I was honestly very disappointed with the level 35 runewords but this made up for it. Fantastic addition. I hope to hear about more quality of life updates though and more end game content. Fingers crossed 🤞 The only thing that I wished was tweaked was by making the bear sorc be able to use this runeword somehow because you can't use this helmet while using dual dream.

This one definitly sticks out compared to the ones revealed prior, I think it's a cool one and I've already been kinda wanting to try shapeshift so I might give this one a spin

I love how unique this rw is compared to what has been available up til now - keen to see what else this opens up for other class/build specific rws - pretty cool!

Any idea if the devs have thought about how to switch between forms a little easier? Maybe only having to cast bear form will allow you to switch directly from wolf form to bear? And vice versa?

I know it sound super silly, but could they also make it so you can swap between forms without needing to go to human form? Would make a huge difference for a build that wants to swap between forms and use rhis helm

I think this can be a nice runeword. Hope we get more of this next ladder.

my main thing with this RW... if devs are putting another skill that have timer, maybe it's time, to implement some timers for buffs, visible on screen. that would be, for now, better option, than new RW's. knowing when the shouts go off, HS go off etc, would be viable, and this resolution have space for it.

This is an interesting possibility. Perhaps it should be more expensive in terms of runes, have an Um it it intead of a fal and grant more resistances.

This could be really cool in conjunction with beast-but it needs 1 of two things-either it comes with attack oskills,maul and fury,for wolf barbs and beareverythings, or you make it so other classes can use their native skills in ss form. A tigerstrike bearsin , a whirlwolf barb, a zeal/chargebear. Otherwise this is just prebuff cheese for beast users and a pretty sweet helm for druids. I like it,but don't think it goes far enough to be really interesting.

so glad blizz is reaching out to true content creators that are devoted to d2. you guys can shape the game for the blizzard community without blizzard having to theory craft too much with balance and such. i'm excited to see what other input you guys get to put in. hopefully we get a brunsksi hammer or a llamma pajama runeworrd. you guys ( d2 content creators) can really help shape the game and thats gotta feel really special to you! This runeword tries to get players into mixing up shapeshift forms, like it is in D4. Only in D4, shapeshift happens after using specific druid melee and howl skills. Interesting how it will be managed in D2R. We will have to see.

I wonder if you need to use actual Wolf and Bear specific striking abilities to proc this, that would immediately end all theorycrafting shenanigans with using Beast. Cool runeword design, but I also think people will just focus on one form like you said, tap into the off-form to proc the buff and back to the main form to get both buffs rolling, which is not thought out properly I guess but it's a strong runeword anyways

this will be amazing...that plus 5 with shockwave oh so good, the buffs will make for more options to play with gore riders, duress, fleshrender, spirit shield of stormshield, ribcracker, you get the idea extra life more crushing blow melee madness and not a paladin

Adding and changing things are great and I love them (reguardless if I'll use them or not) but this gets my hopes up for one day we'll get better endgame, like realms (something like what mods do) we can go to maps that are different or meshed together, have new hellish monsters or a mix of the ones we have with new set moves and skills. I know they probably don't want to change that much due to the game being old and has set lore and whatever but it needs something.

Beast runeword + wolfhowl + this = free stats on barb (yes you can take off woflhowl and stay in werewolf form)

Bear zon, max passives crit/dodge/evade etc. Iv tested it before on a D2:LoD pvp server. All items were vanilla. And was wrecking fury druids and fury barbs and smiters..couple steps to buffing but well worth the results

Dat Cham rune, used in 6 runewords already. It was only used in 3 before Resurrected came along. Definitely great to see the rune get more use cases. Hoping to eventually see Zod get at least like 5 runewrods it's used in.

This is a great RW. But it would be even better if the if we could shift from one form into the other, without haveing to shift back to human form in between.

Druid and necro have my favorite skils in the game. Clay golem and the bear. Honestly wish I could summon ungodly amounts of bears

I could see this being used on every melee now as a prebuff item in conjuction with Beast. It would be a lot of work, but it's a pretty insane buff. Not sure how I feel about this.

GM Melee Fury druids love this thing. Friend made it in hero editor and his fury druid had like 11k life. I feel stupid as barb now.

I like the uniqueness, but I'd much prefer mark of the bear/wolf to give a sort of cleave property or splash. After all, it was never damage or survivability (all the buffs this really brings) that was an ss druids problem. Clear speed in general seems to need tweaking for melee to compete.

I see this on armageddon/fire wolf/bear. Becose with this u can use obediance or +7 ele maul and that gives u a lot options.

i love rune words that give new skill, it can allow playstyles that were are less viable to be competitive with the current meta etc. in the furtur it can also make melee builds more interesting and change said meta

I hope we get something visual indicating the buff is active

It's indicative of a new design direction for runewords and maybe uniques. Rather than it being the standard of recycling an ability from a class, it's creating an entirely new ability that is exclusive to the runeword.

Interesting helm to help with the Druid who is fun, but not excellent at anything. I would not waste a Cham rune on making this though if I ever found one! I would try to make this though if this runeword extended the radius and power of shockwave for the werebear or caused an area of effect damage for the werewolf's fury skill?

I'm SO stoked to make the bugged shockwave druid and make a +8 shockwave helmet. Now a couple melee hits will give me +25% DR and +40% life!

Seeing what they have for us next season , i prolly gonna play Wolf dudu with this helm and the corpse eplosion new runeword shield ( for abit of aoe ) . going 1 bear skill to proc the helm. unless they reveal something else aswell that makes aoe as melee druid easier

They should have the bonuses scale by the number of skill points in those skills. I think the simple single buff from a 1-pointer is too much.

I think this is a step in the right direction. One thing I always felt was lacking on shapeshift builds is the clear speed. There's just no AOE in their kits aside from rabies. I think PD2 got it right by making all melee attacks splash and then balancing damage accordingly.

I think the words pretty cool. The idea of swapping between forms obviously influenced from D4 and definitely not something I care about (dont be doing it in D4 either, but will play WB/WW). But that aside the issue they're gonna run into is - that shit takes forever in D2. Like transforming straight up takes awhile and has a CD even after your finished. Plus using WW while your a WB results in you just unshifting. So yeah outside of someone willing to do the janky shit like you mentioned with helmet swapping all the time but for the Druid your talking about Shifting, that taking a second, then hitting stuff just so you can unshift and re-shift which will take 2 seconds of you doing jackshit (and making you more vulnerable). If they can change it so using WW while in WB literally shifts you into WW and vice versa? Well maybe you got something. But then you still have the skill point investment issues. I guess you would pick 1 primary and just take 1 skill from the non-primary to just hopefully get a hit with before shifting? That'll be a lot of fun hitting the air. That'll take some heavy unjankening to make it fun.

This runeword is actually insane.

This one is not for lazy players but for players that like to micromanage and use key switches a lot. When you do hardcore 8 player terrorised zones u like to have any edge.

they should do a runewords like that for all class orb sorc for sorc wepon for barb etc septer for paladin to a wand for necro etc

This seems like it's VERY specifically for doing Ubers. Without the ability to swap directly between wolf and bear form, I think this will be used strictly to pre-buff for 3 minutes. Especially if you intend to proc treachery, you start to run out of useful buff time. Not to mention the differences in gearing for the different forms making it difficult to use both efficiently.

Shockwave bear!!! Possible +8 to shockwave. Oh my oh my. Furthermore, I consider that: Bears need to attack a lot faster or they need to hit multiple targets with a single swing. Shifters need to be able to tele while shifted or other classes need their special skills to block tele as well. Barb BOs, no tele. Pally casts HS, no tele. Energy shield up, no tele. You get the idea. Singling out the least played class is ridiculous.

I wish they would add some new endgame options like maps at minimum.

i love this unique as well as the Shael Io + tal/ral/thul/sol/ort runewords. Great helm, the +3 bases are gonna be worth checking evne more now sadly, I dont think any other class will be tempted to use this helm since the +5 shapeshiftting skills (druidonly) wont carry over. Werebear barb was my dream long ago but it turns out its just bad compared to a druid Other classes shape shifting should be encourages a little bit i think, at least so the broken ones come back into meta

if they want this to work like thay say then they need to change druid to be able to instant change from bear to wolf. without having to go to caster worm between.

This is the first I've seen Rune Words add unique effects that's not just from the usual list of universal affixes and effects shared by all items in the game. It's starting to resemble D3's Legendary effects in some way, or am I mistaken?

Sounds pretty cool. Always nice to see ss druids getting some love. I'm wondering if you can switch the helm out after the buff like you woulda CTA. Hopefully they add some harder end game/uber content Those buffs seem awesome. But I don't know if they'd add much to the game outside of pvp They seem like they might be a bit OP for vanilla pvm. This sounds like a step in the right direction from blizzard. I'm cautiously looking forward to see what's to come from the franchise. I want to see them actually make rabies useful for druids. If they wont buff the damage to make it a viable skill, make rabies apply some kind of debuff to the enemies so it can be a utility skill.

Thank you for this video! I have always loved fury druids but they have never been able to stand up to other characters. This entices me to play a druid once again! I still hope with everything I have in me that they do stackable currency. At least runes, gems and keys.

I wish the +5 shape shifting could work with any char so beast would be more powerful runeword

I would love to see an armour runeword granting charge. we all got teleport. would be cool to be able to chose charge as well! imagine charge on a javazon for instance. :D their fcr breakpoints are horrible so would be good if it would be similar stats as enigma, frw, +2skills etc

Hi debrunski, great review, thanks! However, I think it is a terrible idea that you can get both marks. It just seems like extra steps that make NO sense for the gameplay that you keep switching between were-forms just to get bonuses. It should be either one or the other. Or a plain passive while you are transformed. Your hit should apply a mark on the enemy or you get passive bonuses. This switching between forms just to stack is plain stupid gameplay.

New prebuff for my bear sorc, what I always wanted!!!!!

are these marks going to require being in wolf/bear form after activation? if not I can see this helm bm buffing wind druid and bvc for 3 minutes of op 40%hp/20%dr buff. gonna need to wait til ptr to see and test. but if this works in human form after buff.. yikes.

do note that says 25% attack speed and not 25 ias, so its probably eias and has no dm

Seems like a solid addition to the game. Personally I would like to the +5 to shapeshifting skills be a varied roll. This way you could keep rolling it until you got a result you were satisfied with, more casual players could buy the poorly rolled items and it would make Cham even more relevant.

the delay for shifting between forms is way too punishing, doubt anyone will use it that way unless they change how this works

While I would prefer Blizzard to focus on making new uniques/set items or buffing/changing current ones (especially the class sets) because most of them are pretty bad save for a few exceptions; ex: shako. But I'm not opposed to class specific runewords either. Something for Bowazons, a new claw runeword for Trapsins, Maybe an offensive curse option for necros?, Basically anything to help keep melee barbs and paladins alive as well. (I have no idea about sorc, all 3 schools are in a good spot right now lol)

pretty much FORCED to switch between forms makes it even MORE unpleasant to play a shapeshifter druid. what they should have added is finaly somesort of aoe melee option to make melees viable. something really basic would help ALL melee options, like "all attacks hit in a small radius for 20% of the main dmg".

Feels similar to what D4 has in store. I’m just not sure if the animation and speed are smooth enough for the Shift & Hit action. Looks a bit too wonky for my taste. I’d rather get something that allows the wolf to track their foes and the bear to charge in.

Interesting, helmet. It seems a bit too strong, but I would need to test it in PTR. On the other hand, I hope the devs dont think this is going to fix the bearsorc attack speed that they nerfed. BearSorc use dual dream and they already have to carry 3 weapons most of the time, so another item to keep in their inventory to prebuff is getting tedious...

Its cool that it adds a little diversity to the game play of melee druids, but is it worth it? Probably not. Assuming the meta stays the same this will be an end of ladder build or uber only build. It can’t teleport and will always be inferior because of this.

It would be amazing if the Barbarian could get something because around nightmares the attack rating is actually ridiculous.. if I have no luck, some good runewords or drops... Barbarians are just weak as hell.
