You can finally wink your Miata pop-up headlights from your phone! MX5 Tech has released a easy to install wiring harness that allows you to do all sorts of fun headlight shenanigans with either your tombstone button in the car, or the app. The control box has a very very slow electrical draw so if you keep your miata parked for excessive amounts of time make sure to disconnect the battery. Or don't. I don't really care to be honest. I'm just some random guy on the internet writing a description for a video that you will never even end up reading anyways. Does anyone even read these?

Update: For those curious, the app is now up and running for IOS and Android. It is unchanged from how it looks @ 3:55 and still works great!

Brooo my jaw dropped when I saw your Miata.... You don’t see many baby blue Miatas, and ontop of that I have the exact same model, color and fucking wheels in NFS Payback, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this video.... I build my dream car in a game to see it in a video days later, fucking rad!

@@pancake5830 the main thing for me is the customizability of an android phone. I can install emulators, file explorers, texture packs, and more. With Apple you have to jailbreak your phone and do some shady shit

@@blazedkromer8922 miata's are a ton of fun as winter drivers! I daily drove miatas for 2 winters in a row and had almost no issues. Get some good tires and you will be good for almost everything winter has to throw at you. Obviously with it being such a small and low car the big snow storms can be a bit of a problem.

I downloaded the "MX5tech Remote" App, and it automatically connected to my car. The main menu in the app has 2 options, "test diagnostic" and "test wink". All of the wink functions are obviously under the "test wink" option. I'd be curious to see what would happen if multiple cars with the module were beside each other with multiple people giving commands!

Did you have to cut any wires, read their installation process online and it said something about UK Cars being different (& it saying plug & play). So I’m confused and not sure, currently having trouble with mine. :(

No i didn't have to cut anything, it should just plug right up! When mines installed and I disconnect the battery and reconnect it it makes the lights do a little wink up and down phase, maybe see if yours is doing this.

The kit is made to plug directly to the Miata headlights, however I'm sure you could figure out all of the power outputs from the control box through the harness to make it work for other applications. What car would you put it in?

Bought this after seeing the video.. installed today. When using the app I have to be standing right next to control box. One step away and it doesn’t work. Do you have this problem?

No mine works fine as long as I’m within 15’ ish of the car. Make sure your battery is fully charged. If not that maybe there’s just something wrong with the unit itself!

hmm when I look I see either it on it's own or a bundle package with their diagnostic tool. You don't need the diagnostic tool for this, so just the cheep option.
