Great guide as always. i appreciate how in-depth you go, especially in terms of monster movesets. And I'm sure it will help a lot of new players in particular with some of the quirks of old-world monster AI.
I stopped p3rd to do tri multiplayer with a friend when that got released, and p3rd barroth felt so so so much easier after That Wall of Pain. Glad to see another of these out!! Hope your hunter doesn't overheat in her parka.
Haha yeah, I know there's some differences between even the same generation of games, for sure, that sounds like a lot of fun though, I'll have to play Tri and Dos and the OG eventually, seeing all of them get their towns back is just... really amazing stuff. Please make more content about Armor Sets like the specific Armor Strength, Weakness, Effects/Buffs, which monster you should use your armor, etc. I always hesitate on which armor should I use every hunt, so that's why I fought Jhen Mohran using my first set ever which is a Jaggi Set, lol. Anyways, I love your videos! This is where I always go If I got stuck on using a weapon or some guides for monsters. Hope you have a nice day~
Hey, yeah definitely, for every video I'll have a recommended armor set and weapon to use which will hopefully help most people. I'll try and give alternatives when I'm able to as well, and I'm planning on farming for the sets and giving a sort of run down as to what they could be used for at the end of these main guides as well. (I'll cover high rank when we get to it.) I'll try to consider other options relative to them as well, but I may just review them in a more isolated manner, I'm not totally knowledgeable on the progression in p3rd tbh 😅 When I first played I used the Rathian set because it looked nice, and I think that's a good reason too 😌 I'm glad you like my videos! he makes it look so easy while i almost took the full 50 minutes hunting time to just capture the barroth. mund you i also burned through my mega potions. although i did use an lbg without any elements, so i kinda get why it took that long. but still, this vid is so cool and also kinda pride breaking haha

@@HeadHunter455 uragaan is a best described as a rolly Polly disaster. If he starts rolling run or cart. I can't even recall how many times he carted me.
@@HeadHunter455 I don't know if it was it was due a bug in the game but on one particularly nightmarish hunt uragaan just kept spamming roll moves. It's like he forgot he has other moves in his moveset besides rolling attacks.
This was my first monster hunter and barroth was my first wall. I didnt even know which weapon had more damage than the other let alone hitzones. I just hit monsters until they died and he did indeed die when I started using lance instead of hammer because the charge would one shot me without block xD I did kill amatsu (I think) I may have seen it in a video instead. It was almost 20 years ago.
This monster is what blocked me from progressing until I switched to LBG. Ludroth LBG shooting water at mud areas and raw when all mud is removed makes this fight much easier.

Hello, I have a question, how do I get the Barroth tail? I want them to forge me a new weapon but I'm missing the Barroth's tail, I've already killed it 3 times and captured it 4 times and it still hasn't given me the tail, do I have to do something specifically or is the probability just very low?
Hey, unfortunately I started covering materials for later monsters but not this one 😅😅 You can find more info here: monsterhunter.fandom.com/wiki/Barroth_Carves#Village/Low_Rank_Guild But basically; You have a 25% chance to get a tail from capturing, and a 70% chance from carving its tail. Your best bet is to cut the tail off and carve it, otherwise you'll just have to keep capturing it and hope you get lucky. Also, just in case, make sure you're *not* doing the quest in 2 star guild hall, as that one doesn't even have a chance to get a tail. 1 and 2 star guild quests are considered "practice" ones and give less rewards than "normal" quests.
Thanks, I got it about 2 hours ago, it turns out that I was hunting it at a 2 star rank and with a battle horn, later I hunted it with a long sword and the 3 star rank, I cut off its tail and luckily it gave me the line. Also thanks for responding.
oof, yeah in the older games, there's usually like 3 stars of quests unlocked at the start, the first two are "practice" ones, which don't give you everything but I think they're a bit easier. Glad you were able to get it! 🙂
Oh no... I didn't realize it was a joke, and I sold my soul to OBS! Now dongs howl when I pass, flies constantly buzz around me, and cats... well, they've always hated me. But at least I beat Barroth. Edit: That was supposed to be dogs, but howling dongs is infinitely funnier to me, so I'm not changing it
As hbg user, barroth is actually my first wall when i play mhp3rd the first time due to his shot weakpoint being in the arm and tail, which is hard to aim when he have giant head and stick close to me like a damn glue 😅
lol I can imagine! oof His charge can be hard to avoid, especially if you move and sheathe your weapon really slow 😩 Guess you gotta get a shield or evade extender first lol
Basically, the village quests are singleplayer versions of the low rank guild hall quests. Unless you're playing with someone else, you should just focus on the village quests. Doing them will also unlock some features of the town, where the guild quests wont. I think. But the guild hall is the only place you'll find high rank quests, so once you're done with the village (which is what I'd recommend finishing first, along with the spring and drink quests) you need to go to the high rank guild hall to get better gear and progress. There's also some monsters that are only found in high rank, so, it's the mid and end game of portable 3rd.
I'll try and use bow sometime, but I don't know if I want to use it on Lagombi. I haven't made a bow guide video but that's planned when I have some time >.
That's the same equipment set I use for Uragaan only difference is that it's for the gunner set since I would never hunt an Uragaan with a blademaster weapon 😂😂😂
Nice! Haha fair :P I have an end game water LS set that works really well against steel uragaan, but it's with amatsu armor lol, I guess as long as you get water attack up it should work though, the water LS is pretty good, the barbarian sharq one..... I think...
