James should have ditched the guitar and put on an arm cast for this song while John plays rhythm, just for the memories

That third guitar in the chorus is amazing. Just like the album version.

The 6'7" guitar monster helped through the tough times when metallica had a full touring schedule when james burned his arm! Was their guitar tech at one point but left to join Metal Church then quit due to health issues

The part JM plays under the chorus = fucking awesome. Should be played always and should have been higher in the original mix on TBA.

John reminds me of Chris Novoselic, Nirvana's bass player...

He also filled in on the Master of Puppets tour in '86 when Hetfield broke his arm due to a skate board accident.

@jugthugular He was Kirk's guitar tech in the 80's and into the 90's sometime. He filled in on guitar for James on three occasions. I like what James said about him, "If you're a roadie (or something like that) learn the band's songs!". John saved them the hassle of having to reschedule the shows. There's a pic somewhere of John onstage standing next to Cliff two nights before the accident. The next night James was back on guitar. Sorry for the history lesson. ;-)

The most interesting part of this performance is John's guitar fill during chorus is more interesting than that of Kirk.

For people who don't know who John Marshall is he used to be the guitar tech for Kirk Hamett until he joined the band metal church in 1989. Played guitar for the band when Hetfield broke his wrist skateboarding during part of the 86 tour while James recovered. Also in 1991 when James got burnt during the Pyro accident in Montreal

The actor who played Jaws is Richard Kiel. He is 7'2". At 6'7", John Marshall is still tall of course. Not as tall as Mr. Kiel, obviously. He (John) does look a bit like Mr. Keil, however.

In a perfect worl MetallicA would have Jason and John still in the band. 3 guitarists (with James also on lead vox) then Rob and Jason both on bass but Jason doing lots of backing vox (which he does perfectly).

@ToughestMilkman I AM a bass player. I started playing after hearing The $5.98 EP and watching Cliff 'em All. Cliff Burton along with John Entwistle (who sometimes *GOD FORBID* used a pick - listen to "My Generation") are my fave bassists of all time! I use my FINGERS on my girlfriend, and on my (Rickenbacker) bass. *Neither complain*. Are you trying to say people like John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney, Carol Kaye, Chris Squire, etc. and so on, aren't "good" bassists?

@nordmartv Well, yes, but my take on that is, he blew his voice out over 20 years ago. Not many people are the same after that (Harry Nilsson being the extreme case.) So, James really has to be careful singing, especially live. Also the fact that Jame isn't 23 years old anymore. I think he's doing just fine provided the circumstances. Hell, even Dave Mustaine is sounding pretty rough nowadays.

You can see that John is a bit awkward with his length, you see him bent over a little and his back seems very stiff probaly because he was used to make him self a little smaller not to get noticed.
