt as shit. But many try to do there best to help people and do the right thing. And they try their best to change the system from within it. This isn't excusing all the corrupt PoS's but it interesting to point out that aside from Armstrong's methods and the more extreme parts of his ideology, He makes great points.
And even with the extremes, Jack probably still, even after killing armstrong with sams sword probably understands on some level. Tbh itd be a interesting take for a sequel where jack inadvertently finishes what sam and armstrong started and saved the world much like a certain old friend did once many times over
The problem is, Armstrong's world where the strong rule and might makes right ultimately devolves into how the world currently is anyway. Powerful men with loyal hired militia rule the world and reinstate the exact systems armstrong attempted to destroy, and alone he has no hope of toppling them. Someone somewhere will create the weapon necessary to kill him, he will die, and everything will return to how it already is.
I like how, despite being the 'bad' guy, hes still respectful and calm at the end, once he realizes hes been defeated, he just kinda accepts it I find that poetic
