So, guys, I am using this device Mi Band 3 from the last one month and soon as this new firmware update v1.8.0.0 came I started observing all the changes that they have made in the device.
Noticeable changes while using the band.
1. Screen timeout duration is increased now to 5 seconds.
2. Band lock animation is changed.
3. On the main screen now you can see the icon for night mode in the top.
4. Animation for exercise icon is changed.
5. In today's temperature, it also shows now current temperature with Hi/Lo temperature.
6. Stopwatch now shows decisecond unit also.
The only significant noticeable change that I have observed is regarding screen timeout because imagine if you are observing something over the screen and it used to go out pretty fast before which was annoying to me.
Bug fixes.
1. Step counting is now significantly improved and it showed me an average accuracy of 87.79% as compared to just around 70% before in various cases as discussed in the video.
Highlights.
1. There is no improvement in the battery at all, instead, I have observed a faster battery drain around 15%, however when the device is idle battery usage is the same.
2. Sleep analysis data is still fairly inaccurate, if you will leave the device just idle in the night time it will record it as a sleep time also, even if you are wearing it there is a lot of inaccuracy.
Changes in the MiFit app.
1. Now you can see that when your device was last charged, I am not sure that it was observable or not before didn't noticed it before.
2. On tapping on Find Band now it vibrates the band thrice, it is just a minute change that they have made.
Final verdict
The only significant change that they have made is about step counting accuracy and screen timeout.
There were a lot of things that they could have looked upon as this device has a lot more potential for e.g., it takes a delay of 1 second to show the time when you put up your arm and a delay like this while you are riding or something is really annoying and needs to be resolved. They could have added an option to choose what type of exercise that you want to perform from your device, also ability to pick up the call over the speaker, or controlling your music from your device. Such things are possible from this device but were completely outlook.
