Been using Metzeler for over 20 years. ZX12R and for this it has been the only tire that gives a good steering and confidence with predictability. Now with silica tire the bar has been raised again. ZX14 and 200/55 (stock 190/50) M9RR seems to give all you want. Taller tire for better steering and grip with lean angles that makes this big bike feel like a liter bike.
This is hands down one of the best tyre reviews i've ever seen! left no questions unanswered. I'm looking at new tyres for my 2019 Speed twin. UK weather being unpredictable at the best of times, the OE Diablo Rosso 3's dont like the cold or the wet. Been looking at the M9RRs and there are currently some good deals about. im also looking at the Diablo rosso 4's and the S22's.
You did the review of the S22 as I remember. I went with the M9RR last week for my R1 and found it firm and grippy. Coming off my S21, I was very content with it. I had the S20 recently which I found was too squirmy
The S21 are not as good as the S22 so it's a big jump to the M9RR. I was very happy with the performance of the M9RR but disappointed that the performance dropped away after 3k km.
@@johnsy59 - I''ll keep an eye on it. The average temperatures in the UK are about 10°C lower than in Thailand, so that may have an effect on it. Interestingly enough, I felt bridgestone's S series tyres felt softer compared the M9RR, so I suppose it's the difference in carcass.
Old vid for commenting, but I just compared this with your S22 review. I've had M9RR previously, and I'm going to try the S22 next based (in part) on your comment about the harder rear center compound. I have to ride a full day of US interstates to find mountain twisties. Maybe I'll get some longer life? Hopefully the rain won't be problematic.
Or you could try the Pirelli Angel GTII. They are excellent in the wet, have a long life up to 10k km, dual compound and great in all conditions. I just did a review on them.
If the S22 really is harder then for me the M( is going to wear out in mere hundreds of miles. I wore out my OEM S22 on my brand new MT-10 super fast and THAT was during break in on the bike! By 600 mile oil change I was already to the wear bars on rear....I tried very hard to push tire to 1000 miles but it was not possible to do and maintain any conscience/se;f respect! Bu 900 miles they were edge to edge BALD and the carcase with tire off was so thing wobbly flobbly the only evidence of it ever having any tread were some shadows of shallow grooves more toward the outsde....agai this was BREAK IN! Now I LOVED the tires I really did and was immediately leaning edge to edge....ALL my miles btw save the 100 mile commute home from dealership were in the mountains by my home meaning 90% thard core twisties ....ZERO burnouts or any such foolishness I am an old man not a hooigan I think the M9RRs are cheaper at the moment so if they can last even 3/4ths as long as S22s then they may still be worth it....btw I got I think 1300miles on the S22 front...which was only bald on the sides not the middle....but the sides were PATHETIC
I live in Singapore , similar weather conditions with Thailand , constant rain and I'm constantly on the road .. which tyre would you say is best for both dry and wet weather conditions ?
I think the M9RR. I'm currently trying the Pirelli Rosso IV Corsa, and I'm very impressed, but it's dry season here, so I can't say how they are in the wet.
@@shoetechreview I'm not sponsored, I have to pay full retail price for my tyres. And to be honest I don't particularly like Pirelli tyres. So it's unlikely I will do a review on the Rosso IV.
Lean angle 9/10? Nah fam i have these tires on my 07 and they're nothing like the rosso corsa 2's i had before them. Yes they lasted about 1000 km less but grip was 10x times better and it also was a lot better in the wet Which btw the m9's on the wet are terrible
