Metallica One,Orion,Master Of The Puppets,Fade To Black,Seek & Destroy,Turn The page,Unforgiven 1 2 & 3 is also must react videos. Original or Live versions. So many concerts to choose from. Keep up the good work man. I see you already reacted to most of them,I gonna watch them now. But you should do some of the live versions also Between 90-early 2000's since they usually has better audio quality
personally for me, listening to this with the bass guitar enhanced, sounds more heavy, look up any "metallica - blackened(bass enhanced)" on youtube and you won't be dissapointed
@@drinsouthwestWAlol don't forget that it was jason who came up with that riff in the first place, lars and james found it so cool they turned it into a song
@@mattyjay8896after cliff died lars and james were never the same, jason didn't once get the recognition or respect he deserved, he didn't kill cliff, the bus did, lars and james pretty much treated him like he did because they were so fucked up emotionally after cliff died that their grief manifested into making jason the bands scape goat and punching bag for all their problems for the next 15 years until jason said "you know what?, fuck this, i quit", yes there was a lot more than that, i know, his band echobrain had lars and james give him an ultimatum of which band was more important, jason's original band(besides flotsam and jetsam) which lars and james never really gave him the musical recognition he deserved, and then his side project that he had full creativity to do whatever he wanted, which lars and james couldn't stand because of them both being egomaniacs, how jason quit and the napster thing is what made me stop listening to metallica, they weren't cool anymore to me, felt wrong to keep listening to them and coincidently i got into alice in chains and never looked back, i was 13
@@brianburkhard5209 That may have been the case for their emotional state, but honestly even just hearing this track from justice in the late 80’s and with the black album in 91, this was them at their absolute musical playing peak, physical and creatively \m/
This was the end of there peak after, the black album was major disappointment there only few songs on the black album that where good. This is also when they transition from Dave Mustaine impact as well Ride lightning and Kill Em all had Dave all of it.
@@992ras I guess it's my age. In a week I'll be 51. I didn't want MY band to grow up so to speak. The only band I ever loved that never changed their sound was AC/DC.
He said, "Ooh." Gotta get it right 😂 I was going to make a comment with the same line you quoted, but figured someone else beat me to it. It's such a perfect line for this song and pretty much any Metallica song, really.
They also should have toned down his snare drum on this album. Jason Newsted was probably like why the fuck did they hire me to play bass when all you can hear is this dickheads snare.
@@avsfan9618 nobody said he wasn't great. Baseline throughout the justice album was absent, therefore he made no effect on the album, thats why I said he wasn't needed
Jason wrote the opening riff and recorded it on his 4 track and showed it to James. James fell in love with it, and this resulted in Jason's first writing credit with the band. The cruel irony is; his bass was turned down the whole album. Still one of the best opening tracks of all time. This album kills it from beginning to end. To live is to die is a song really worth listening to. Probably my favorite on the entire album.
Definitely their best record (for me); there was nowhere to go after this one. It's the breathtaking cumulation of everything that came before. Thin production or not, this is their masterpiece.
I saw Metallica with 80,000 people in Montreal, they opened with this song into Master, me and my bud got right up on the front rail and got absolutely crushed by the crowd, most intense show I have ever experienced
If you enjoy this, try "Eye of the Beholder" off the same album. The lyrics ring true, even today. A hidden gem in their catalog that no one ever talks about .
@@MikeHart72 Not to mention, the way Lars rides the 8th notes in the verse is absolute fire. Don't get me wrong tho, Shortest Straw is still 9/10. It's a perfect album
This is a pro-environment song, an environmental warning, that came out in 1988, a few days after I started my sophomore year of high school. I wasn't into metal at that point; I was listening to Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and other classic rock. A kid named Matt Kirchner introduced me to Metallica one day by playing Blackened in the car as we skipped a study hall to go get some ice cream and an audio cable for his guitar/amp. Good times...
'And Justice' is often criticized for the drums, but for me this is - by far - the best Lars Ulrich production you will ever find. This song is absolutely great and the entire album is one of the top best of Metallica
This is my favorite opening song for a Metallica album period. Battery would be a close second from their Master of Puppets album. Love the album cover along with MOP of course.
FYI, James Hetfield has stated in an interview that this song was pretty much inspired by Slayer’s Reign In Blood album. That’s why that riff is so murderous and evil sounding. ...And Justice For All is tied for my favorite Metallica album along with Master of Puppets.
@@VideInfra He didn't have a ton of great riffs but heck yeah it's a great one (he wrote the main fast riff for those that didn't know). Most guitarists I get to know have 1 or 2 riffs they wrote that kick ass (R.I.P Gordo. - that riff was sick)
I dont think alot of people realize that. It's the same (in my opinion) with AC/DC's Back In Black album. They just lost Bon and it was a much edgier pissed off sound to it with Brian Johnson.
I still remember the 1st time i heard this song...my introduction to Metallica while in high school...my jaw hit the floor at how heavy it was and i was hooked... If you want a relentless track from them, "Dyers Eve" or "Damage, Inc" will not disappoint ;)
Jamel: "Relentless.... they never let up.... insane.... this was the one right here... they got my head hurting yall......" Me: *patiently waits for Battery with a sly grin
While listening to this jam I like to imagine Metallica as a Viking horde scorching the English countryside, driving the enemy before them and listening to the lamentation of their women. This is what is best in life!
The Black Album got me into Metallica in the 90's and then I bought this album, what an introduction this song was..... 3:45 - 4:15 Is a great instrumental/breakdown (or whatever it's called) 4:16 Opposition (opposition) Contradiction (contradiction) Premonition (premonition) Compromise Agitation (agitation) Violation (violation) Mutilation (mutilation) Planet dies Darkest colour, blistered Earth True death of life (solo/breakdown/interlude or whatever it is) (Termination) Termination (Inspiration) Inspiration (Cancellation) Cancellation Human Race (Expectation) Expectation (Liberation) Liberation (Population) Population Laid to waste See your mother, put to death See your mother die
I saw this tour when I was 19. They opened with this song and I will never forget how incredibly loud it was, yet it was totally listenable and focused. I was only 20 rows back on the floor and when Lars's snare comes in at the beginning...??? I almost crapped myself. Like being punched in the chest :o
I was 15. This is the 1st hard rock/heavy metal song I ever heard. Before this, I'd only heard Eddie van Halen and quiet riot. And that was only when we drove 100 mikes to my cousin's. This opened my eyes to an entire world I never knew music was possible of exploring
@@jvon3885 I meant underrated in that you never hear it on the radio, unlike Enter Sandman or Nothing Else Matters which are played constantly. Obviously amongst Metallica fans it's properly appreciated.
Jamel, I know this is an older reaction of yours but I love your "actual real live reaction" to it. As someone who has loved Metallica since their earliest days, it does my old heart good to see how much you appreciate them. I love your channel, keep up the good work my friend
This album had a lot of anger in it. They were mourning the loss of Cliff and you can hear it for sure! There are no happy songs,,, just straight getting after it
I'm not highly educated on music but I know what I like. If you're looking for a new thrash band I recommend the Belgian band Objector, I think their best song is My Mind Insane
bro you are literally the best music react channel! your genuine reactions keep me laughing and smiling throughout the whole video, seriously. i’ve been watching your channel for quite a while now and I just keep coming back! keep it up fam 🔥
Cold and mad and angry and melodic, the more I listen the more I think they should and will be considered as a Mozart or a bethoven or any historical music genius you can think off
No band has made such a string of legendary albums, ever. Kill em all, Ride the Lighting, Master, Justice, and Black. James Hetfield wakes up in the morning and pi**** excellence.
@@drjoshuamc you are right. I am more of a Pantera fan. RATM has been on XM radio a lot more than Pantera. Fresh in my mind. I would say you are 1000% right.
I've seen just a couple of videos of your channel, but you have a subscriber. I love seeing people introduced to the music I love. Living vicariously through people new to the music, the songs, I think this is why people constantly peddle music to each other haha!
I remember helping tar my friends roof to earn the money to buy this cassette. We sat on my porch popped in this cassette in Blackened came on. That was back in the day when you listened to a cassette from beginning to end and didn’t just fast forward it to the favorite song you heard on the radio. Probably the single most unexpected musical experience I ever had. In my opinion, The best song Metallica ever made! And that’s saying a lot! Absolutely love your reaction! That’s exactly what my reaction was. That’s my reaction every time I hear this song. Unfortunately after this album Metallica started to go downhill. I can’t even listen to anything that they’ve made after this album. They are even better live🤘🏽🤘🏽
Blackened! My absolute favorite Metallica song ever! So glad you reacted to it and loved your facial expressions throughout. Killer vocals, lightning riffs and thundering percussion and bass! Hell yeah. Wish I'd had been in studio with you on this one so we could have head banged together! 😁🎧🤘
Jamel you ARE NOT LYING!! This is one of, if not, the best song they ever wrote. Like I said previously, courtesy of Cliff. I’ll never forget being a teenager and this album came out!! Sadly no kids now growing up get to experience great music anymore...
@@olivierricci6550 "Blackened" really gets its point across, I'll give it that. "Orion" is strikingly beautiful though. There are easily a dozen all-time classics from those 80's albums that ine could legit single out as a favorite at any given time. Gonna have to play "Orion" (and the rest of "Master of Puppets" out on the highway today. Cheers.
This was the song they previewed from the album when they did the Monsters of Rock tour before this album dropped. They ripped into this and said to my friends that were with me if the whole album, is like this we are in for one hell of a record. I wasn't disappointed at all. Still one of my favorite Metallica albums this was them at their absolute most angry. A lot of frustration at Cliff dying came out on this record. I think they shot their load as far as song writing went , because they never really wrote like this again ,at least not consistently . There'd be flashes here and there.
You may notice the overall sound quality is kinda high end and tinny. Lars (the drummer) had unresolved issues with the death of their bassist Cliff Burton and was notorious for taking it out on their new bassist Jason Newstead. During production Lars told the engineer to turn the bass down in the mix to an almost inaudible level. The album, while classic and incredible, suffered in overall quality by not having any bottom end or low from bass. You can search for this song (and album) remixed to include bass and it's skull crushing. It's called And Justice For Jason.
At the same time, I think the lack of bass really gave the album a Progressive-sounding edge to it. Something just hits different and it feels more like a cold hard slap of reality. With less low end, harsher distorted guitars, and thin click-like drums, it managed to put more emphasis on the words being spoken.
I don't think it suffered much, 8 million sales in the US alone without much radio airplay at the time. I get it though they could have/should have raised the bass in the mix some, but I do disagree with the suffering part. I'm just glad I got to see them on the Masters tour with Cliff.
@@5yearsout Lucky you :) I started listening to them in 88, and saw them 5 times on the AJFA tour.. and would have given almost anything to see them with Cliff.
To have full context you gotta know that when this song was brand new many Metallica fans like me were hearing this as the first track on the first album since Cliff had died. It's a heavy album, in sound and subject matter. RIP Cliff. Love the channel, always grateful for your positive vibes. Peace
"I paused it just to look at yall to make sure...I was still here, you know. Brothers melt my face off. Melted my damn face off!" LMAO my favorite comment of yours ever! F'n awesome. Sums it up quite nicely.
I've been buying it for 3 yrs now. I give it out for Christmas presents and never had 1 complaint. Only compliments. I bought their S&M bottle but haven't touched it yet. It's too perfect. 😁
