@@macosta3562 Except it isn't. Raiden already explainned he went through Metal Gear Solid VR Missions (you know, the ones from the old PS1 disc). They even show footage of that.
@@scottyj8655 while I've heard that this is what he wanted I've heard that he also doesn't like remakes so it is possible he did it on purpose but I haven't actually done enough research
If this is actually how Otacon remembers MGS, I wanna see what he comes up with when he hears what happened in MGS3 with Big Boss. He'd probably imagine Big Boss as some herculean superhero that fought against literal gods.
The Matrix was only 5 years old at this point and still something parodied and copied. So that makes sense. But still, even at this time this felt goofy as hell.
@moxie The gameplay at first glance is a strange combination but it works so well. I desperately want a third one. The storyline has so many unresolved plot lines.
In the first game Solid Snake rescued a lot of prisoners, maybe this was a method he used to get them to talk. Also in MgsV you can hold up soldiers and get information from them.
11:00 MGS: This ending is all about how Otacon becomes a more dignified man and Snake shows his limits as a human being, and this brings the two closer than ever, giving birth to one of the best bromances in videogame history MGS TTW: Pinky and the Brain like relationship It would have helped the scene a bit if Snake at least helped him up with a smile
1:44 Sorry, I forgot Snake: DAMN, hhnnnnnghhhhhh "points the pistol for no damn reason" Ryuhei Kitamura while directing this game cutscenes smoked crack, for his movies he only smoked marijuana
Johnny Sasaki's memorable line of "shut up in there, will'ya" felt commanding and angry in MGS. Twin Snakes made him sound like scolding a couple making out.
I can see why people might like this version, but personally, I liked when the series attempted to be more grounded in some semblance of reality instead of just going full-blown anime constantly, and insisting that Solid Snake was some kind of super-human when really he was just a really effective and experienced soldier. Also, they did Hal dirty in this...not cool, guys.
Me too, I liked how grounded the original MGS too. But I did hear a theory that Twin Snakes was just Otacon retelling the story, which is why Snake seems to be super human
i think twin snakes is more like the version people tell in stories, while the original is what was really going on. people romanticize and over-hype what was really happening to make it a better story. its not a confirmed theory, but considering this is the only time snake ever did insane bullshit, its one i prefer.
Honestly, I like this game on it's own separate to the first one I always loved when MGS was goofier with semblances of sadness, like MGS3 being a complete goofball game until the end where it gets really sad Having said that, the darker tone of MGS1 is still great, and I still prefer MGS1, but TTS is still a hell of a lot of fun, that deserves recognition more as a reimagining of the original than a straight up remake
"You have to keep in mind that Solid Snake is not a real human [As within the story universe, Solid Snake is a genetically enhanced clone.] On the other hand Big Boss is a real human being with true emotions. He can be more expressive than Solid Snake. So yes, as a result I find him more compelling to write." Hideo Kojima
Considering how much of the events of the Shadow Moses Incident got out, I like to imagine that this is some movie that was made in the metal gear universe
I actually enjoy how much this version of MGS goes full hog in being as silly as possible more than before. This series is really just silly and illogical and TTS just embraces it really well.
God dammit, is anything that I like that isn't completely despised by everyone who isn't me? Why do you hate and despise both Polar Express and Twin Snakes?
@@weatherman1504 Hey whoa whoa. I didn’t mean it like THAT. 😨 I’m sorry. I’m just noticing how weird some shots are. And yes, I actually love the Polar Express.
@@DrasticFox2004 Sorry for the assumption. This comment section is getting to me. This curse is getting to me. I thought playing through part of the MGS series would be a break from it, but apparently every game I played (Twin Snakes, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGRR) was the worst in the series. I'm not sure how a fandom can hate every single thing from the series they "like", but the MGS fandom has surprised me.
For all the silliness and ridiculousness that they added to this remake, I will say they definitely made Solid Snake appear a lot more badass here which I enjoyed. And yes I know he was already badass
@@filipeflower snake jumping off a missile, snake's reaction to the dude forgetting meryl's frequency, and other stunts where he does crazy acrobatic stuff
While Twin Snakes And MGS1 are the same, the over the top Jumping and flipping from Twin Snakes drives me nuts! Cool game though my cousin had it and I would play it a lot in 2002 anytime I visited them!!
I am so glad it exists. Its like Otacon retcon version of MGS1. I like Original more, but i would be lying if i didnt love the absurdity of Twin Snakes.
@@matrix91234 I'm glad it exists, and I like it better than the original, because fuck me I guess. Why do I always happen to like things that are ABSOLUTELY DESPISED BY THE ENTIRE FANDOM THEY COME FROM! I thought MGS would be a break from that, but apparently every single game I played (Twin Snakes, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGRR) are all the worst game in the series! Why?!?!
Every cutscene with snake and Grey fox are perfect, the rest is I'll admit unnecessary but I still love it. The one thing I can't get over is (keep in mind I was raised on tts.) The briefing tapes. When I saw the original ones, it was so much better, I couldn't believe what I had missed.
He’s perfectly capable of doing all these stunts due to being incredibly skilled and also being a genetically enhanced clone of Big Boss. Nothing here is far fetched, plus it’s Metal Gear.
@@donkeykongisytpooping3002 Exactly. Solidus also did a whole bunch of crazy superhuman stuff in mgs2, plus when solid snake fights olga on the tanker, he does a matrix style bullet dodge. (and he dodged bullets in his fight with Big Boss)
Why they had to make Otacon more stupid? In the original game it was just dumb but he helped and it was more serious. His friendship with Snake in this game felt a bit toxic (how Snake pushes him, grab him in the cage scene, and even didn't help Otacon when he falls, remember his ankle was twisted)
The push was very light and was done in a more friendly way. Kind of like a head scratch. Also Snake grabbed him while he was in the cage in both games.
@@donkeykongisytpooping3002 Still doesn't change the fact that it ruined emotional scenes, like Sniper Wolf's death. The Twin Snake's version of the scene doesn't even COMPARE to the original's masterful version of the scene. It's like a night and day comparison. Or...a comparison of the masterpiece Sam Raimi Spider Man movies to the MCU movies.
exactly I'm looking at people in this comment section like they crazy. I mean come on you can take a guy who can control these, and somebody who can talk to the dead, and a psychic, and Cyborg Ninja, but you can't take a guy doing some flips and kicks and shit? I mean come on. Stuff like this has been happening in this series from its Inception. people tend to forget that the boss was a super soldier who could defeat 12 Men by herself in that are seconds oh, they also forgot the fact that somehow ocelot is using a revolver and he's constantly double-crossing people and should have been shot, yet nobody ever takes advantage of the fact that he only has six shots. Not to mention the sorrow you know the fury, psycho mantis, how decoy octopus can copy somebody so perfectly, everything in Metal Gear is unbelievable and Fantastical but that's the point. You're not a true fan of the series if you're going all know this sucks because snake couldn't really do that, when he does do stuff like that all the time. Otherwise how's he supposed to fight people like vamp and gray fox when they can both walk on water one of them can block bullets with a sword and the other one can't die oh, do you really think an average Soldier or even a really good soldiers going to survive and shit like that? No you need something like Captain fucking America
@@21forevergone nah there’s a difference. Snake is a Solider not some ducking ninja from Naruto. I mean sure he can flip but excessively like an anime....the way this game plays out is definitely how Octacon would tell the story. Must have wanted this to be a blockbuster flick or something
@@Sounds2Human I agree even Kojima said this is how he originally wanted it to look on the back on the game case.... it’s basically a over action pack mgs2 graphics upgrade on mgs1 ...
I've never played the first Metal Gear Solid (either of them), but even though I don't own a PS1 or a GameCube I'm now questioning which one I actually want. I want to play the PS1 version to know the more grounded experience but at the same time.... *LOOK AT THIS SHIT* .... How can I say no to such sheer batshit insanity?
I go to this video when I feel sad, this always gets me to laugh at how ridiculous these scenes get. My favorite part is at 1:36. Snake getting so mad and having a spaz out leaves me laughing so hard. XD Thanks for making this compilation video
The silliness of some of these moments kinda ruin plenty of scenes for me, I can’t take them seriously anymore, Sniper wolf death being one of the worst offenders imo, the addition of those inexpressive wolves and otacon stumbling like an idiot in such a serious moment killed the scene for me
They ruined nothing for me, I enjoyed every single moment of this game genuinely unfortunately. Why do I always (ALWAYS) happen to like things that are ABSOLUTELY DESPISED BY ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE!
@@xenoplayz4524 You know what's actually cringe? The fact that whenever I happen to like something I almost always suddenly find out that it's despised by the entire fanbase it came from. I thought I could get a break from this by playing the well renowned Metal Gear series, but NOPE, I happened to play all of the bad ones (Twin Snakes, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGRR). I feel cursed.
@@weatherman1504 mgs2, 3, 4, 5, peacewalker are all great games, twin snakes not so much, the graphics are obviously better and controls but the goofiness of random backflips and otacon falling ruins sad scenes like with sniper wolfs death or the ending that is supposed to be serious, the music is worse to no more best is yet to come, duel or escape just give those songs a lisen to understand the vibes mgs1 ps1 had and why that was better, scenes like 1:46 ruin this childhood game for me. The mgs2 gameplay also does not fit with the design of mgs1 it makes it way too easy, just look at the ocelot fight. Voice acting is worse lisen to both versions with the exception of liquid the rest sound bored in the codec calls. If a remake happens i hope it's more like the mgs1 ps1 version rather than matrix twin snakes.
I beat this along time ago and forgot mast of the ridiculousness but wtf was up with the ending while naomi is doing her monologue? Octacon falling down the hill really man wtf was that about the ending was supposed to be serious especially whe ln Naomi is talking
Not sure why people shit on this version of the game. The “it’s too over the top” argument is bullshit to me. Like really? This series was ridiculous and over the top from the beginning. Okay fine it’s more tongue in cheek in TTS, but why is this a bad thing considering where the rest of the series went?
The difference is in its tone. MGS1 sets itself up to be a realistic, down-to-earth, serious narrative and the weird anime shit is only peppered in later on juxtaposed alongside it, with Snake playing the straight man. And the anime shit is contextualized with specific characters and elements, so at no point does it ever stop being immersive, because the player can accept that a character like Gray Fox can do crazy stunts, but not Solid Snake, whose skills and knowledge are grounded in reality to contrast with the crazy stuff around him. Everything is played straight in MGS1, but in TTS, everything and everyone is over-the-top crazy from the get-go and it's almost like a cartoon.
@@DefinitiveDubs it's fiction fuck it Metal gear has clones People with Powers and súper soliders It's basically a history with action just like other franchises or fiction

@@jojogacha974 I was having a really bad week when I wrote that. It certainly didn't feel like it wasn't hated at the time. Still, I feel like supposed "fans" of the series hate most of the series. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone hated the upcoming MGS3 remake as well.
Ridicolous in comparison to what? Genome soldiers? Psychic soldiers? Cyborg ninja's? A russian soldier that dresses and fights like a cowboy? The US secret black ops project being a dinousaur shaped mech that launches nukes?
