Ok, i met Y.K. KIM in college, he knows he made a bad movie but its got charm, and btw Kim Is a motivational speaker now and quite a successful businessman, however as nice a guy as he is, and a good person, he STILL speaks the worst English I've ever encountered and he confessed to me that he has been living in this country for 40 years (or he said thanks for the beers, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm like 73% sure he said I've been in america for 40 years) This brings back a lot of good memories. It’s all about when you learn it. Most Asian languages don’t have some phonetic sounds, that are in English. So, you are literally rewiring your brain to make sounds you’ve never made in your life. It gets harder and harder to learn, without a deep accent, the older you get.

It pisses me off when I see fanboyflicks left out of people's lists of top movie reviewers on RU-vid. I can only assume it's because they haven't discovered him yet.
I just discovered him, and I’d never even heard of him before getting a RU-vid suggestion. One big problem is he doesn’t post on a regular basis. Everyone else on top the list, of the best, are posting once a month at minimum, but normally closer to once a week. He has to stay in peoples minds, for people to continuously talk about his channel.
In my opinion, Miami Connection is not only a "so bad it's good" movie, but it's also the epitome of that "genre", maybe because it's all so freakin endearing and enjoyable and overall encompasses every feature in 80s indie action movies.
Dragon Force is a great band name. I'm pretty sure there's at least several high school metal bands that used that name before ever knowing there's a fake band with the name from an 80s movie
having lived in orlando most of my life, it was an absolute treat watching this movie - i absolutely loved seeing all of the filming locations around town - downtown/church street station, ucf, etc
Me and the wife got married at a venue right where their nighttime downtown Orlando fight sequence occurred [with the train tracks]. She doesn't know i agreed to that spot because of that scene.

This may sound crazy but I like Mark. He seems like a really great guy and a good friend. They all seem like great guys, singing about friendship, not being afraid to be vulnerable. Good for them. I like our Mark, too. He's very vital for a 50-year-old.
Back in Orlando I went to study karate at one of Kim's dojo's and stopped at brown belt. I think Kim wrote all the songs for the band it sounds like it .
The best I can figure is that Dragon Sound is "preventing" Jeff from controlling the area because his sister dating their bassist is so upsetting to him that he can't focus on running his drug ring. The dialogue makes it sound like the band is actively opposing him, and it doesn't help that they have a song called "Against The Ninja," but that seems to just be a coincidence. I don't know. Maybe the film actually gives a full explanation of this but we can't hear it because all the actors say their lines on top of each other in every scene.

Three weird things about Jim's monologue: 1) I think those are real tears, 2) the rest of the cast really holds it together, and 3) Right after he tells his friends that this is his real father, someone asks, "Are you sure?"
Either he's secretly telling his real life back story or under the shot hes pinching the shit out of his leg xD. The composure of the cast there is a little too impressive for me haha they're all enthralled with the new info about there brother they have a step dad! The movie's golden lol.

Nothing can top this as my favorite bad movie of all time. It’s premise is downright laughable when you say it out loud (a college Tae Kwon Do band fights against a group of cocaine dealing ninja bikers while singing about the power of friendship). The movie contradicts itself so often it’s hilarious. It’s not even set in Miami, and it denounces violence minutes after savoring each kill. The acting is incompetent but it’s also very earnest as well. It’s also competent where it matters. The neon lit cinematography isn’t bad and adds an 80’s charm to it, and I have seen far worse fight choreography from movies like this. It’s not like other bad movies where the production quality is so low that the movie is just ugly to look at
colten53 just because it wasn’t set in Miami it doesn’t mean it’s not the Miami connection, and the acting is spectacular, not one guy in the band laughed uncontrollably during the monologue, now that’s commitment and professionalism. You know nothing about movies.

Though I know this movie is just a (un?)forgettable B-movie flick, as I'm Korean, I can see what was going on in the Asian guy's (who's co-directed and wrote this shlock) mind, because he's Korean, too: insane rivalry about practically anything about Japan (that's why movie's main villain is ninja, and one of the theme song is called "Against the Ninja"); devotion to parents (that explains why the Black guy cries and acts hysterically about the parents' letter); desperate attempts to be recognized as KOREAN worldwide, whether the foreign people cares or not... Those are the (quite nationalistic, I admit) frequent motifs that you could find in Korean fictional works or any of the cultural artifacts. They're today less frequently met in there (because the nationalism is not "in" anymore, particularly between the younger people), but when I was little (80's and 90's), those things were quite rampant - almost inescapable. I think this Taekwondo master is a product of its time. Well, at least, he tried and I completely respect that. (especially when I found out he practically was bankrupted due to the movie's failure) But it's also true that he's obviously a horrible translator of Korean cultures into American cinema; and budgetary problem, practically know nothing about how to make a movie, and he didn't have much charms neither as Bruce Lee nor as Jackie Chan - and, last but not least, just blindly following his own country's fad (nationalism) in a foreign country whose people didn't know anything about it.
To be fair America was pretty nationalistic at the time too. Also, I love this movie unironically! It's just so funny! I think it's less about the themes themselves and more about the poor set up (I mean we had no idea about the sub plot with the dad until half way into the movie). Also it's interesting to hear a korean's perspective!!
Now, this might sound crazy, but hear me out on this: I think Miami Connection has the potential for a modern revival as a TV series. Let me explain. Given how the 80's are basically in right now, why wouldn't someone want to make an over the top, ridiculous 80's style action series about a rock band group who fight ninjas in Miami, Florida? Heck, the show could go in detail about how the band first formed and who the individual members are. We could even get into the backstories of the villains of the show and how they wound up the way they are!
OK people let's sort this out. I think we can all agree that Mark puts a lot of effort in to each of his vids and clearly enjoys doing them. So let's get this guy more subs. Who knows maybe with more subs there will be more vids. Tell your friends stop the presses yell from the roof tops so on and so forth. Oops I nearly forgot. .. Oh hi Mark

Yeah, there would be no point in watching this film if it actually stuck to the plot: it'd just be another forgettable 80s action flick. The song is part of what makes it entertaining!
