same ! i started playing guitar because of Metallica. Earned money as a musician for 12 years because of Metallica. I've been playing guitar now for 32 years, because of Metallica.
james is without a doubt the most humble and low key front man of all time. From his stories u can understand why Metallica’s first 5 albums are so authentic and ferocious
I think every album Metallica has made was honest and authentic in it's own way. If you listen to each individually without comparing you can definitely feel the change of mood, focus and feel of each.
Damn how Howard tackles through issues and questions with such tact and forwardness. It's refreshing. He's crazy good. also Metallica forever. So lovely to see James being so humble and honest
The story about Metallica's gear being stolen here in Boston (The Channel was the venue) is famous. In a wicked cool move, the band gave a Metallica tribute band en entire set up after they, themselves, got robbed.
I saw Metallica twice in my country Lima-Perú on 2010 and 2014. The first show was great and emotional.... But the second was very brutal, actually was one of their best in years... Check the 2014 By Request set list...A worldwide jewel,a lot of metal.
Omg... This brings me.back to my bedroom I the 80's with my stereo cranking ..air guitar wailing .....screaming.my brains out....Pure Passion for this music. Thanks Howard.....it was 92.3 k rock !!..damn I have chills !
Howard Stern is the best in his industry, he knows what he’s doing and knows how to maximise an interview to the fullest emotions, informations, history and music. And Metallica, no words left to be said about them.
IMO he just loves the sound of his own voice. Talks over everyone and tells people how they feel. I'm not interested in the presenter, I wanna hear what the guests have to say, just let them speak!
Can't even recall how many hours I've spent listening to all of their music. My favorite band next to RHCP. Both have awesome history and music. Had a blast watching this whole interview!
I myself took piano lessons in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Got board of it. I heard a Metallica song for the first time and met a kid that knew a few songs. I picked up a guitar in 9th grade and haven’t put it down yet. Rock on!! 🤘🏻
Howard is right people talk shit about Lars’ drumming I’ve seen it on RU-vid. Guess what ?? he’s made a living doing it for 40 years so I reckon he’s good enough.
17:23 ..non of em knows whos Richard Christy ? even Stern knows. Richard is not just their big fan..but one of the most talented death metal drummer and most known from time when he played in Death ,,,, this guy is total monster on drums...
Lars knows Richard and you can tell by the way he was asking if he was there before coming in. I'm almost positive that a few years before this interview with the band that Lars had a solo interview and Richard came in and talked with him.
When they started playing one I about teared up as well. Listening to the interview in my car on a 8,000 watt system made it much more powerful. Feeling the bass and Lars slamming the drums was just excellent. Well done Howard
This was pretty awesome! I remember when Type O Negative played on the Howard Stern show & that was a funny episode with Peter Steele’s dark humour + they played there cover song “Cinnamon Girl” by Neil Young.
No idea what James says during Sandman at 1:11:57 but it's so cool to see he an Lars having a laugh about it during the song 😆 James still laughing about it to the end of the next line 😆
They aren't "late" to start but when I saw them recently there was a liitle more than 1.5 hours between the opener and them coming out. So we were all ABSOLUTELY waiting forever.
I learned how fuckin loud Metallica was the first time I saw them live. I wonder what Howard's neighbours in that building in other offices and studios were thinking when they performed. You could probably hear them outside on the street. 🤣
What a great interview! Fantastic questions inlike any other interviews and of course the demeanor of the interviewer has a lot to do with it, very natural and relaxed host.
Really good time watching this..you guys are really inspiring..good responses to a couple of those questions I have to say thank you for many many good times..your music played a huge roll in many of our lives..
