I really like how the snare in this song sounds like the St. Anger snare but a properly mastered and mixed version of it. This song is how I imagine St. Anger would've sounded with proper instrument mastering and mixing.

Story time: my dad who is from a small town 20 minutes from monument valley where parts of this was filmed got to hangout and party with James and Newsted over night, not while they were filming this but another time in the early 90s, not sure why they were there the first time but I’ve seen footage of them hanging out in monument valley when they all still had long hair lol, but pretty dope though

This maybe a "cool story bro" kinda thing but here we go. One Friday in May in 2000 I came home from school and put on the Kerrang! channel. There was this video of these 4 guys playing this really groovy metal on top of this giant rock in the middle of the desert. Anyway there was this dude dressed all in black, wearing a black beanie and playing this really big guitar. I had no idea what a bass was at the time you see. I said to myself "I want to be like that guy" That guy was Jason. That summer I worked 2 jobs so I could buy my first bass which was a Black Aria STB P-Bass copy (which I still own all though it's been heavily modified) Some 19 years later I'm still playing bass and Jason is still a massive influence on my playing. It's ironic how it was the last Metallica video he appeared in and the last Metallica song he played on. Jason, if you ever see this, Thank you man.

I love how James, Lars, and Kirk all have something intense happening to them, like running from planes, jumping out a building, driving away from weird nature bullshit, etc. and then Jason is just getting bumped around trying to go up some stairs.

The amount of “Hyey”s in this song is unmatched

I find this as Metallica's most stylish song. Amazing vibes, great arrangement, the opening riffs gives me Enter Sandman vibes and the solo is like a Jimi Hendrix experience. Fantastic video too especially Jason's part was very well shot and acted, the lighting was spot on. It's one of those songs in my playlist that will be on repeat before moving on to the next one.
