Metroid Dread Cheat: Kraid Quick Kill (Sequence Break) 

Jumping higher while being in morph ball mode is really easy on Dread. Really, really easy to jump and place bombs to toss you up higher.

@@venar4248 in fusion there was that message if u just shinespark through a zone that needed ice missiles And i think i remember seing that in zero mission some cutscenes showed the varia suit if u got it early but that i dont remember They know people can figure stuff and the reward us for that

The boss is an unfair piece of shit anyway. If there were actual cheats i would have already used them on him, and just on him.

I found out you can keep pressing B during the slide. It doesn't have to be one frame perfect input! It's a lot more forgiving than it initially seems.

@@faranhjar it’s super easy. Spam missiles for 30 seconds while laughing. But it’s not remotely an insta kill. You also need to keep in mind having enough energy to survive being inside his belly while you bomb him. 2 tanks or so. Something to keep in mind for speed running.

Now I realized Samus take damage in the stomach.

going into this video i thought it was a cheat but there's cut scenes specifically for this method of killing him so it appears to be a secret alternative way.

Well yes and know. It's definitely not the intended way you're supposed to do this fight BUT it is the Dev's way of giving a nod to sequence breakers, which is something they've actively encouraged.

@@jamesramos5442 it’s clearly an intended way. Or the morph ball canon wouldn’t be there. It’s not a sequence break. It’s just an alternate way. Sequence breaking would be an actual non intended way to progress a game. Like with Super Metroid machball under security doors, etc. Still… like I said… it’s not a “cheat.” Anyone who understands this type of game will realize that backtracking before progressing is the way a lot of people play these. They’re just giving those players a nod… not to mention giving people alternate ways to approach boss fights etc which makes the game less “stale” for more playthroughs.

Something I really love about the grapple beam break there, even if you don't use it to get the quick kill here, is that once you go into the water area, there's a Huge amount of underwater time wasted going up and down, that you can skip entirely with having the grapple early. They've planned around a lot of possibilities. For example, I was trying to get sub 4 and messed up some of the sequence breaks, and got the gravity suit without getting space jump. There's a section in the frozen area near the first emmi that it seems you Have to have the space jump to get up to (there's a missile tank that leads you through the normal route. But without it, I found they left the door to the first emmi encounter open, which gives you just enough to run, get a speed booster, convert it to shine spark, and can use that instead to get up there. I was astounded at the level of planning involved there.

@@Blexmer1 Indeed! And I know exactly what you mean about the Grapple beam now too. I am about halfway thru my 2nd playthru now, aka am doing Hard Mode now & am also doing as many sequence breaks as I can. In the 1st game I only did the ones that I came across naturally, which was actually quite a few in fact. I do like how there are big ones and then there are smaller ones, and you can do any combination of those pretty much. But anyway, what I was getting at is that I am doing all the Sequence breaks I can now and I happened to do the grapple beam early and man, you really do learn to appreciate not just the time saves but how dang convenient of a power up it is! The ability to be able to magnetize yourself up to any magnetic surface is so damn handy, specially in water! It makes getting thru several areas much faster, not to mention getting it early allows you to save time, get items & access paths you otherwise would not be able to. It also makes getting the bombs much easier as well. It's just a great all around ability to grab early on. The trick to get it early really isn't that hard to pull off either. One little trick I also figured out by getting the flash shift a bit early is that if u do it just right, you can actually use the flash shift to cheeze that first fan you come across in Burenia guarding that E Tank expansion. You know, the one you'd normally need the Speed Booster for. If you do a double flash shift in exactly the right way you can gain JUUUUUST enough distance to barely clip that E tank with your foot. It took me probably 20 tries or so to get it but I eventually did, and it was quite satisfying when I finally got it.

@@skins4thewin oh, speaking of something I found with flash shift. You can grab space jump and get back out without having to go through the water if you time it right. Get the door open, flash shift once on top of the power up and grab it, then quickly flash shift twice and you can get through the door just barely before it locks. Was funny to realize there was enough of a window.

@@Blexmer1 Ha, very nice. Will have to remember that one & give it a shot when I get to that point. Flash shift tho, man what a fantastic new ability! Might be my favorite ability in the game in fact. It's usefulness is just off the charts! And thinking how they had to design the game around these new abilities, Samus is practically a lightning bolt now. She's literally never controlled so well before. What a game they have produced here. They really have perfected the 2D Metroid formula with this one.

You can insta kill him with a shinespark

It's actually much slower to take all that time to get the bombs out of order than it would be to just fight Kraid, as you still need to go through the bombs area after defeating him

I’m not that good either but it did take me like 20 tries to finally get it. It’s possible for anyone.

I just did it today for the first time. The first jump isn’t that bad but I got lucky and damage boosted for the second after about 10 tries. Sure killing him normally is faster but I just wanted to see if I could do it.
