James has overall better timing... but in all fairness, one thing (and maybe one of the only things) that Lars is actually very good at is octuple bass drum hits.
Nah. Yes Lars slips up in some parts (as do the other guys - see the covid charity broadcast)) but the machine gun part in One isn't usually one of em.
love how chill and relaxed this vid is. it's almost like they're watching Metallica just rehearse and dick around instead of just playing an actual concert. I dig it
*yeah it's a pretty decent instrumental. especially comes to life at a live show when the audience sings along to the melody (doesn't quiet translate on video- have to be there)*
Lars was holding up the show talking to his son in the Metallica 'Friend's and Family' room - which I was lucky enough to be in that night. Yeah, I wouldn't believe me either - but it's true. Cheers!
Do you know if the drums were overdubbed? If you look at 7:41 to 7:46 there's a time where you hear a cymbal hit and a time where you hear a snare hit and lars isn't playing either of them. Can you confirm this please? This is driving me nuts.
A drummer that wanted to be a guitar player and a guitar player that wanted to be a drummer, and now we have Metallica....... the O.G American Thrash metal band\m/
Lars is a lot better than him face it. But i agree that he's the best guitarist of the band (I still love the bluesy rock-'n'-roll-ish style of Kirk Hammett but he's no very technical nowadays.)
3:08 Lars calls Avi to turn up the cooling fans, 'cause it's too hot on stage. Few years later, Avi will sing with Metallica on stage as the back-vocalist. That's the career! 😁
James did this way back in 1990...whatever during the "year and a half in the life of Metallica" era. He and Lars also had a drum battle. I still have it on vhs lol
Funny how Lars compliments his stagehand "Avi" as, "the hardest working man in the business" in the same breath of asking him to turn the air on back there because the premadonna drummer is a little warm behind the drum kit - poor pampered little baby is such a high maintence princess. God forbid if he should break a sweat on his royal forehead & brow! 😖🌊🌈
@@kukelhupf that is fair. I too am quite familiar with the heat projected along with stage lighting. It's just that most in the live performance line of work don't choose to take the moment to register the compliant publicly while on stage DURING a performance that they are carelessly appearing late to. All eyes were already on him, because of that very reason. He's obviously a very special kind of musician & shouldn't be exposed to such abusive & unfair work conditions. He ought to report this to his local union representative! -lol- 😂
It's an extremely tricky intro. Rob is the only one consistentpy playing, so the other three have to know where to come in, and it's super-syncopated. That's how you know it's live.
James is awesome! I wish James and Kirk would trade solos on more songs. Robert is no slouch either! Come on guys give us one more Speed Metal record with groves and riffs.
7:40 what audio am I hearing? Lars is surely fucking it up playing the one part too early but the audio is fine... Why would they fix it for liveMet audio?
I could sit and watch and listen to Robert play bass guitar all night without James Hetfield and lars urich and Kirk hammett just Robert on stage playing bass guitar
Mucker, you mannaged to keep us in video until it ends even after some point it's not even a video, just a record. I'd say you'd be a great bussined person. Take that advice.
Wtf..... Lmao this is fucking gold, 🤣 where was Lars. This can't be an actual concert. Must've been a special appearance or something.... I died when Lars just walked out and still made them wait to put his shoes on 😫😭 looool grandpa Lars
They aren’t loosers sure they aren’t the same Metallica from the 80s and 90s. But they’ve sold millions of albums. If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it. Also don’t say they are bad or you can do better because everyone knows that you can't be better than Metallica or Metallica themselves
And that's why they don't play this masterpiece live. And that's why don't play the intros of Dyers Eve, or Spit Out The Bone, or Hardwired, and others. Anyway, they still kicking ass and still the best band on earth
@@igortokarski9517 *never playback ahah he just made a mistake and it was corrected in post. there's tons of mistakes that were overdubbed (not just Lars). can't blame them really since they played a completely different setlist bar Seek every night for four nights. think they played north of 80 (think 85-ish) different songs over the span of those 4 shows which is a mindfuck and a half. probably just wanted to have the most obvious flubs ironed out for the official recording. these 4 shows still rank as one of the most downloaded live recordings on **livemetallica.com** (there's a top 8 and all 4 of them are in it).*
The video was taken with a camera on the crowd, the audio is from the official audio they put on their website, can you imagine the audio from the camera being this good?
