This is probably the best introduction to someone who is considering fighting games, in terms of advice ("play what looks cool, and if that means the complicated character or the Ryu, they're equally valid") and also acknowledging a new players fears while also saying why you'd still want to do it. I recently picked up the gunlance and the damage loop is satisfying. Looks like I need to learn to use the blast dash and blast dash into full burst more.

I'm wondering since element has such a large buff, would you have gotten a faster run with the newer Flaming Espinas gunlance after modding it and adding lvl 3 cameleous essence for poison uptime since it has a hidden mechanic to poison a monster by chance off melee hit? I tried it out recently because I suck with normal shelling and turned all 3 Magalas into beginner monsters. Literally 2 mins on a run where I got hit a least a dozen times, this game rules!!

And here I am still fighting him in like 25 minutes with gunlance lmao

Yeah to me the gunlance just isn’t satisfying without the wyrmstake. That was the whole reason I even picked it up in base rise. But great run though
