Yeah I really liked him on TUF as a coach. He seemed genuinely upset he couldn't coach when he got kicked off for getting injured before the Liddell fight.
Agree. And out of all those guys, he lasted the longest. No idea what happened to most of those other fighters or if some even fought on after the show. Hamil and Grove are the only two other guys who went on to do well. But no one is like the Count!
I went back and forth on Bisping. I liked him in TUF, couldn't stand him for most of his career and celebrated when Dan Henderson knocked his consciousness to Mars, and I liked him for the last couple years of his career (and I like him now).
@@Skank_and_Gutterboy You mean now that he's no longer being paid to be an asshole on TV, he's being a nice guy on TV and you like him? Seems reasonable. lol
Ortiz gets trashed a lot for being a clownshoe but he honestly seems like one of the best coaches in TUF history. Then again it probably doesn’t take much when you have ken shamrock in the other corner making dudes lift sandbags and watch his old fights.
And few years later he was defending his world championship against the one the only George St-Pierre You never know how far you can go if you give up. Michael Bisping is a true legend and true motivation.
@@paleo704 I’m not talking about fight results, the way Shamrock trained them was stupid, some days watch this old fight of mine see how good I was next day he’s breaking their backs.
Been watching your content for at least 2 years and love to see some new uploads. The TUF compilations are my favorites. I've watched multiples for Bisping clips, he's one of my favorites, so to have a dedicated Bisping compilation finally is awesome. Thanks for the awesome videos man and you're a true historian for the sport, for real. You do a really good job.
I agree too, these older seasons is a bit - you wouldn't mind watching them again but there's a lot of guff filler. Just like the new series, these are much better ways to reminisce.
When this first came out i watched the entire season, out of all the fighters i disliked Bisping the most, I was pulling for Josh to win the finale. Mike changed a lot over the years and proved himself to be an outstanding fighter, became middleweight champ, fought Anderson and GSP. Bisping is the man in 2023 to a hardcore mma fan like me.
Did I mis something? I wasn't following UFC atm. Only for a few years that I'm watching every week. So I only know Bisping like he is now and I like the guy alot. And watching this video he still seems likable to me tbh, but I've read so many people about how much they disliked him back in the day. Was it from something outside TUF? He seems sliightly more arrogant here but nothing too crazy imo...
@@johan9388 To be fair I believe some of the dislike came from the assumption that he was protected by the UFC and Dana in the early stages of career to help bring in the UK market
The hole time Bisping competed I couldn’t stand him, level liked him, it’s only when he retired he’s now my favourite UFC personality, i listen to every podcast of his every week, I love the guy now 😂
@@johan9388 he was definitely a lot more hot headed back then, and had a "if you don't like me, I don't give a flying fuck" attitude that rubbed some people the wrong way. I'm coming from a similar perspective to you, and I find Bisping likeable here, but I'm acutely aware that my perception of him is heavily influenced by the fact I've already come to know him and like him as the more level-headed, humble guy he is today. And that's not entirely just bias, partly its that I understand where he's coming from a bit better than I would have watching this fresh at the time.
This season is what got me properly into MMA/UFC. They advertised it on Bravo TV (if anyone remembers that) with “and for the first time!!! Great Britain!!!” And I was in
@59:05 the fact that Bisping said he's gunna win with 3:47 in the 1st rnd and won with 2:47 in the 1st rnd is freaky good. Almost nailed it. Never noticed this until now.
Bisping is a lot like Forrest Griffin. Both guys didn't have the god given talent or ability, but they worked their asses off and both achieved the highest goal you can get. Can't help but respect both guys. I wasn't a big Bisping fan, but fuck that guy never gave up. He lost so many title contender fights and just kept climbing back up the ladder.
Bisping was an absolute beast at this time. He was the LHW & HW English kickboxing champion. So when he went to audition for the show he'd already beaten all the other fighters auditioning.
was hard for bisping to see it at the time, but I’m sure he looks back and is grateful to be able to have practiced with literally the best wrester in the world at the time and he had the kind of ‘respect’ to go 100% because how could he really learn at 40%
Now you just need snacks. I haven’t smoked in over 10 years.. but my favorite was always beef jerky and lemonade. Salty, sweet and sour. Now jerky is like $20 a bag, it’s fucking ridiculous.
I never did like Shamrock, and I'm an avid hater of Tito truthfully, but man Ken was really an abysmal coach. Playing devil's advocate I'll say this show was in it's infancy. So he may not have truly understood the impact and importance of his role at the time. Though Tito brought it all and made him look really bad in comparison. I hate Tito as a person but I respect his fight game and I respect his love for the game even more. He was a damn good coach. Even more so, In contrast to Ken.
@@jaywjr2456 Tito might be a very dislikeable fighter, but he's the greatest coach of TUF so far. and this is the only time Tito looked like a main character and not not an absolute dick like what he was known for.
Tito almost sounded intelligent this season. He showed his heart was in the right place for sure. And truth be told he definitely lost brain cells in the years following this season lol. I seriously forgot that Hammil, Grove, and Bisping we’re all on season 3.
The next time they do tuf i hope they bring in some legends.... we don't need a coaches fight at the end up the season. We need more tito, shamrock, gsp, diaz, silva, bisping, pulvar. i could go on and on but if they made the show with guys like that it would make it fun again. Fuck bring in leban and koscheck for the first legands!
the worst thing is my friends shaved both my eyebrows off a day before my first day of college, i wondered why when i woke up my roommates were so nice to me and brought me breakfast 😡😡 good times....that was 10 years ago how time flies :)
a deaf guy should not be fighting in the UFC unless he can hear. his excuse for hitting after the bell is going to be "I cant hear the bell" and that's dangerous as fuck.
40:52 Kalib Starnes making fun of Matt Hamil for being weak. He was kicked out of the UFC and humiliated after he was terrified and running scared from Nate Quarry and Quarry was just clowning on him and Starnes literally was turning around and running for his life it was easily the most embarrssing moment
Maybe this ain’t the right place to comment here: BUT for some reason I always wanted to see Mike Bisping Vs Forrest Griffin = Both in there primes at Light Heavyweight. LOL
And he only had ONE eye the entire time he fought in the UFC. Amazing..Shamrock has GOT to be putting some of his future WWF action in there. Surely, Ortiz didn't really get to him that much.
Bisping grew one inch between the Ross Pointon fight and the Josh Haynes fight. That is dedication if I ever saw it. (Btw, I'm a Bisping fan so no hate please. =) )
37:25 if I had to guess, around this point is the exact moment Michael decided on that arm bar for Matt. He stares at matt, then fixes his arm band, while looking at this arm, with wide eyes back to Matt. I wonder....
