Thank you for your informative video. It was a pharmacist that warned me when I filled a prescription for lisinopril, that is could cause a cough. Turned out the cough caused my asthma to increase over the next few months. But when I called the cardiologist’s office to report my increased asthma might be caused by that drug. He had the nurse call and ask me “who told me that?”. This was the first realization that he is an arrogant close minded doctor who sees his patients as stupid sheep. He is no longer my doctor, but I didn’t leave with that incident. There were others, but I was now paying attention. We all have to work to understand everything we can about our illnesses and stop following the sometimes bad advice of those brilliant professionals. The comment section is always helpful in these medical videos. I trust the collective experiences of fellow sufferers more than most published official research today. I no longer believe that the educated are the really the educated. This is true especially with the segregated health approach. Doctors know little about natural remedies and nutrition, and usually look down on other methods of medication. But I’m old so I’ve seen a lot.

This drug has been literal poison to me. 25mg twice a day because iI got diagnosed with sleep apnea. 2 weeks for something that made me worse than i was before. Panic attack, anxiety, and depression I never had before. Uncontrollable crying and gloom and doom to a point of about feeling suicidal. Insomnia and crazy nightmares. I went to the hospital with 196/94 BP pulse at 115 resting when my BP used to be 120/67 and pulse about 60. I weaned off a couple days and completely stopped. Felt on top of the world immediately. It was making my heart race on small tasks and short of breath. I read 100s of reviews and maybe 10 were people that liked it. Other than that 95% were having the same issues I was having and I was glad I wasnt alone. Learn and be very careful starting this drug. Good luck.

@nenadcubric2663 I recently started a Carnivore diet and now my BP runs around 118/65. My pulmonologist says and I can stop my CPAP as my sleep apnea in non existent. But I can't because it's like a pacifier now😂 Also my Oxygen Saturation has improved with my COPD. So I found my cure without meds. I'm so happy. And I'm down over 100 pounds. I was on Bisoprolol for several years, but unfortunately have been having issues with my blood pressure and heart rate being so high. My Doctor switched me to Metoprolol and I will taking that in the morning and evening today. Hopefully, it will help so I don't have to switch back to higher dose of Bisoprolol and risk low numbers with my vitals. I am in good shape with my medical conditions and hoping that this medication will help rather then cause side effects or not work at all. I use beta blockers for palpitations as well.

Insurance stopped paying for my Cardizem, so for my Marfan Syndrome I now take Irbesartan and Metropilol. Today was my first day on it and I am honestly impressed with how well it controlled my bigeminy arrythmia. Obviously, ARB's on their own aren't sufficient to control rhythm so this is why we added that once I was stable on Irbesartan to reduce aortic dilation. I hope this drug continues to work well for me the longer I am on it. :)
@HealthRX
@HealthRX Год назад

@@HealthRX Thank you! I was shocked too lol after about 8 years on it with no problems, they refuse both name brand and generic now. I took the Cardizem twice daily which I guess was not typical but yeah, Cardizem is such a great drug. Anthem BCBS is what I have, ironically they refuse a cheap drug like this yet pay for my Ofatumumab, insurances are wild lol. Metoprolol seems to be less strong than Cardizem but it's just enough to drop the heart rate and keep rhythm in check without tanking BP when you take it on top of another bp meds. Thanks for the response :)

I've had nightmares every night since starting Metoprolol in 2014. Began at 25 MG daily then increased it to 50 MG per day in 2020 at which point my nightly dreams went from vivid and serial in fashion to nightmares in serial fashion (almost nightly episodes of the same weird miniseries). I've also had swollen ankles.
@jasonbowman9521
@jasonbowman9521 9 месяцев назад
@@donmulder8061 The swollen ankles does sound like a concern though I am no Dr. I try to take mine on schedule because for me it is no longer about the "good ol' days" of only an irregular heart beat. In my old age my heart trys to do that afib nonsense which would be even worse. My whole fiasco started at age 17 and being young I was concerned about having to take "heart pills." Even though at that time I was over exaggerating things I think. lol. But now I am certainly more dependent on taking them. But at any rate it's nice typing to you about this. Back at age 17 they mentioned a pace maker but I use to be terrified of such things but I'm more up to it in my old age but they think the pill will do for now.

was on this candy for 6 years. 25mg. I split them in half for 12.5mg. I used to them to lower my blood pressure and heart palpitations. Took this in my early 20s. At first it made me tired but it did wonders for relaxing my heart and suppressed my palpitations. I was 20lbs overweight so I decided to go for runs and weight lifting and eating a balanced calorie meal and I lost 30lbs in 6months. I felt amazing thats for sure. Over the years I slowly gained them back and losing weight on and off. Not sure if it was my age and my metabolism changed and weight gain was a problem. I gained 20lbs and lost 20lbs in my early 30s. I decided to stop taking toprol. I quit slowly but eventually after a two week halt, i felt like my body was release from captivity and i felt even more better. Here is a tip, stop blaming toprol. Its justified, however, that if you are taking 50mg or more, then yes the side effects will be there but its due to your body reacting to foreign chemicals in your body and are trying to get instructions from chemicals that should not be there but overtime it gets used to it. Then when you get off of it, your body stops receiving these instructions and your body has to learn how to get back to normal. During that phase, you get side effects. My case was 12.5mg. Please see your dr before stopping. I stopped mine and my dr said it was safe to quit because I was only taking 12.5mg. A very low dose .My advise is lose weight, portion control what you eat. I worked in medical field and I will say most people who receive toprol are overweight. To those who are not overweight, they are prescribed for people with anxiety or palpitations.

Metoprolol blocks the natural secretion of melatonin. It disrupts sleep patterns, blocking the ability to go into REM sleep, which is highly important for brain health. How can the doctors say this is a great drug? Why do you act as if lack of sleep is okay? Until I was put on metoprolol, I never had a problem getting enough sleep. Now I can't stay asleep more than 2 hours! I'm in a living nightmare! I'm working on starting a business, but can't wake up enough to focus on what needs to be done. :( What other medication does what Metoprolol needs to do to help without disrupting sleep (and causing inflammation?) I also have a chronic inflammatory disorder (sarcoidosis) and this is making it worse.

Sorry, to hear what you are going through. Yes, unfortunately dizziness is one of the documented side effects of Metoprolol occurring in about 2% or so. I have 2 suggestions for you. One is to obviously discuss with your doctor. There are so many other choices, including other meds in the same class, that you don’t have to suffer on this one. The second suggestion is to check your blood pressure. It is possible that it may be too low and this can lead to dizziness as well. Wish you all the best.

One side effect of beta blockers which is often neglected and apparently not considered relevant is weight gain. I'm on metoprolol since I had a heart attack 6 months ago. I have put on 12 kg of abdominal fat which is 2 kg per month. There's no end in sight. I cannot allow to become obese since that might be an even higher risk factor than a few extra systoles a day. I hoped to halt the weight gain with diets and increased workouts but no chance. I will ask for a substitute.
@HealthRX
@HealthRX 5 месяцев назад
You are absolutely right. Unfortunately because of the history of heart attack, beta blockers are recommended to prevent reoccurrence. Some of the newer generation beta blockers like Carvedilol tend to be more weight neutral, so that is one you can discuss with your doctor. All the best.
