Wilmer Flores, Sandy Alderson, and other New York Mets players discuss the events of July 29th, 2015, when the Carlos Gomez trade almost went down on a remarkable night at Citi Field.
Something that gets lost in the recaps of this is how this changed the perception of the Mets among the fans and probably the team that year. Mets fans suffer from horribly low baseball self-esteem so to see a guy crying because he was being traded from the Mets really meant something to us. I think most of us assumed that players would be elated to get out of there. I am so glad that they did not trade him to get Gomez and ended up getting Cespedes instead. The last couple of months of the 2015 season were some of my favorite ever.
