For years I wanted one of these. Before it was discontinued I would search high and low for a decent video demo of the D1000 but to no real avail. When it finally was discontinued, I thought I would never truly get to see this machine in action. Thank you for finally making a decent overview of this fantastic little machine.

Big big thanks, I have been looking at the D1000 for a few years and have been so undecided over it because of concise information on it and good video quality. Always been interested in this one. It just looks good for a start, especially in that, lush, flush case ! That Dub part is superb, you should turn it into a real ambient/dub thingy.

Yeah, I want to! I could try an make D1000 only dub ep. I love dub, though I never release the tracks I make in that genre. More a personal pleasure.

Yeah you should ! The D1000 sounds just right for the task. I love dub dearly, in its classic form but when it creeps into other genre as well.

D2000 is overall a better machine (more control over voices, no mains-hum) but people seem to pine over the D1000 still. I think it's because of the switch-controlled sequencer- which I'll admit is pretty cool but it really limits it use to only time signatures that are divisors or multiples of 4/4. (Wanna do 6/8? Hahaha, FUCK NO.)

@HAINBACH - long-time fan and supporter of yours :) I've experimented with a plethora of different trigger modules with my D-1000. Do you notice a bit more "flamming" or "doubling" occurs when using the individual trig inputs vs the sequencer? Overall the sound is different for me when I use the trigs vs the clock.

That means you are inputting to long triggers. Make Noise Maths is what I like to use for precision. You can make it sound better than internal.

Please, explain how donyou get this awesome swing! At 8:01!! What kind of delay ? I want to buy something to enter the modular sound,but i cant afford it! Is there any module od delay or something to get this sound? Thanks in advance!!

That is an Alesis Wedge, but you can do same with a Quadraverb

Hainbach did/do you actually set the trim on the back of the unit to taste? If so how did you find a setting you liked? I presume with your case they are more accessible than with the original case?

What’s beneath the D-1000? I wasn’t aware you could pull it out of its original casing. Is it just a metal casing protecting the circuits below? How did you manage to screw down the D-1000 to its new case without it falling out?

Beneath is not much, basically standoffs for some big condensators. Ross lamond screwed it in.

I got mine on sale when every shop tried to get rid of them. But they are pretty much unobtanium, unless they pop up on reverb. Easy to service though, so they can last.

It sounds like nothing else, is designed like nothing else. It kills on PAs small and big. It's easily the thing people ask me the most after my Liveshows.

Seen this thing on sale a few months ago and instantly thought of you. Why are you using specifically this one? I mean, I get it's rare and have pretty interesting range, but it's extremely limited unless you have a strong external sequencing capabilities. There are a lot of much more capable machines on the market.

First and main reason: sound. It sounds like nothing else and fits with my music beautifully. I love the simplicity, it's a boon for my livesets. And then CV. It sounds so alive with external modulation.

I have a TR606 which is lovely in combo with the D1000. Else, I make drums on the modular.

And the D1000 and the Ciatlonbarde Plumbutter and the TR606 are the only drummachines that interest me. Well, maybe a Linndrum, too.
