Damage justice tour was the first time i saw Metallica live at Festival hall Melbourne, Australia, cemented me as a fan for life!

Anyone who's into Metallica should give multiple listens to The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky. Trust me. Put it on a great system and turn it up. You'll hear the parallel. I don't know if it ever influenced this group, but they have the same inventiveness. It's wonderful.

Been at these tour shows in 88 89 and 90 great show when they were still the best band out there and James was one of the best singers out there. Untill that black album happend and the people who always complained about heavy metal being untalented blur of screeching sound started attending thier shows and messed up the entire atmosphere and feel. I still listen to the recording a friend made of the nov 88 Leiden show.

It's funny to watch them from this era, because they talk a lot about being proud to represent the heavy metal category for example, and be a member of this genre. They seem to really care about it. Nowadays in interviews they just say "ohhh...we don't like to be labeled, bla bla bla".

I had seen this way back when it first aired. I had forgot how bad Kirk was at interviews. Lars and Jason were always great at interviews. James is good also, but it`s not his thing. I also find it funny is says Dave Mustine `left`the band.

The show with Doris hitting Lars drum kit is actually filmed on a bootleg video. The head just touches the cymbal stands to Lars left side.

Metallica on the 88 and 89 Damage Justice tour plus Queensryche opening for them on their Operation Mindcrime tour is just epic. Prog metal and Thrash at it's best during the late 80s. Grunge happened not long after this and destroyed most metal acts until a resurgence in 95.

Umm I like listening to things that all the band members have to say about what goes on around them and how the recording process happens and so fourth and that's umm really cool to listen to and so fourth

This takes me back to my first year outta high school. Back to when Metallica was for the fans and the same fans who built them up from nothing. This was before girls and preppies bought the Black Album which in my opinion forever changed Metallica. We, who had the Kill Em All and Lightning LPs, who traded the tapes, wore the back patches they bought out of the back of Hit Parader magazine, bought the tickets, and carried the gospel of thrash were gone after this tour. We left when the Black Album came out and never went back. Anyone who hung on left after they saw the band wearing eye liner and make-up(?!) in the "Until it Sleeps" video. This band will always be bittersweet to me because I remember the days when Metallica were called "Alcoholica" and we were a secret club that checked your "metal I.D" at the door. We, who are in their late to mid 40s, will always remember Cliff Burton and what used to be. These days were the salad days........

I remember seeing One on Mtv for the first time. The video was very cool and wasn't as produced as everything else. I think the lack of production gave it the energy.

I was only 10 years old during this time too bad I wasn't born sooner it would have been awesome to have gone to a metallica show during the late 80s
