New York Mets manager Terry Collins discusses the difficulty of managing the team Wednesday night amid the Wilmer Flores trade rumors and getting his team ready for the next game.
Why? To who ? For what ? We-God-a-game-da-play Why-wood-eye-taig-eem-oyout? Toadallee! It's all pard uh the game Whud iz iss four ? We God a geem ta play tam-marr
At 2:20, Collins showed me why he is the most under-rated manager the Mets ever had. Defending Flores with "These guys are not robots" rallies the full team IMO to TC's side. 2 months later, when they clinch the division, watch the guy's hug TC and IMHO 2:20 TC's reaction played a role. He had their back, and they had his.
Thank God this trade was KO'd.....Gomez has been an ABSOLUTE BUST the last 2 years.....Sandy Alderson must have been on something to even want him on the team, let alone give up a valuable resereve like Flores and a #1 blue-chipper like Wheeler (albeit recovering from surgery).
Always loved that Wheeler, while being out with injury that season, went to Sandy & asked not to be traded & wanted to remain a Met. Last (foolish) parting gift from the Wilpons (& BVW) was letting him walk even though he wanted to stay. They didn't even make him an offer though he went back to the Mets after he got his offer from Philly. Can you imagine if he was still in our rotation now with deGrom & Scherzer?
I think my original comment was just quoting the manager lol. It's funny how he keeps saying "what's going on ?" I can't see it on google plus though so I'm not sure what this comment is referring to
Collins may come off as harsh by saying Wilmer had to play even though he was upset, but looking back with 20/20 hindsight, IMO keeping Wilmer in the game was a great decision. It made Wilmer very popular with the fans, and also makes him a tougher player. For example, even though though Reyes joined the team recently, Wilmer has risen to the occasion and is hitting better than ever.
