Spring break used to be for college goers. Now it’s for prostitution, twerking, gang & drug deals. Certain ppl mess life up for everyone else. Sick of it!!!!
I remember driving out to Daytona Beach when I was 16 in a convertible and beads certainly made me and my friends day if you know what I mean xD looking back we were so dumb, but again… 16 lmao
That doesn't matter to the business as long as they spend money. Last year the business in MB was fighting with the mayor to stay open longer. These people spend a lot of money and that what count. They don't care where their feet have been.
Same. Local students go to the beach all the time if weather permits. There are big colleges in Miami. The trash incident recently was from high school students.

I remember during the late 70’s when Ocean Drive had building apartments for the elderly retirees…The beach was clean and beautiful. Miami Beach was pleasant to walk by the shore…Those were the sane days!
Does certain groups cause most of these problems? Rules are for thee, not me. This group knows, if the police try to keep things civilized there will be hell to pay for the area and 85% of these people are not from college.

Spring break only lasts for a week. Some places are known for big crowds. Ask those who live in Manhattan, New York. However, I would be more worried about paying so much money for a house in Miami only for it all to go to waste due to the risk of a hurricane damaging it which is why I don't intend to relocate to anywhere in the state of Florida.

As long as they act like civilized human beings, I say have fun and be safe! We were ALL that age once. I just chose to not act like an animal when I partied!

Hey Latino for Trump, the residents of South Beach would be living a slum if it weren’t for tourists. And Black folks spend MORE MONEY than anybody else, and that goes to the development of Miami Beach. A lot of these tourists have more income than you’d ever dream of.
You'd punish the wrong group. Bar owners don't condone this behaviour either, and this is an important season for them to break even. I think a good step forward would be more active policing and much more checkpoints; forcing everyone to pass through checkpoints, and denying entry if they're too drunk, etc.
People self segregate naturally. When people have the freedom to live, worship, study, party etc; wherever they want to they usually do it with people like themselves. Nothing racist about it, just human nature. We've been tribal since our existence. Just look at spring break this year, white spring break is in Ft Laud and black spring break is in Miami.
I went to bike week every year for 16 years, twice a year. Bike week tends to be more white people. During bike week I have YET to see one fight. In fact I cannot even recall EVER seeing a entire street disrupted and shut down let alone the bridge, a Walmart trashed, or 75 guys confiscated (Panama City).

The charm of South Beach has been replaced by trash I remember when Atlanta started hosting freaknik, the city suffered from it's businesses to it's citizens. Enough was enough, the citizens had to reclaim their city by curbing down on event. For Miami to survive and thrive, it's got to curb down at any cost.
Sad to see the downturn of things in Miami Beach, but kudos to the police for keeping the residential areas safe. Having lived there a decade ago, I have to say they had done a reasonably good job in that respect, even if they were a tad bit "hypervigilant" -- better that than the opposite.
Would agree if it didn’t take an extra 40 minutes to get home last night because the police refused to remove the barricade for me when I was next to my house, as well as any entrances further down :^)

Must be nice to be rich college kids today . Us poor kids don't even know what spring break is . To us it was just a week off of school while we played in the street fire hydrant water for a couple of hours a day or 2 .

The only way to avoid this chaos every year, is to shut down all businesses during that spring break calendar. It costs the city more than what it earns from the chaos. Miami Beach can take a real spring break by shutting it down. Isn't better in the Bahamas?
Last year Miami Beach business was fighting to stay open longer. They make more money staying open and they love spring breakers, because these people spend lots of money during this time.
