Metal Gear Solid 4 on RPCS3 - Settings Explained (2020) 

If everybody that actually cared encouraged them through social media they would and it'd be amazing. Sure, it would require plenty of work but that'd be worthwhile and absolutely successful compared to the bullshit they released after The Phantom Pain. But that's not all, they should also resell it as the REAL Director's Cut not only featuring more content (e.g. VR Missions) but exclusively an optional toggle for Beauty and the Beast Unit being totally nude as Hideo Kojima initially intended. Why? Because it brings full context to their stories and identities upon Snake defeating them and seeing them leave their outfits. All those camera angles and so on would absolutely have more to offer.

​@@Indians-dl3to They're significant female soldiers suffering from war trauma and wearing specialized outfits embodying their characteristics (e.g. laughing, rage, crying, and screaming). Upon confrontation, Snake must destroy their outfit so they're capable to "escape" being controlled by their trauma and afterwards optionally execute or sedate them so they'll be freed forever. After shedding from their outfits, they were intended to be completely naked to figuratively and literally represent their vulnerability and escapism. However, due to being a console exclusive it lessened the context and was exchanged for skin-tight outfits. PC would've resolved this issue without censorship.

@@Indians-dl3to Since perversion actually can be defined as misrepresentation I wouldn't say he's never intentionally manipulated audiences with false expectations. Metal Gear Solid 2 stands as one of his most perplexing but brilliantly written video games of all time despite mixed reactions from hardcore fans and newcomers. That said, nudity shouldn't be shameful and would've brought more to MGS4 instead of shying away since there's already prolonged sequences of horrific violence. If you actually saw the scenes involving B&B Corp while knowing what I said it would make them more poetic than just perverted nonsense.

@@themetalmikeshow8450 it works, I have a standard 1650. But my current cpu is slightly old, and it doesn't give me half the game audio. If you have a better cpu, then you can run this fine

Thanks! Yes, I did try using the UHD 630, the results weren't great. It did run, but at a very low framerate and the colors looked wrong for some reason. The main menu at native PS3 resolution ran at 20fps.

@@mauriciofarfan3937 Nope, I just ended up getting a ps3 later down the line.

Make sure you're creating a custom configuration for each game, I think you can't change those settings on the general config.

Will it run at all? Probably yes. Will it run at a playble framerate? Probably not, unfortunately.

Your config is perfectly fine! The issue is that the emulator is not fully stable for mgs4

Actually MGS4 is made on an early version of the Fox Engine, but is really an early stage of what it became on MGSV

I think the reason is because your CPU is a bit slower when it comes to single threaded performance when compared to Intel CPUs. But even a 10900k at 5.3Ghz wouldn't play the entire game at constant 60fps at the moment. The emulator is still in development. That said, keep in mind that the original PS3 version of the game runs at around 25 - 30fps most of the time, and at 1024x768 resolution, so we're already having a much better experience than on the PS3.

If you have it on console, that's still the best option. On RPCS3 it still drops to like 20 fps in some parts on the best CPUs on the market. But if you wanna try it out, I think your GPU will do fine on PS3 native resolution, maybe even at like 150% resolution. CPU is more important for RPCS3.

I don't think constant 60fps is possible yet, unfortunately. The emulator is still very CPU limited, but the devs are always updating it, maybe soon it will be possible.

Your CPU is the problem get an modern 12th Gen i7 or i9 CPU you going to get 60fps most of the time

Try increasing Driver Wake up Delay to 100us or 200us in the advanced tab also set TSX Instructions to Disabled also make sure you're using the latest rajkosto build, not the main rpcs3 build

@@1Ocelot Thanks, I've already noticed that increasing VBlank makes the dialogue subtitles disappear before you can read it. Otherwise the game (MGS 2) works really well, however it still crashes in the Main Menu when trying to exit the Basic Actions menu (About 80% of the time). I wonder if there is any way to prevent that.

Yeah unfortunately it still requires a powerful CPU. But keep in mind that on the PS3 it also drops to like 25 fps or so a lot of the time, so you're not too far off from it haha

i tried it with your exact settings and even adjusted them to try optimise it, but i cannot get it to run as well as yours, it runs 60fps in the opening scene with the david hayter interview, and then ingame, it has barely any audio unless the game is paused, and 15-20 fps with some graphics glitches, im using BLUS30109 if that is any help

It's a per-game config option. You don't need to mess with it, it's supposed to match your monitor refresh rate. Doesn't make any difference if you're not using vsync.

I think you downloaded the source code instead of the binaries, make sure you get the binaries.

Same happens to me, solid 60 fps at loading screen, I can press start button but cant hit new game neither scroll down to load game or extras.

@@MMaRsu Raj's build from 2/7/20, based on my own experience at-least. The other builds add updated features alongside Raj's fix and there's even a Canary patch you can apply to the main build now, but they crash way too frequently to be considered even close to playable.

it can run other games i use it for other games and army of two sometimes hangs on the official build but not on this one

Yeah, the first time you run it takes a while, but next times are much quicker

@@1Ocelot That's good! Luckily you don't have to do the compilation process all at once. You can quit and start the process again later and it'll resume where it left off. I stopped it for now as I've only got the stock cooler for my CPU, I don't think it's good idea to have it at 100% utilization for a big block of time with a crappy cooler lol.

yeah, the emulator uses more the cpu than the gpu.
