DOOM (then going by Zev Love X) was in a group called KMD with his brother DJ Subroc. Subroc died and KMD got dropped from their label right after. DOOM dealt with depression and by some accounts, homelessness for the next few years before re-emerges at NYC area open mics wearing a mask and performing as MFDOOM. Probably the greatest transformation and second act in hip-hop.
He moved to Atlanta and was working for Cartoon Network. He created a lot of the music they played right before commercials. He even made a compilation album with a lot of the music he made for the network
It's not just what he talks about, but also the patterns. For example: "One man's waste is another man's soap rhymes perfectly with son's fan base know the brother man is dope". Most people don't even want to get into what he is actually talking about, since it's a lot of "conspiracy" stuff that gets brushed off. "Later for the date than the hadron collidier" ;)
Man this that banger!!! Much appreciated Fam!! One of my favorite tracks.... I won't go into the other tracks, I think I did already lol..... Maybe Fine Print or Fazers... Peace
Originally he was in a group KMD with his brother Subroc, and the Onyx Kid. At the time his name was Zev Love X. Subroc died after he got hit by a car.
He and his brother were in a group called KMD. His name was seb luv x. You can see him unmasked in 3rd Bass' video for "Gas Face". His brother was killed in a hit and run and that started his transition to mf doom. Check out "peach fuzz" by kmd.
Idk if this is too much for a suggestion or not, but can you do the whole madvillainy album? It's a whole other experience listening to doom albums all the through
@@twodudesfrommaine I'd say its better if you guys listen to the whole thing front to back in 1 sitting (there are interludes and instrumentals which wouldn't be great if you're doing 1 song a day), but it's up to you if you wanna chop it up and upload it bit by bit
Great reaction! You guys should react to some of his more lesser known stuff next. Like DOOMSTARKS (DOOM and Ghostface Killah)- Victory Laps (Madvillainz remix), Madvillian- Papermill, and DangerDOOM- Mad Nice ft. Black Thought
I agree, love MF DOOM, When speaking of other worldly artists though, you missed Tech N9ne, and if you've been sleeping on Tech you will have found another artist to binge...I'd suggest maybe "Making A Killing" or "Like I Ain't" or "The Herder"
When I first heard mf DOOM I didn't get it until I went back and heard this album. Then I went to the albums before this and be came a fan. His style is an acquired taste. Requesting KRS ONE "wannabemcs"
