Metallica has always been centered around the rhythm guitar riffs everything else around it just plays to the song so at times Rob and Lars are going to be subdued

This isn’t the full song. They left out a whole middle section before the solo. Full song is two minutes longer than this.

Many years ago, after LOVING Metallica's cover, I tracked down the original by Diamond Head. My initial impression was, "Wait, they didn't have the solo at the end.....THE BEST PART OF THE SONG!" It made me love the cover even more knowing that was a Hammett original solo! By far Metallica's is the superior version.
