The easy way to place the metal runners for the seats is to screw a bolt from underneath and use this as a guide. You only need one bold for each seat rail. Indeed that is all you can do as one of the bolt holes are covered by a cross brace. But using this bold screwed from underneath much centers the rails and makes the job infinitely easier.

Hi George Thats a great tip, thank you. Sounds like youve been around these cars for a long time.

I’m pretty sure that this is a ‘73 B as it is the only year the steering wheel had open spokes. They dropped that idea as they were told that in an emergency a person could have their fingers caught in the open slits!

Wow. I can't believe how fast you are pulling this together. Congratulations on getting that engine to run so smooth. The carpets look fantastic now that they are in along with the seats that have polished up really nicely. Pity about the body though. But as you say, it would be quite a bit of work to do a respray, which is what it requires, but perhaps the new owner can afford to get that done down the road. I'm looking forward to seeing how it drives.

It is coming together pretty quick, which is a good thing, as boredom starts to set in after a while and I find myself scouring the internet for my next project. Workshop space is so expensive here on the Essex borders, otherwise I'd love to have my own little workshop and a place to spray as well. You may have seen on my channel, the last car I restored was a BMW 325 sport. I actually sprayed that in my sons home garage. I don't know how I got away with that without the neighbours complaining

johnny, well done mate, youre doing a cracking job mate.Im an MG Roadster fanatic myself although ive not done a restoration yet. I owned a1967 B in 1974. and had two lovely years in her, but not a day has gone by when i regret selling her.

These little MG's are such a pleasure to work on. I love the fact that you can buy literally every little part brand new and not expensive either. I recently did a 25 mile journey with it from my brothers garage to my sons where it is being kept at the moment. It was noisy, bumpy and weird to drive compared to modern cars but what a joy at the same time. This is my second MG and somehow dont think it will be my last. Johnny

Another excellent explainer, Mate. Super well done on the work itself, as well as the video editing. Really impressed with the cleaning and polishing of the ashtray and gearstick surround. I think your approach with fitting the seats is about right. I came a right cropper with driver's side, as the front right captive nut under the floor came loose and I end up having to cut a section out of the new floor to get it out. A bit of fab work will be required.

Neil, I was foaming at the mouth by the time I got that last seat in. Its such a terrible design. I tried to up my game on the video of this one 😄 Thanks for watching

@@treetopspider My pleasure. Great that you had access to your brother's workshop. Sorry to hear you're going to sell her. Would imagine you'd get more if fully resprayed as that seems to be where the value is with Bs given the relatively simple mechanics.

Thanks Neil I'd love to keep this lovely little thing but dont have anywhere to store it. Besides that, I quite enjoy the tinkering and bringing back to life. I havent even advertised this one and I'm scouring the internet for my next project. The thrill is in the chase 😄

A great job on the interior it's looking really smart but I think head rests would finish it off. The engine does sound much better and running sweet. a shame you are selling it they are a great weekend run around. all the best for the future.

Hi Rob, The good thing about this is that the headrests can easily be added in later. It was obviously intended to have them as the holes are there, unlike some earlier models before headrests were a thing. In an ideal world, where I would be living in a house with a large barn, I would have a collection of all the different cars Ive restored over the years. Unfortunately, that's not the case. My aim is to get everything apart from the bodywork spot on so that all the next owner has to do is have it resprayed to make this a perfect car.

@@sundogstudio1 Thank you for that, I had to look it up for my own interest. As far as I can see, the 'B' doesnt actually stand for anything other than model B
