Which is why I love it so much. It really captures the danger, coldness, and lonliness of space. But also the adventure. I really want Kenji Yamamoto (the man that is the composer of various titles throughout the Metroid series) to return for Prime 4, and give us once more a masterpiece of an OST.
Despite this song being entirely synthetic, it’s beautiful, eerie, emotionally deep and reminds me of the all the fun memories I had playing this game as a kid, I have since branched out and learned to play this song on a Thermion, it’s both extremely difficult and an eye opener.
I first heard this song in the Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and had no idea what it was. I just thought it sounded cool. But now that I've actually learned more about the masterpiece that is the Metroid series, I'm glad I know exactly what this is and ashamed that I didn't know what it was before.
Hoenn Founder Dude, pretty much everything that is Nintendo I learnt through Smash Bros Brawl. I didn't even realise Samus and Ridley hated each other's guts.
I recently bought this game at my local retro game store for $40. Once I put the disc into my Gamecube and heard this theme I knew I was in for something special
@nicholascooney he did, but through him saying "480p mode" he is implying that the game has another "mode" which it doesn't. It has no 720p, 360p, or anything of the like.
@@jage6344 pretty sure he means using the digital out cables rather than the analog ones. The digital ones output in 480p, while the analog ones output in 480i.
I'll never forget the day I picked up Prime on release day after anticipating a Metroid sequel for so many years. This theme sent shivers up my theme and still does to this day.
This game is SUPER special to me. I remember playing it back when I was about 6-7. My mom didn't like me playing it though, cuz you know, the shooting and stuff. Not long after, around age 8, I lost the gamecube, along with the game. I didn't even remember it's name, so I spent about 4-5 years trying to remember it's name. The only thing I remember was that beautiful intro where samus jumps out of her gunship. Finally, I miraculously found it again when I was 13 (about 3 years ago) and it all came back to me. Im surprised the thing still works after all the bangin around it's gotten all these years.
Hands down the best song in the entire franchise. Maybe the intro/menu of Prime 2 gets close? Sure, but damn... Prime 1 is on a different level, Look at this outro, 1:38 it's godlike!
Am I the only one who thinks instead of this being the main menu theme that this theme should haven been the theme that represents samus? I mean I could definitely see this as her theme. And how it can represents her. Showing how she is a badass yet careful character to the people she meets and cares about around her adventures in space. And even though she's alone in space fighting the impossible, she will always stay brave, to face it all. No matter how difficult things get she fights to the verry end, to over come whatever threat, that comes next on her path.
@@DarkenMidnacrystal they didn't, Nintendo owned 49% iirc. They did not own Rare, but they do own HAL. There's no such thing as a second party company by the way. HAL is first party as they are owned by Nintendo, and that's it really.
@@conorneligan7694 "Second-party" developer is an expression used by pros in the field. It's independent companies tied to work only for a publisher by contract (I guess).
@@ikarugaxx3749 Second-party is not used professionally, they're contracted for a game/series, just typically if you fall into a good relationship you'll work together for awhile.
This theme gives me a nostalgic feeling every i hear it although I never played the game my own, but i was used to watch my dad playing it when i was little. I am really looking forward to the Prime 1 Remaster❤️
Jestin me too even some of my closest friends have become loyal to Microsoft so much so that I can’t even talk about Nintendo to then without getting “oh that 720p 30 FPS pile of junk”
OMEGA WARIO yea it’s stupid dispite video games wouldn’t be inspired if it weren’t Nintendo, and they are responsible for many master pieces, especially Metroid which has to be one of the greatest video game franchises EVER
I was godawful at the game, but I would just sit on the menu screen and let this loop for hours on end. Such a good track, even if it cut off a lot of it.
My first prime was 3, didn’t experience 1 and 2 until the trilogy was released on the Wii. For a while i never heard this track until Brawl, but never knew where it originated from. Rebought Primes 1 and 2 on the GC and never looked back. This track has been a top 3 favorite of mine since.
imo metroid has THE MOST untouched potential of all of nintendos IPs.. the story of the chozo.. samus childhood and upbringing by them.. why ridleyleads the space pirates as a different species... samus days in the federation... dear god.. the games that are possible
I imagine Samus becoming fully unlocked in her super powers as she slowly rises within an erupting pillar of light as the Chozo spirits infinitely throng in her infinite awakening. It brings me to tears like it's really epic in it's scope!!!!!!!
I remember being so upset with my dad for not getting me Zero Mission (it sold like hotcakes at the gamestop and other stores)… I was hot off the heels of beating Fusion for the first time and wanting more metroid. My dad said for my birthday one year he may go get me something- I remember seeing/hearing that ZM and MP were releasing around the same time, and he left one day for work, returning later than normal. When he showed me Prime, I remember throwing a hissy fit, but damnit I was still curious, Samus standing in her full glory in her original suit? Is this a prequel to Fusion? Are all the metroid entries their own games? My mind raced… then at the beginning of the night, I hooked up my gamecube, turned it on, put in Prime, and while I sat in awe, my dad and my younger brother watched as I beat the Frigate Orpheon section, before pausing and going to sleep. My dad asked me later “do you like it now?” And I apologized with a tear and a smile, “It’s awesome, dad.” Now whenever I look back on this song, just the first ten seconds makes me think “What an ungrateful kid I was.” And then this hits me like a truck. 00:10
I have never played metroid prime. I have completed all halos on legendary. Halo CE is my favorite game of all time. I have to say tho that this theme is soooo much fkn better than halo's main theme and that's saying a whole lot.
DOOM, halo ,wolfenstein, subnautica and Dead space are my favorite franchies .and I think with just listening to this soundtrack metroid is wining a place in my favorites yeah I m buying one copy
I should’ve cherished these good old days before they were gone I remember I was 4 and I was still trynna beat the last boss at like 11:00 PM and I beat it after an hour of strategizing its worth it if I can hear this banger
@@lance1506 I made this comment at the time when Nintendo were taking down multiple old extensions of music from their games. This one was luckily not hit
This game used to scare the soul out of me back in the day when my older brothers played but it was totally worth it. Because one thing they taught me is don't be a shitter at video games because in the future that's all they can look forward too in they're fake relationships with other's
