I forgot I set this as my helicopter music. I sneak into a village where an ally has been captured, everything is silent as I kill a few guards on my way inside. I have to carry the target outside. As soon as I'm out of the building I'm spotted by a sniper and the whole base goes on alert. I was pinned down so I dropped the target and called in my chopper. An intense gun battle ensued as the enemies unloaded on my position with fixed machine guns, mortars, and everything else. I was wounded and pretty sure I was about to die when I hear this sound start blasting and my chopper starts shooting everything. I pick up the target and extract. As we lift away I get on the gun and fire back at the enraged base and enemy fire light up everywhere. Love this game so much. Mission Accomplished.
I am absolutely dropping this at a goth/darkwave night this Friday. It isn't going to sound out of place at all. So good! I tested it and if anyone Shazam's this on the dancefloor, Snake will be staring them down in the art lol.
Everything about this game just blows my mind every time i think about it, and its been more than 6 months since i finished it. I hadn't played any of the Metal gear games before, but this one spoke to me. Just like Bloodborne did when Dark Souls never could. I can never put it to words, but this game is art of the highest order to me. The pace, gameplay and the soundtrack are just unparalleled. My most sincerest thanks to all the people who worked on this game!
I was racking my brain, trying to figure out who sang this when I first heard it in-game! I’ve listened to almost every synthwave/darkwave 80s band there is. I kept on listening to this song and thinking...sounds like Sisters of Mercy, but not quite...hmm, not Clan of Xymox, either... I was really impressed when I finally looked it up and realized it is part of the OST. Really fantastic song, and what an amazing game.
it was a collaboration between Harry, Ludvig, Justin Burnettt and Daniel James. Harry did the music of Ground Zeroes' final scenes, Justin Burnett did a few iin Phantom Pain, Daniel James did mostly Metal Gear online stuff. and Ludvig did the bulk of the score.
The drapery is a literal reference to the game's opening hospital scene. Ishmael is in the bed next to yours, but if you look to your left, the curtains are closed and you cant see him.
MGSV is amazing. Not just its gameplay, as a work of art entirely. I absolutely love its story, how it takes the series staple of the player character constantly being in a sea of lies and amps it to one hundred daring to present you this information and allow you to find your own truth. All the information is there, hidden in the web of lies and contradictions. And its up to you as Venom to just listen to those tapes and come to your own conclusions about who to believe and what's really going on
If people don't appreciate this game for the experience and the thrill of running to the lz with a p.o.w. on your back and the enemy behind u, needs their head examined. Dark, gritty, visceral, wild, highs and lows of a era. I'm only 12% into the game and I already got teary eyed like 3 Times.
Yeah but the problem is that the game doesn't conclude, and you have so few actually entertaining missions they become routine as you replay them to death.
Nice ad hominem, dude. I've put 85 hours into the game so far. Pequod is the call sign of the helicopter, I'm not sure what you're arguing about. The helicopter has no gender. The helicopter and pilot designated Morpho were terminated. The helicopter and pilot teams "Pequod" and "Queequeg" are still active. And they are not male. They are call signs.
Muneeb B. Yeah, uh, you did attack me. You said "Looks like you haven't played the game", which is as much as saying "you clearly don't know what you're talking about, so I discount your opinion" - the definition of an Ad Hominem attack. And you yourself JUST SAID that Pequod is the call-sign for the pilot manning Big Boss' personal helicopter, which is apparently assigned to several different helicopters ("I'll ready a backup chopper"). They're TITLES. They DON'T HAVE GENDERS. They AREN'T DEFINED by the person using the title. Pequod is a call-sign for a helicopter. It is as inherently genderless as either "Big Boss" or "The Boss". The man they call "Pequod" is male, but "Pequod" could just as easily be a woman. Pequod is the helicopter, or the call-sign of the helicopter. I'm correct, and we all know it.
figures a game series and devoloper i love has the same taste in music as i do. never heard this song before. thanks kojima! also thanks for being able to have joy division on my helicopter lol
+UndeadRivethead as a huge joy division fan myself I almost lost my shit when I went to quiets cell for the first time and "love will tear us apart" was playing.
+Corto Maltese that's because he is saying some of that. as far as I can interpret: hush, it's time, our secret's all but lost this feels, he's going down it seems hush, it's time, we spilled our minds this light, the boss will die it's time, for the boss to hide it's time, we looked behind (the drapery) maybe, inside, a swifter secret comes I've raged, our fears are coming too true it's time, we spilled our minds this lie/light, the boss will die it's time, for the boss to hide it's time, we looked behind (the drapery) venom is one mad body double
I had just finished rescuing Kaz and played "Love Deterrence" on the way to LZ. After the LZ was compromised by the arrival of parasites, this song came blasting on as I rode away to escape from them. I assumed the song was scripted to play there because it fit so well but I didn't realize until now that it only played because it was placed after Love Deterrence in the cassette tape listing. Such a memorable moment and song.
When I worked nightshifts at wearhouse in Netherlands it was transcendental to listen to this on the highway at 4am, only thing i miss about that overcivilised place.
Mgs has the best character development it so sad to see it end snake will be hero for a long time he's the was reason to get a new console I miss the cut scenes it added more to the gameplay the whole experience
This is pequod, turn that shit up, boss! I remember how I found this song, I went back to MB after tranqing a bunch, went to check on quiet, and this was on the radio, I lost my mind. Definitely has that cold wave goth feel to it. Sisters of mercy, the cure and joy division would be proud. May the synth live on.
macfreak18 Awesome... I wish Kaz wouldn't have called in a chopper for this one mission either. He was stupid enough to order it middle of the enemy base. Dunno what he was thinking, but he wasn't thinking clearly. :p
after 9 months I found it!) "Hush! It's time Our secret's all but lost. This veil. Is coming down it seems To find the last dark corner to hide in It's time we spill our minds This time the hogs will die It's time for us to cry It's time we look behind The Drapery. Bleed, inside. What's left is seeping out. My friend. Our fears are coming true It's time we spill our minds This time the hogs will die It's time for us to cry It's time we look behind The Drapery. In the dark we'll stay"
Dark for the series where a bisexual Russian sadist grabs the balls of his male lovers, women fight using their PTSD and beloved protégés are forced to murder their mentors for money? Dude are you even PRETTY good? ;P
Good to know I am not the only one who loves to loop this one on routine missions, assaults and chopper extractions. I has charm and goes well both on the Afghan or African enviroment of the game.
Had this playing while escaping with Kaz slung over my back..epic! As for the song I dunno searches only brought up 'behind the drapes*' by a 'Meep' but looking up the lyrics it didn't look right
THE greatest track in the whole game along with Great Nitrogen and Quiet theme.Looove it.When you like this kind of music i recoend Alexander Brandon and Sakuraba.
If you like this song, you might like the Birthday Massacre's earlier stuff. You should also check out the Guest on Netflix for its 80s retro music theme.
I was disappointed more of these weren't on the OST. I wonder if there will be a release down the road with all of them compiled. Too much good work to let go to waste on voluntary cassette tapes.
+Austin Johnson I guess it's most likely Ludvig Forsell, the game's composer. My first guess was John, it sounds a lot like his voice, but not so much like his production. Great artist to play the game to though!
At first I thought the vocals were an early Ian Curtis. Personally I hear a lot of Peter Hook and Bernard Sumner in the Bass and Guitar, so I completely mistook this song as some odd obscure mix of Joy Division when first I first heard it. Good to finally get some background on the song though.
+Sonny Frisco I was just wondering if you are planning to do a Batman v Superman commentary anytime in the near future. Would love one. All the best. -Ian
I keep finding these new tracks that aren't in the game. Does anyone have a list of these synthy 80's tracks? A phantom pain, behind the drapery, and the one about zombies are three of them. I know there's at least one more that I forget the name of. I wish these tracks had their own album.
