Hi-def doesn't leave enough to the imagination. Appreciate the art. It is music...which you are listening to on RU-vid. If you really cared you wouldn't ask how it looked. You would ask how to hear it in lossless.
True story. Saw them live in Leeds England (Yorkshire). Me and my mate started the Yorkshire chant 'york-shire! YORK-SHIRE!'. everyone in the small venue we're shouting it in unison it was awesome. Later outside we we're having a smoke and the lead singer asked for a smoke. We couldn't believe it. 'awesome gig man. You killed', as he lights his smoke. 'ah, I'm not sure about that.' I looked at my mate in disbelief. 'nah man, it was great mate!'. 'then why was everyone shouting your shit! Your shit!' we couldn't believe it. 'nah mate. Everyone was chanting york'shire. You're in Yorkshire mate. It was literally us that started it man'. The first smile spring to his face. 'no way man! We honestly thought the you Brits had intentially gone out of your way to buy tickets travel here to tell us we're shit to our face'. Brilliant.
@@OSS976 I understand your perspective but there is a different sound from a studio session to live. I highly doubt if you’ve seen them live this is what they sound like. But troll away my good man.
This is literally them playing live. If they don't sound like this on other live versions, it's the fault of the person on the mixing board, or the venue sucks. But as you can see here, they can play.
This is the cleanest version of this song on youtube. I can’t listen to the others too loud without mass distortion in my LLBean (cleanest stock speakers I ever owned)
i know, right? i’ve seen one performance where he had like five of six stacked and surrounding him. he wasn’t playing all of them at once of course, but he played three of four per song
Jon Pritchard that's because its ALL about the poser singer!! Guitarist is awesome in this song. I don't even know who this star guitarist is ! Nobody ever notices??
I'm still amazed how they managed to create something that is this catchy and easy listening even though it's in 6/4. Can't wait to hear their new album! Still one of my all-time favorite musical duos. Their talent for writing catchy and pleasant songs, that are still complex enough to never get boring, is at the same level as The Beatles.
@@pronounshismajesty3542 Maybe not what you listen to, but most of the music made is still made using instruments. The most popular music is a tiny percentage of the actual music made, and is 99% of the cases it is of inferior quality to subgenres and touring arists (you know, with instruments).
@@ef4947 What is an actual instrument though? Where do you draw the line? are synthesizers considered real instruments as long as they're analogue and not digital? I know it's been a year but please let me know, i have no life and need the conversation
As someone who has played guitar/bass and other instruments since the early 90s, I'm insanely jealous of the amount of creative talent they have pouring out of them. Especially at the young age they're at.
They are so talented. This is for me what makes a group of musicians true artists.. giving a new energy, a new vibe when you hear their music, it hypnotises me in a way no other genre does. Thank you so much MGMT.
Scauldy Brown they purposely sold out with the singles from their first album so they could gain from that and then be able to do whatever they wanted after
Sand Eraser I thought they did that on accident with their first successful singles. I think it’s better to have a great underground following spiked up and then sell out. Because I think underground fans would be more loyal and value the artist’s creativity more.
The songs from Oracular Spectacular were majorly parodic of, and ironically deeply successful in, the mainstream. They've spent the subsequent 3 LPs doing exactly what they want. Think it's perhaps a little more complicated than 'they sold out' or 'they never sold out'. Doesn't change how good it all sounds though!
Not even a million views.. People are missing out! I love everything about this performance! The little jam before the song start to the guitar solo!! Its really nice! Good vibes :)
I've heard about them for years, but this is the first time I've heard a song from them. I'm already kicking myself in the ass! This is fantastic! Its funky and I love it.
I remember an absolute killer summer, hanging at the beach or in the countryside, getting hammered listening to MGMT with my mates. What a shiny happy year that was.
Seems like the bass player doesn't get enough credit for his contribution to mgmts sound. Keyboard probably takes the biggest chunk, seems like the bass isnt far behind.
I think what I love most is these dudes wrote their first album (and all those hits) as A JOKE. They were making fun of bands like this. And yet fucked around and made some of the best music of the 2010's.
I hope I get that chance... I’m only just now getting super into them. Used to just know their hits and loved them but I was like 6 so I didn’t really look into music. I’ve quickly fallen in love with their music tho so hopefully after we don’t need to quarantine anymore I’ll get to see them if they tour again at some point
There are no needs to have mixed feelings about this song. It is a banger just like the rest of the album, and discography. Every time I try to do a top 10 list for MGMT, ten is simply not enough.
