To be fair, Psycho Mantis being present makes anything possible. If he could bring a flaming whale out of nowhere to eat a helicopter, I don't see why Ishmael can't just be Venom's way of simplifying Psycho Mantis' help. Maybe Big Boss does not "believe" he's Big Boss, he just woke up and questioning his own abilities. Who knows? Maybe Ground Zeroes was a flashback.

You were right 7 years ago about the double body theory sooner or later there will only be one boss there's only room for one boss Giving the right situation the right story anyone can be shaped into snake.

It's amazing how, after all this time, we're still able to dig something up from this entry in the MGS series.

It's amazing this game still makes you think, then rethink everything repeatedly trying to make sense of everything.

I have been trying to analyze things, I keep forgetting to do this but maybe you can, there's moments in the game where there's particles in the air and then they would be gone, I was theorizing that what if when there's particles in the air, that's when venom is hallucinating. Historically speaking, Kojima isn't the kind of guy to overlook a detail like a "double" of Ishmael. Typically everything is placed in a way to either have some prominent meaning, to f*** with peoples heads, or even a combo of the two. King of cryptic he is, that rascal. xD

Well done! I think all that's left now is to wait and see if this virtual 9 year coma is actually happening or has Kojima turned us all into Venom, experiencing lies after lies that we believe or hope to be true.

What with having an unreliable narrator who underwent hypnotherapy, anything could be true at this point, which is kinda sad, admittedly. Though it does fit thematically since MGS has been interpreted in so many different ways and has always had something to do w deception. I just find it hard to take anything seriously at this point unless it already conforms to a well established narrative, like Ishmael being BB or V's subconscious/shadow self. >

I believe there has already been a new MGS in the works since 2018. It's probably close to finished. And yes , I believe Konami & Kojima have been working together since that time.

Second Ishmael is the real Ishmael that boss has disguised himself as, you can even see that the ishmael mask kojima used there has fake skin and fake hair, realistic masks like that have to be made based on someone, why not another hospital patient? Edit: I still think ishmael isn't real, but the two ishmael thing can still co-exist with ishmael being disguised big boss. But the shitty cqc, the inconsistent timeline of events in the prologue and ending, the fact that K. Sutherland voices both venom and ishmael when no voice surgery is mentioned. All leads me to believe that either big boss never appears on the game, or that he is punished snake himself.

You should make a video on how you would write the other characters as you did with Venom. Your theory on Venom was clearly superior to what we got. I remember talking about Quiet to a friend because i actually hated her as a character. I sead to my friend i would of improved her story by having her befriend one of the child soldiers. Quiet would teach the child her CQC technique and pass her sniper skills down to them. Later on in the game i would have Quiet be killed in battle and the child would want "revenge." The child would be just as sufficient as quiet with the sniper rifle. The kid would ask venom if they could come along to a mission. Venom would refuse but the kid would sneak on to the helicopter. Venoms mission would go bad some how and he would get captured by the enemy. The enemy would be ready to kill Venom but as they point there guns at Venom there heads start to pop. Revealing a lone child sniper is taking perfect shots at them and saving Venoms life. Back at mother base Venom is so impressed with the kid he gives her the code name Sniper Wolf. I feel like it would of made sense with Sniper Wolfs lore also as i think she mentioned to Solid Snake that she met Big Boss she just knew him as a different name. Would of made quiet more likable imo.

We the players have been stuck in the loop for the past 7 years... Just like PT we need to work together to figure out how to break out of the loop.

Like ur content and would give my 2 cents if I’m allowed, specially from a true fan to another, the model art is true but weren’ intended to be seen by us, and knowing Kojima I’d say it’s his way to make sure whatever the engine running the game makes a exact actions, it’s true pointless that that isn’t the real big boss , fighting , tactics, and moves don’t fit at all, but not the coding part, second cent is every word about medical status of seeing things , visions and what os true or not are voiced not by the doctor but the master manipulator himself, that I see interesting specially after what big boss said in the MGS4 ending. Your 9 years theory I find interesting allot and it’s sooner than ever now ;-)

MGS 4 life (Firsty)

MGSV's ambiguous yet and multi-layered story is the gift that keeps on giving. The game's narrative couldn't fully be appreciated in 2015, but it can now be better appreciated, and there will probably still be more to talk about for years to come.

Yeah, this one is a bit of a stretch for me. Konami/Kojima using a red herring who looks like Ishmael to trick the players into thinking he was killed makes way more sense to me. Kojima is clever, but his diehard fanboys give him way too much credit for how deep his stuff goes sometimes. This is the same guy that: 1) has insanely childish humor 2) borrows a lot of his ideas from cinema 3) used nanomachines as an explanation for every major plot mystery in MGS4 4) indulges in gratuitous fan service 5) has been cutting content/missing deadlines/over-promising on content and not delivering since MGS2, at least 6) has such a big ego that he refers to himself as God in his games For every genius thing Kojima has done, there's been an equal amount of jank. MGS is still one of my favorite series but I try to be more realistic and not obsess over him like he's some sort of esoteric mastermind 24/7; I see him as a very talented yet flawed visionary. While I enjoy a lot of the theories from this channel, and some of them I do in fact believe to be correct, I see this Ishmael lookalike being just that... someone who looks like Ishmael for the sake of surprising the player and tricking them into thinking he just got gunned down. Konami reusing assets does not shock me at all.

Your deep dives and analyzes keeps my hope alive for a future for MGS. Never be GAME OVER!

7 years after the game released, you guys are still here, digging for the truth. I hope to see one day the final theory that will explain what is really hidden in the Phantom Pain. I would love to see more videos about Skull Face. There is so much that I still don't fully understand about this character. MGS V is one of the most mysterious game ever made, I'm sure the truth is out there. Two more years to see if the 9 years theory is true :)

When entering the crowded corridor, does the man holding the cell door use the singular or plural when speaking to venom? I haven’t been able to recognize the words he says, but it may be that he uses the singular form of the word when beckoning venom to join him in the hallway with the crowd

The Ishmael body double is definitely there to fuck with the players head. Makes the question the reality that they are playing in. That being said I truly believe that there's nothing more to it than that.

Imo even if there's alot of lie or illusion in MGV Venom still had a caring relationship with his team and staff, Quiet fell in love with him,Miller decided to stay with him even knowing he's not the real snake,i think all the snakes even the phantom are amazing characters and creations,Venom also carried alot of Guilt

Big boss just continued to use Null. This is programming similar to when he was first deployed against Big boss. First sense deprivation, then cassette tapes for programming. Which is interesting because Zero was using Skullface to do the same with the the tapes, ensuring Big boss had his way, even at the expense of his own life.

I think it's all in the mind of Venom after he listens to the tape From the Man Who Sold the World. He's trying to piece it together but it's still too unclear for him how it all happened.

Could it be that Ishmael is what came from Venom being implanted Snake's all missions like they said at the beginning? A sort of split personality from the real him and his new sub-conscious nake. I find it odd that Quiet never explores who Ishmael was, who essentially set her on fire and made her fail her mission, as if it was all Venom's doing. The "real" person in those scene was probably somewhere inbetween Venom and Ishmael. Normal him wanted to stand in the crowd to look, Snake him went right into the room, and the new him, still split between the two perhaps just stumbled in - perceived as Ishmael pulling in a helpless Venom.

I'm so happy to see so many people still talking about and playing MGSV! It just shows how great of an experience this game is. I never finished the game when it released, now going for the 100%

Maybe out of context but here's my interpretation of the hallway scene, I also always believed when Venom finds his true identity, its during the diamond dogs destruction with solid snake. Anyways here's my interpretation: Venom snake walks towards solid snake, his dead men around him. Gunshots can be heard everywhere, there's bullets on the floor, blood splattered on the walls. And he's forced to relive the memories of that day during the outbreak. He feels like a shell, a demon, nothing left now but one last fight before it all blows up to hell. No more place for outer heaven.

You don't play the Truth Mission. The Truth Mission plays you... Like a damn fiddle!

This game is a bottomless hole of what actually is happening/going on. Next thing you know Venom's going to show back up as a cyborg.

The idea of it being the same asset isn't surprising - Ishmael had to be at the back and the front. But Kojima definitely wouldn't allow them to be on screen together by accident.

Is it MGS5 we've lost? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Could it be for MGS6 with Kojima? Illusions, Mr. PythonSelkan. Vagaries of perception. Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose.

Why not much of MGS 1, 2, 3, 4 content? You doing all on MGS V man... There is pretty much no story there. This game was a spit on our faces. Fans was dying to have ather open in this universe & what we have? So empty on story Game, universe that was stand on story, have a game without a fk story. So stupid...

It probably means nothing too but people need to realize Venom Snake is not a "good guy" he was/is an antagonist. It's not like he's Sonic or Mario, Venom was a puppet and so are we in the immersion. Couldn't it just mean that Big Boss was disguising himself as various patients in order to blend in at the hospital while he was watching over Venom? Especially since no single patient would remain in a hospital for 9 years. I just figured he would eventually have to change his disguise over and over again in order to remain in close proximity to his target.

...this game did things storywise out of nothing with pixels which a billion-dollar-amazon-production failed hard at reusing the extensive narratives of one of the most brilliant writers of the last century. Cudos to Kojima.

Plot twist- twist the one that we saw at the end of game was Venom snake Why would they use a scarred medic with a shrapnel in his head to interpret big boss? Couldn’t they just take a guy that at least fights on par? Maybe venom snake didn’t even exist in the first place and it was just a split personality of an emotionally scarred man, no shrapnel in his head that gets longer, no metal arm, no green eye.

mgsv is just so funny to me its like 2 pmcs caught in Keter class containment breach of multiple scps one pmc being led by scp skull face from Quiets sexy ass to physco mantis and language parasite, hell even big boss can be considered anomalus as horn grows based on moral standing and he has above normal strength he is to able to take on quiet that casually takes out 3 soldiers like they are nothing,her kicks and punches break bones and she takes a tank round without turning into red mist and just has a bruise from taking a tank round she never misses the shot yet snake is able to dodge her shots after fired and beat her i close combat consistently all that is missing is mtf units to make the game from confusing clusterfuck into a masterpiece
