Yeah, cutscenes are definitely skippable by pressing start twice at least after the first viewing. I haven't tried on the first viewing.

Got the Legacy Edition arriving in the mail in a few days.

GameXplain knows they can't even mention AM2R, let alone say it is better, without incurring the wrath of Nintendo's lawyers. So unfortunately we can't really take this statement at face value. I really hope Samus Returns is fun and that it succeeds, but based on what I've seen so far, AM2R looks better.

In a Q&A he explicitly stated that he thought it was better than AM2R... In this review he needed to be a bit more subtle with his wording but that is his opinion...

Yes Sir Fusion is Like Metroid 2 minus the plot rooms, you just have the lava automatically lowering when you kill metroids for some reason, also I have no clue how I as a kid was able to explore that game without a map.

I sure hope these reviews will be enough to get people to buy the game so much it sells like 2 million units!

is it actually? I love pikmin and honestly thought the 2D platformer stye was a good little spinoff idea, but most of the reviews I've read have made me apprehensive

@ nicholas, Its a GOOD game that I as a hard fan of what Pikmin is and means at heart cannot overly recommend to others that care about what the games are and are core abouts. It's also rather fun. ^-< It might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you understand what "Ai no Uta" Pikmin Song is about or care about Pikmin 1 as a game, You'll likely enjoy it for what it is.

I am a metroid fan who likes AM2R I will also be buying this game because I like metroid, only games I never got were other m and federation force.

I'm actually baffled by the behavior of the Metroid fan base. With Federation Force, I was just laughing at how childish they were but now it's so ridiculous I can only shake my head. When Samus Returns was announced, I thought to myself: "thank goodness they also teased Prime 4 because otherwise the Metroid fanboys would complain, to no end, about how Nintendo gave them nothing but a remake of the worst Metroid game"... Well, turns out they STILL found something to cry about. What's most ridiculous is how they say AM2R is the perfect remake and something Nintendo is incapable of making themselves when it's literally not much more than a mod of a remake Nintendo *did* make 14 years ago.

Honestly, I can't really blame anyone for the stink raised about Federation Force. It was a very non-Metroid-y game, despite having the series name in the title. And considering the last Metroid game was Other M (a decent game in its own right but definitely a pretty bad Metroid game), it's understandable why people were so disappointed by getting a nonstandard spinoff instead of a "real" Metroid game. The stink over Nintendo's cease&desist of AM2R, on the other hand, was never anything but entitled whining. "How dare Nintendo not let us have something we want just because it was illegal?!" Fortunately, when OM2R (Official Metroid 2 Remake) was announced at E3, most of them shut up about it. It turned out Nintendo had a really good reason to put a halt to AM2R; they were deep in development of OM2R at the time, and they didn't want it to have to compete with an unauthorized clone of itself. And since the whole reason for excitement over AM2R was that Nintendo hadn't made their own remake, knowing that OM2R was on its way rendered AM2R completely moot. But there are still a few diehards who refuse to accept that AM2R is over. They cling to their grudge over the C&D letter, completely ignoring how OM2R is everything they wanted in the first place. It's really quite pathetic how they're acting like being given exactly what they had actually wanted is a slap to the face.

I think it comes down to perspective. Like you said, Samus Retruns brings alot of evolution to the table, now concepts as well as being the first 2.5D Metroid, where AM2R is familar teritory but very well polished and has a certain love put into it that only fans can bring. SR brings something new and refreshing, where AM2R brings familiarity. similar to something like Sonic Mania.

The Fourth Edge Zero mission was awful.

I'm confident it will be better than ZM. That game is great but too short and too easy. And the zero suit section is not great.

matias20081 personally Zero Mission is my favorite. While yes the Zero suit part is a little meh it's worth it for the amazing power trip imho.

AM2R is honestly as good as this for different reasons. I'd suggest playing it also.

Other M isn't that bad! Sure the story is a trainwreck(and I don't even want to think about Samus being scared of Ridley after having fought him at least 2 times by that point), but the gameplay is fast, fluid, and fun.

AstralMuffin105 the gameplay in Other M was good, but terrible for Metroid. There was limited environment, a dull soundtrack, droning monotonous dialogue, an emphasis on cinematically, no item collecting, and worst of all: almost no exploration.

Nope, "Other M" is a game in the Franchise, if not part of the "Prime" Metroid Universe. ^-< (note this is a pun on "multiverse theory," for the idea of a 'prime' true/main that others bud off of, along with "Prime" to denote the MP vs "Other" storylines of a sort as with LoZ games) *Each are still "Canon" just not by requirement to the same 'Prime-ary' universe,* with the Prime games including the events of the Original Games & Franchise as a whole as they come to be included while the "Other" story line is quite simply & literally whatever _'Other'_ quasi canon stuffs that is largely to say the Comics and the like as per a more Cinematic presentation version. *_Other M happened, simply that mistakes were made to include not clearly stating it was meant to be 'the movie that never came to be' we were promised but kept getting delayed._* If you are a genuine Metroid fan or follower of the games you in turn agree that Other M at the least "Happened" both that it WAS made, and per it's extended 'canon' that is perhaps not in the "Prime."

Speaking of supporting the series... This game makes me feel bad in the same way the newer IPs do. Basically, I want to salute their attempt/effort at making something new/bringing something back, buuuuut, I can't speak with my wallet because the games aren't the kind of things I'm into, you know what I'm saying? x)

holy shit u must have been a really bad player if u died a lot in prime 1 that game is by far the easiest in the prime trilogy

*when you only have been playing it for less than a month, haven't beaten it yet and hadn't been playing games for almost 2 decades, it makes a difference. ^-< Even so learning from each death how to beat each boss w/o any deaths was great fun.

Basically a better version of Other M, and I think we all would've liked that. Seriously, Metroid 5 should either play in that Warframe style, or Bloodborne style.

Much better for a portable game, it's why Fusion was linear and ZM had Chozo Hint Statues.

But I love the fusion suit design...
