Jared demonstrates the installation of the MHK2 Wall Thermostat. The MHK2 wireless thermostat features a sleek, energy-efficient design that’s perfect for any room. It has an intuitive touchscreen interface that makes it easy to change settings and track your energy use. The MHK2 is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, so you can control your temperature without ever having to leave your seat. The MHK2 Thermostat is a better option because is has more features and is easier to use than the standard ceiling cassette remote for Mitsubishi.

JUST ordered an MHK-2 for my 15k btu FS air handler and am watching install videos, your cassette install is a different animal, however it is interesting to see it being connected and programed. I am wanting a more stabile control, as the internal sensor is just too wide either side of my set points. I got a chuckle out of the date of this video when you set the date on the display.....12-20-2022, my birthday and when I hit SEVENTY LOL. Thanks again 🙂

It is mind-boggling that Mitsubishi uses these as control units. Such old technology.
@ductlessplushvac
@ductlessplushvac Год назад
How is that mind boggling?
@Garrett_Builds
@Garrett_Builds Год назад
@@ductlessplushvac It is mind-boggling because their systems are considered premium, and you need an additional part to connect the unit to the internet. And THEN you have to use their app, which has been known to be buggy and slow. I wish they would adopt a more open approach and allow 3rd party thermostats to have the same control as the MHK and Kumo cloud. As a consumer, I expect a premium experience from a premium brand. I think installers should expect that too.
@ductlessplushvac
@ductlessplushvac Год назад
@@Garrett_Builds Okay let’s really talk about this. The MHK2 has all the settings for the unit if it’s a wall or cassette unit. They can adjust the Vanes, the fan speeds, the temp obviously and control the unit similar to the remote. If you use 3rd party stats like a Nest, or a Ecobee you can’t do any of them adjustments listed above. 3rd party stats are for furnace’s and A/C systems. And if you really want to you can use them you will just lose all the features Mitsubishi makes a hardwired converter so you can use 3rd party stats.
@Garrett_Builds
@Garrett_Builds Год назад
@@ductlessplushvac Your points are all great points on the functionality of the MHK2. I am happy that the MHK2 can do everything, but I am unhappy that it doesn't come with internet connectivity out of the box. I am unhappy that in order to get internet connectivity, I have to get lucky in finding the adapter online which has been scarce for years now. I am unhappy that the Mitsubishi stat ecosystem has no open protocol for integrating into a smart home. I am just plain disappointed in the start of the art indoor and outdoor units, with control units that plainly feel old and don't have the connectivity I can get from an ecobee, etc. For context, I am not using a wall unit, just a ducted air handler. You're right that I *can* use a 3rd party stat, and I was told by the installer that using a 3rd party stat on my unit would make the performance worse. Essentially, I would lose the ability to use the variable speed motor in the air handler unit. It would be on or off with little to no nuance.

I've thought about getting these for my bedrooms as they are well insulated and in AC mode. They cool the room down too quickly, it's a multi-split setup so the inverter can't go as low as a mini, and when the condenser shuts off outside, the fan keeps running and it becomes a humidifier. So I can have 70° with 70% humidity sometimes. So I have $50 celio breeze units that power the unit off when set temp is reached and get my humidity down into the 40% range. The idea of paying $350 for each bedroom unit seems a bit ridiculous. I was wondering if these shut the fan off in a different way than something like the Cielo.

I have mitsubishi. Outdoor unit is for 2 inside units at 22,000 BTUs. The H2i kind. I love it. BUt i have to agree with another person that they make you spend hundreds of dollars for the ability to control via Internet. Japanese companies (e.g., cars like Toyota) typically do this. They focus on the durability. THe cars and AC units will last forever, but they are VERY slow in adapting and incorporating latest tech. It is like they do not want to fix that which is not broken.

I just had 3 MLZ-KP09 units and one MSZ-FH09 installed with MXZ-SM36NAM outdoor unit. The units don't seem to stop at the set temp using the remote. Was told this MHK2 was the solution. Do you know how the MLZ cassettes measure what room temp is? Is it a sensor projecting down several inches or is it a sensor in the return? If I install the MHK2 does the cassette use the temp measured at the stat to run and stop when it has reached the set point for desired room temp? Thanks
@ductlessplushvac
@ductlessplushvac Год назад
So the indoor unit has a thermostat. If you use an MHK2 then the indoor unit will no longer operate at the temperature the MHK2 will. If you want to stop the unit from blowing you have a group of dip switches in the indoor unit. I believe it's the SW1 you will want to turn off that should stop the unit from running past the setpoint. I'll double-check this week and get back to you. Thanks for watching the videos please subscribe if you want more info and to watch new videos.

I had the same problem, living room unit was causing the cold breeze on my wife. I fixed that unit by cutting out resistor JR01 off of the circuit board per Mitsubishi application note 3048 (Note external temperature sensor is required for this, I have the little one that stick on the wall PAC-USWHS003-TH-1). There is also a resistor JRRE right next to it for turning off the fan when cool temp is reached this is also listed in application note 3048. Mitsubishi application note 1033 says that these units are supposed to run continuously but that just does not work well for me, I find they sometimes they keep putting out heat well above the set temperature except for the one in the living room with the resistor removed. I will likely cut the resistor on the other units at some point, it's just a pain to access that part of the circuit board to cut the resistor. I currently have 4 of the 5 units set to turn on and off based on room temperature using Home assistant with the Kumo Cloud integration so mine run like a regular heating and cooling system instead of the way mini splits are supposed to run per Mitsubishi.

I found a link to Mitsubishi application note 3048, They have updated it since I last downloaded it 2 years ago, it looks like some unit's have switches, mine have the resistors: device.report/m/3d1f620a84b1e8d81969a9e8a16199aa038669bd00c6b1798117e24419ba750a.pdf
