That's quite a feat, too! I just saw where Metallica has a new album coming "Soon". They didn't say when, or give any information as to how many songs will be on it, or what the Title of the Album would be, just that a new album is coming. Think about this, too:Of the 10 regular studio albums that Metallica has released since their Debut Album, Kill 'em All, came out, everyone of them has gone, at the very least, Platinum! Kill 'Em All (1983)-3,000,000+. Ride The Lightning (1984)-6,000,000+. Master Of Puppets (1986)-6,000,000+. ... and Justice for All (1988)-8,000,000+ . The Black Album (1991)-16,000,000+. Load (1996)-5,800,000+. Re-Load (1997)-4,000,000+. St. Anger (2003)-2,000,000+. Death Magnetic (2008)-2,000,000. Hardwired...To Self-destruct (2016)-1,000,000++.
It really isn’t a terribly difficult song to play, especially for guys that have been playing this style of music for going on 40 years. Definitely fun though.
James' stage walking had me rolling. He's like a manager up there: "How's it coming kirk? You good? You need Lars to slow it down a bit? Lars, kirk's having a tough time over there, you think you could slow...atta boy, thanks. Rob how's it....nm, you good". Glad to finally see them do this live.
lmao exactly like a manager,it's impressive how he still has the will to play with lars and kirk ,considering that even at this age he's in the top 5 rhythm guitarists in the world .
100% agree. They all seem like adults now, and it's refreshing to watch their "making of" videos and interviews now. They've got their quirks, but they seem to have matured well.
Well buddy it's a fact, and everybody in the world knows it except you obviously,James was and is one of the best rhythm guitarist of all time, arguably the best especially if we take into consideration his riff writing skills and the impact those riffs had on metal and hard rock music. His riffs influenced and created like 90% of post Metallica bands son. He's the best and fastest downpicker since the beginning of time and as a special bonus he sings very well while playing.Have a nice day :)
This is the kind of stuff we'd like a full album of. They can obviously still write good shit when they want to. Best part is at 5:08. That riff is bad ass.
Yea I also really like now that we're dead and here comes revenge even confusion and halo on fire are real good. This is prob the best one overall on the newest album though. This is as thrash as it gets for the naysayers saying they don't do thrash anymore. They used to say that now I've seen them say stuff like they're just trying to sound like the 80s version of themselves. Isn't that what we've been wanting them to do since the 80s left? Lol. Some people are never happy. This shit kicks ass
The smile on James's face at 4:23 is worth a thousand words and it makes me tear up man. He and Kirk have been together for 30+ years and they still fucking kick ass 🤘🤘🤘
It's insane to me that some people can put Kirk Hammett down. The fact that the man not only has to keep up with James' riff hand, yet he does it and does it well, is a paramount indicator of how awesome he is at what he does.
This is the first Metallica song to give me chills since I first heard Dyers Eve over thirty years ago when I first got ...And Justice For All on cassette. After twenty years I never thought that it would happen again. I am glad that I was wrong. This song is amazing!!
I see a lot of people slagging on Rob. In my opinion he is an incredible bass player that had huge shoes to fill, and is filling them gracefully while kicking ass at the same time. Long live Metallica, the greatest metal band EVER!!
Rob should really practice the backing vocals. He's an amazing bass player and I can't take that away from him, but his vocals really suck. Of course they're getting old as time goes but they still have time and they could make their time much better if Lars practiced more etc.
'Newsted did Metallica a huge favor when he quit' You're joking right ? He's a slightly more technical bass player, thats it. Jason was the fire in Metallicas belly, that fire went out when he left.
Those guitar harmonies between Kirk and James will literally never get old. As soon as I heard that they finally played it I rushed to the video so I could see this brilliance.
Everyone hating on Lars, so go figure that he composed a lot of the best Metallica songs with Hetfield. He was awesome here. Lars is badass. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@schmeisel_level5560 what are you on about? All he did was pull the tremolo lever all the way to finish the effect and not break it half way through, after that, he kicked right back into the rhythm section with James. No need to hate when there’s no need to hate🤗
"A little bit of Justice album flavor." - From a shitless slave region of humanism being suffered under hoon-tribe-originated-parasitism and kiki'she' collectivism which is known as the name 'Korea', whose dwellers always steals and begs from Japan's original history which clearly inherited sincere humanity in Ancient Kudara more than its 'original' dwellers in hometown.
metfan4l I would say this is one of Lars worst performances ever. Out of time the hole song, no db and the snare fills are just awful. People actually pay 100 bucks to hear this shit. Amazing
Yes ffs, put down those fckin phones. Bang your head, mosh it up. Do anything but standing there filming with a phone. You can do that at a bieber show or sumit silly like that. Jason was awesome i think. I'd give anything to turn back time 'n Jason stays 'n Rob never joins. But oh well, at least Metallica is still kicking ass.
Haven't listened to any album since reload, didn't even listen to load. Went to see them a couple of weeks ago listening to kill em all on the way, expecting them to be meh.. and haven't stopped listening to this album since... Awesome that they regained a bit of that magic 🤘🏻
Likewise! Hearing my favourite Metallica song played live for the first time at my first ever Metallica concert? I died. Luckily others in the moshpit helped me back up.
THE CHORUS, MUSICALLY, IS ONE OF THE BESTS I'VE EVER HEARD. IT JUST MAKE ME CHILLS AND FILL MY SOUL WITH AMAZING EMOTIONS. THIS DEFINITELY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES METALLICA'S SONGS EVER!!! 🤘🏼🎶
I think they decided (or just James playing live, idk) to play it this way because this chord suits the song/riff better when it's upstroked ! This chord sounds better to me up-picked than down-picked in my opinion also...I'm a guitar player 🤷🏻♂️
@That One Guy It was not a matter of exhaustion. He rushed and started playing in the wrong beat as he ended the easiest part of the solo sooner, it's pretty obvious the problem with him is he doesn't study his own solos as hard as he should.
Was there up in the nose bleeds. Saw a lot of criticisms about the crowd being flat. I can say that it wasn't. Counted 6 separate pits circulating like satellite imagery of hurricanes on a weather forecast during this. The moment that intro started kicking in, was a buzz to say the least...
His backing vocals sound better here because cell phone recordings make everything sound like shit, not because he overdubbed anything before we go down that line
Spit out the bone Come unto me and you will feel perfection Come unto me and dedicate Come unto me, you'll never feel rejection Come unto me and terminate Remove your heart, it's only good for bleeding Bleeding through your fragile skin Remove your thought, 'cause it's only for deceiving Deceiving thoughts destroy within Disappear like man was never here Long live machine The future supreme Man overthrown Spit out the bone Plug into me, I guarantee devotion Plug into me and dedicate Plug into me and I'll save you from emotion Plug into me and terminate Accelerate, Utopian solution Finally cure the Earth of man Exterminate, speeding up the evolution Set on course a master plan Reinvent the earth inhabitant Long live machine The future supreme Man overthrown Spit out the bone The flesh betrays the flesh Your man has had his time We lay him down to rest Machine the new divine Stop breathing And dedicate to me Stop dreaming And terminate for me All meaning You dedicate to me All feelings You terminate for me Disappear like man was never here Long live machine Our future supreme Your man overthrown Spit out the bone, yeah
because it's the "cool " thing to do. Got to hate on Metallica cuz it shows your cred, yo! I admit, Rob's backing vocals...are not his strong suit. But I've heard some pretty crappy ones from Jason over the years, and people slobber all over his stuff for some reason. *shrugs*. If I were to have a "knock" it's that I wish Metallica didn't have to learn their own songs... I am not a fan of how Lars constructs the albums, overall (I prefer Maiden where they actually play through the whole song in the studio, instead of playing cut and paste), but end of the day as long as they eventually hit the stage like this? I'll keeping going to their shows every chance I get.
Jason will never sing backing vocals again. Lars had some weak years. So did James. Make peace with it and move on. Enjoy how remarkable they are 36 years later.
Your comment should be on top of their many songs, so that people (not actual fans) will stop complaining about them and and how they're actual humans.
I go along with the first three points but apart from that this song is made for a tiny underground metal bar with 100 insane drunk metal-heads kicking the shit out of each other while raging to this song! Even though I always loved Metallica, it's been a while since I felt that way while listening to one of their songs... \m/ Glad they can still pull that off! :)
Justin Lorusso Death Magnetic was a start, but you can't say that they were back with that album. That is, unless you were a fan of lulu. Death Magnetic wasn't as great as it was made to be by most. Yes, it was much better than St. Anger and lulu, and it had its great songs here and there. If Metallica was back after Death Magnetic, they would've never released the worst album in Metallica history right after it, lulu. They would've said, hey, this album is pretty dang retarded and ether trashed it, or just released it as a Lou Reed album.

I hate those fake metal chicks, They like the look but don't really like the music that much. I bet she was listening to Taylor Swift or some other bullshit on the way home.
+Charles Russell I love how people nowadays bash people for recording concerts, but they praise all the people that recorded their concerts in the 80s and 90s.
Plus Metallica have always been a pro-bootleg band. That was how they used to get known around back in the days. The only difference is that today everybody have a phone to record the show where it used to be a few people who were able to get recording equipment in.
A bootleg is an illegal copy, you could consider file-sharing the same. remember the whole Napster thing? They aren't pro any more I think. Not judging anyone just an observation.
I was there, at this gig, on the train journey up to the gig, I was thinking, I want to hear Spit Out The Bone, but they have never played it live, and it is probably the one song I will never see live. When the drums started, my brain was trying to work out what song was starting, and then No, no way, and then James "especially for you London". OMG my best night ever.
Dead Man's Revenge see I didn’t say I don’t like Metallica, but Rob should never be within 20 feet of a microphone. Perhaps that’s a little more simpler for you.
I was looking at his posture and I realized that's the same outfit as the Seattle 89 era, and the same James. Just less hair and more belly lol I'm making jokes but hell I wish I could age like him!
This particular performance of this song, under my headphones, late at night, really took me back to the late 80s when i first found metallica. Thank you guys!💪
