WE'RE BACK! It has been a minute since we featured the MGB on RDR, and now that we are neck deep in rust repairs, we can show you guys how we replaced the rusted lower rear section of the front fender. These fenders are made in 3 sections, so we replaced the entire rear section with a panel we got from ‪@MossMotorsCom‬. The panel was a perfect fit, just like the factory panel. We show you special tools and techniques we used as well.
Brock even got his hands dirty taking the fender apart, enjoy his confusion about pretty much everything along the way!

Beautiful job dude! Loved that you saved the original fender! Its sad lots of bodyshops today do lousy work with lackluster preparation causing rust to return. I appreciate all the great information. Keep up the great work and God bless!!!

Thanks! It is all about recycling. Today, the insurance companies dont let body shop do much curting and welding, its all bolt-on repairs. It depends on the car and the damage, but yeah, it is wasteful and will become a lost art before long.

RE the headlight. Remove the trim ring by popping it off using your tool on the bottom of the ring. Next, remove the rim holding the bulb in, and the bulb. Then you will see how to disconnect the spring. That inner assembly is held in by the spring, and otherwise "floats" on the headlight bowl, so that the bulb can be adjusted.

Great video. Welding is difficult to master

Thanks! It certainly is, especially on thin sheet metal

They only use pozidriv screws on MGBs, no phillips. Save those stainless trim pieces, replacements are junk. You can sell the used ones.

We are saving them, they were straight-ish, but one side was dinged pretty bad. And yes, we realized the pozidriv thing on the interior, didn't realize it was a "everywhere" thing, lol.

I have done a few MGB and Midget restorations over the years , the last MG I worked on was a MGB V8 conversion the guy turned up at a mates garage while he was on holiday , the paint was all cracking on his bonnet he said is there any way we could do the bonnet by the end of the week think it was a monday this was in the early 2000's as well we sorted out a price when I started sanding the paint I hit filler and kept on sinking into the filler so I got the grinder out whoever had done the V8 conversion had put a UK mk1 Ford Capri bonnet bulge so obviously not happy with the shape kept adding filler about 3 plus inchs deep in places I could not replace that amount of filler and the guy had not left a number so I decided to grind all the fiiller off and give it a skim coat , the painter said the colour was not a standard MG colour and struggled to match it but we were out of time , the guy came in and went ballistic with me saying I had ruined his car the decided that I quoted him a ridiculously cheap price and now trying to rip him off with a over inflated estimate , I thought the price was reasonable he tried to knock a third off , I told him to come back on monday which he did and created such a stink my mate told me to walk away which I did , he arranged for the car to come back have the paintwork corrected but not the filler work , we were all nervous on the day but he never showed up I guess he wasn't bothered about it after all , getting a freebee repair , If I saw the car again I don't no what I would do LOL . I had worked for a place in Sunderland twice second time I restored an E-Type Jag , they rang me to have a look at a MGB GT convertible the owner had restored himself he had not braced the body and it had sagged , they wanted me to cut the A posts jack the car up and weld the slot up I just laughed said no chance and walked away , not putting my name to that thing .

When I was 45 my left foot started to swell up at the Docs I was sent to hospital for tests end result was my immune system was attacking my kidneys , I ended up on immune-suppressants for 19 years until they finally gave up 5 years ago I'm on dialysis now 3 times a week they are talking about putting me back on the transplant list , I was taken off for a heart problem that had been sorted now , I was told the likely cause was breathing in toxic fumes in the workplace , so always wear a mask even a dust mask helps .

I did a Colt Sigma 1980's that was brand new it had been hit in the side very heavily the roof was kinked it had 11 coats of factory paint I think the car should never have been repaired as it was a naughty crash .
