Captain EO is my favorite Disney Film they should definitely put it on Disney+ cause it’s a classic and MJ is perfection also “Another Part Of Me” best arrangement is the best in this film the baseline is so funky and groovy I love it also “We Are Here To Change The World” is such a great song/message and the singing & dancing part was basically the part of coming together to change the world which he did at the end with taking the evil out the lady there also George Lucas the creator of Star Wars worked on this with MJ which is iconic two legends in there respective fields coming together to create this masterpiece it’s simply The Greatest Disney Short Film Of All Time! By The Greatest Music Artist Of All Time! Michael Joseph Jackson🤩🙌🏽🤍💫✨(Also I would like to let you know that MJ during the scenes were the monsters w/ the whips when they were swinging them he got hit w/ one of the whips but he was okay and continued, but there was a incident where he did get injured during this Short Film which btw was estimated to have a budget of $17 Million - $30 Million, what happen tho was the the movie set tilted and fell against his hand, then the other injury occurred when he fell during a dance routine. Dr. Steven Hoefflin, the same doctor who treated the young singer when his hair caught fire during filming of a Pepsi commercial in January 1984, said Tuesday that Jackson suffered 'a bad sprain' of his right thumb but was expected to return to work 'in a day or two.' Just a little insight to how it was working on this film etc.)
You mentioned that it was in 3d, and that I saw it after they brought it back to epcot. I can't speak to the original ride. But the version they brought back was in 4D, getting sprayed with water, woodshed with air. All that stuff. VERY FUN!!!!
Oh wow, that's really cool. I had no idea it was a 4D thing. I don't remmeber it being advertised as 4D during it's first run so I bet that was an improvement when they brought it back.
I saw this brand new back in the 80's. If you noticed during the space battle when the 3 ships were chasing EO they weren't firing. That part they actually had real lazers shooting out of the movie screen over or heads. Also when the robot was using his light to find the captain the light was going over us. I tried to see where it was coming from but couldn't find it. It was a trip.
When I was a kid every time I went to Disneyland, with family or friends, I wanted to watch Captain EO. Also, I didn't know who Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas were yet!
It wasn't actually a ride lol; it was a 3-D video/short film in a theater. When it opened at Disneyland in 1986, the park stayed open for 60 hours straight, and you could come back as many times as you wanted within that window as long as you didn't take the bracelet off. Also, every time you entered, they gave you a T-shirt with the same stripe on the front as MJ's and the dates of the event on the back. I have three of them 😉. They did the same 60 hour party when Star Tours opened, but we didn't get anything but the stinkin' bracelet with that one lol. It's hard to imagine Disney doing something like that now (and they certainly lost money on us lol. We never ate in the park, didn't pay for parking, and after the first day, we were only there in the middle of the night when the park was the emptiest so the lines for everything were shorter ☺).
that's interesting about it not being a ride. I'd always heard that the seats moved around like Star Tours, which Disney considers to be a ride. It's fun to know that they stayed open for so long for it!
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast The seats may have had speakers or something that gave off vibrations, but it was definitely in a theater with hundreds of other people; it replaced another attraction that had already been in there that also had stationary seating. (I think it was that Country Bear Jamboree or whatever it was; I don't know how familiar you are with old Disney attractions. I grew up in L.A. and I'm now 57, so I saw most of them 😁.)
