Guys, do it this way: First google the mic connection, then draw the connection or print it. The connection is seen from inside the opened mic. First, slid on the mic body onto the cable: 1: The screen/copper braid wire is ground. 2: The wire the copper braid is wrapped round is the mic audio wire. 3: Not touching the mic, test between ground/braided wire and the other two wires. The wire that bleeps or moves the meter is the receive wire. The other wire is the transmit wire. 4: Now match the wires to the mic plug as seen from inside the plug. Simple.

Good share..I have the exact thing except I took a 4x4 inch price of wood and put nails in it and plug the jack in the radio to the nails then put a rubber band on the talk button and just touch the nails till it's working..then clip solider and talk..I haven't shared it...have a great weekend. 73s 👋 700 weedkiller/RU-vid

Good job guys. Does it matter what pins are associated with colors? Like 1-green, 2-red, etc??

I take it this system would work if I made a 6/8pin version ? I have an Alinco DX10/DR135 microphone with the PTT switch issue changing channel channels when ever i de-key the mic, I've had similar feed back from others that have had the same issue. so I dont want to purchase another bod-standard replacement Alinco EMS-70 for the Alinco DX10. The cheap factory fitted mic has no screened lead. I've researched another Alinco replacement mike that has a key pads on it, which states and advertises that its compatible with the Alinco DR135 which is the same radio as the DX10. The Alinco DX10 & Alinco DR135 are a 6-pin radio and the replacement microphone advertised is an EMS-57 for these radios, fitted with an 8 pin wiring to the plug. This is a more complexed wiring situation but I suppose this would eventually work in the same way to get the microphone to work, my main concern is I would end up with two spare wires left over and I bet they are used and there for a reason. Just a little more complicated. You seem like a bright guy who would probably be able to help and advise me further. Great tutorial guys

I'm absolutely fed up with mic wiring BS. Why in the holy fuck did the industry not standardize on colors and pin set up. The endless variations and combinations is absolutely frustrating. Grrrr. Thanks for trying to help but I am still lost

I wouldnt do this for a radio that has 110 volts id only advise this on 12 volt mic jacks which is most of your modern stuff

Why not cut a Cobra mic cord and add alligator clips?

Um if you have a radio with a hot pin you will destroy the radio using that method.

if you were a tad bit smarter you can save yourself 8 bucks and googlefoo how to actually use that multi meter you have. by looking up the specs on the mic ucan check for the 50 ohms when keyed up modulation. 1 will op[en when keyed and one will close when keyed . you two were entertaining keep making content
