And yet what happened? He didn’t want to start over in 1999. Because he knows idiots like u look at him like he’s perfect, so coming back after 1998 without Phil and Scottie, was gonna show that he isn’t perfect. He picks up and leaves when the media kicks his ass. Steps away when coach and sidekick don’t wanna come back.
Do u people know the definition of class? Michael is great. He’s a legend. He’s not and never been classy idiots. He’s actually telling the owners who to respect and what to do. That they should bring back the coach. And u idiots think that’s ok. Makes fun of Rodman. Makes fun of the cubs
For real. Barely touched the tip of the iceberg. I was disappointed in how many of his mind blowing highlights weren’t shown in a 10 part series!!! Forever the 🐐
@@Ctothebg My thoughts exactly. Little of his highlights and little of his legendary stories. I enjoyed the series, but I think it could have been even better.
Look how Mj handled these journalists. Unlike players today that can be wasily annoyed with questions thrown at them. Even when it comes to answering post games interviews Mj is still the goat. Look how they applaud him. 👏🏼
“Very happy for the city of Chicago” Michael is somehow the most and gracious and humble while exuding supreme confidence. Transcendent of the NBA, the game of basketball, one of the greatest humans to have ever lived. Michael.
At 8:57 and 11:04 Jordan mentions Rodman’s dresses or hair styles and the media members snicker both times. Notice how MJ doesn’t crack a smile. He wasn’t saying that to be funny. He was trying to point out that he doesn’t care how different his teammate may be off the court because he gives EVERYTHING on the court. Whoever says Jordan isn’t a GREAT teammate doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
I'm sure it wasn't easy at times and even MJ admitted he could be harsh with his teammates but I'm sure Magic, Bird, and other past greats were just as demanding to propel and lead their teams to victory. Anyway, if it was as bad playing with Michael as some people make it out to be, why didn't anyone request a trade away from Chicago because of MJ's behavior towards them?
I appreciate Michael giving credit where credit is due. The media back then and maybe even now easily labels him as a troublemaker and they let that define him. It's great when Dennis' teammates emphasize what a hard worker he actually was.
How many stars can speak with so much sense like Mj. That's what makes him so great. He wants what's best for his team not for himself. Very smart player. Even reporters can't even argue with him. Mj's the real goat.
@Jeffrey Michael, A lot. Watch interviews of the Dream Team. You would learn how eloquent those old school players were. They articulate their answers so well and martial their thoughts properly. Unlike somebody we know who'd excuse himself at one interview because "I didn't go to college" as an excuse and many times ridiculed his teammates in interviews. That intelligence maybe made these players of old the humility and the different mindset in their approach of the game of basketball compared to today's NBA. I don't question their love for the game these days but man it was different back then.
Best post game interview. what jordan said about steve kerr is very touching. mj definitely was/is the true meaning of being a great leader. truly inspiring.
And he has no idea that in 20 years he'll be almost worth 2billion, the Jordan logo is probably worth more than the logo he played for.....that my friends is called transcendent
Yup. He had no idea because he didn't care about that. Unlike a lot of these newer athletes, he didn't forget to put the sport ahead of some brand. His brand was simply performance and winning
but Jerry Krause didn't he wanted all the recognition and was so anxious to break up that team his ego told him he could build another championship team without Michael, Scottie, and Phil and get the glory. Reinsdorf should have listened to MJ and made Phil the GM/Coach and given them the chance to win until they lost and with the shortened season in 99 because of the lockout if Jordan, Scottie, Phil, and Dennis had been brought back they probably would have won another championship
@Ulysses432 Remember had MJ not left it likely would have been 8 in a row, and with a shortened season possibly 9. I agree with you but we'll never know. That's one of those great "what if's" in sports that we'll always wonder about
@9:12 "No one's guaranteeing rebuilding is gonna be 2 or 3, 4 or 5 years." That's absolutely spot on. The Bulls are still rebuilding until this very day. Only one Eastern Conference Finals win since MJ retired in 1998.
I rarely saw MJ say how tired he was in a post-game interview, I felt like the 5th championship didnt come easy for him but he dedicated his whole heart and soul to the team, the city and the league. Also, his eloquence and wittiness was truly impressive to me.
fun % it's an old school thing. This press conference there was no game or series next! It's almost like you can finally say how you're truly feeling! MJ did it with a lot of class too which is rare to see today
The 6th was probably worse. Indiana took them to the brink of elimination. In game 6 against Utah, Pippen basically couldn't play due to his back and he missed almost half the regular season. I'd say the last championship was probably his most tiring.
That was some real shit he said about Pippen and Kerr. Its not easy being the man and a leader of men. Jordan watched Pippen grow as a man and player on and off the court. He definitely gave Rodman his props.
This guy literally just said he wasn't leaving until Pippens contract is up so he won't be stuck with the Bulls without him and have the decision making power to go where he wants. Pippen is so wrong for what he's saying about MJ now.
@damianpresha9833 That’s a complete lie. Pippen was on the Dream team, he was voted top 50. Everyone including MJ says there would be no 6 titles in Chicago without Pippen. MJ called Pippen his greatest teammate, his MVP - literally upon receiving his 5th finals mvp award, he says, "I'm sharing this with Scottie cause he's my mvp". Everyone acknowledges Scotties greatness... Stop it. Do you even pay attention.
This guy is the perfect example of showing what a true champion is about, the hard work and dedication he puts in but MJ had to go through hurdles to make it to the top. In College he won, the pros he won a ton, the respect from fans. Lebron fans will come up with excuses in why he’s suppose to be the GOAT. ❌❌❌- Jordan has the will, the heart and the mentality and killer instinct to lead a team to championships. Lebron will never be better than him- NEVER.
Mario Bryant you’re right with everything you said but you know what doesn’t get said enough? Michael Jordan was a GREAT teammate. He never cheated the game or his teammates. He led with a purpose and didn’t micromanage. And he is always authentic. Never acts like a phony when the cameras are on. That’s probably why his teammates had so much respect for him.
Beautiful his words your words and the words of other fans of Michael Jordan. Great people without a hidden agenda. Michael Jordan Greatest of all times.
I understand that this is MJ but you cannot sneeze at what lebron has done on a high level..... Ok mike has 6 rings but did he show up to the finals 10 times.... Never mind the wins and losses.... 10 times!!!! You have many great nba players who will never see the NBA finals.....
thanks for this post. truly. mj carries and leads his teammates instead of criticizing his team and teammates esp in front of live TV and during pre and post conference. when MJ talks about basketball call it cliche but it seems and feels his heart is in the game, his love for the city of Chicago and the world, to basketball fans. much respect. MJ the epitome of a professional basketball player and a leader. happy for Steve Kerr , even now as he is coach.
That's another thing that today's play er ts could learn from mj. His sincerity when answering reporters. Today alot of players act too condescending and try to belittle.
This guy was my damn idol as a kid who grew up in the country and played basketball... getting to see his prime in person is one of the best things in my life, it's something I cherish because I followed him like I was getting paid to do so. Broke my heart when he was forced in to retirement. Can anyone imagine a day when a GM would tell everyone before the season, Kobe's done after this season because phil isn't coming back. Getting to see this 10 part documentary has been AMAZING! Is it a puff piece? Of course... but that doesn't take away anyting from what Jordan accomplished. Lebron and all these new comers know nothing of what it is to stay in your city, and make it great... now they all hop teams and play for a season and move on. There's no love, there's no passion and there's no defense.
from 7:23 until the end is the part of the press conference I REALLY wanted to see. MJ did not hold back at all on the front office and the lack of respect they received.
Look- why do you think the Warriors are winning like that- Steve Kerr came from the Jordan cloth.... Secondly- scottie pippen should feel bad!!! Jordan was just blunt, honest, and it shows!!!
MJ said the exact same thing Scottie is saying now - Scottie never got the recognition he deserved, he’s worthy of the co-MVP, and deserving same money and contract as Mike that he never got.
One thing I tend to notice about Jordan and this era is, Jordan was side by side with the city of Chicago. I noticed how he felt like he was representing the city of Chicago. whereas in this era, they dont care about the fans. I thought that was probably one of Jordans best qualities as a player that gets overlooked. Does anybody else feel like that? Im a laker fan - I always felt Kobe share that quality too, like he was down with the city. I miss that in this modern era of nba, where the player felt like "I do this for the city". IMO
Wow the Steve Kerr WIFE reference wow wow Michael was the best. Punching him in the face in practice and the consoling with Steve’s wife wow wow to be so outspoken. Kids this is the real role model in sports.
When some guy said he can't be the goat but instead chose the guy with such resume like scoring a single digit in the playoffs and one of those in the finals, outplayed by smaller bench players of the opposing team and took a back seat on defense.... LBJ. MJ was undefeated in the finals and in all of those series he was the best player, so saying Robert Horry was better than him because he had seven rings is stupid. What MJ meant to the league and how this transcendent player impacted not just the NBA but the game of basketball in general couldn't be replicated. That mystique and reverence that surrounded him can't be measured by stats...
Brave Fart anyone that ever makes the Robert Horry argument as an example shows that they know nothing about basketball. Robert Horry was an extremely talented role player that played his role perfectly on 7 title teams but he was NEVER EVER. the focal point or driving force of a championship team.
As I said great respect to all fans of basketball and Michael Jordan. This is and you are great for posting another great comment . Keep it going guys.
Jerry’s really screwed this one up. Lesson to take away is that you never leave titles on the table especially when your ace is still performing at his peak
Man the way he talks about Scottie is true class and talking about how he should get all the recognition is special. Makes me sad as a 90s kid and it’s seriously Such a damn shame pippen has ruined his relationship with Mike. MJ will always be the GOAT! 🐐
He will say he needed an even better super team than what the Lakers have with AD. Afterall, he did say he would want to play with all the superstars in the NBA. What a moron. Who does he play against if theyre all on his team? A question he never considers.
12:16 MJ says he enjoys being there with reporters. Compare that to Lebron who at the press conference says that he will still be rich and fans still be poor and have problems. How does anyone even stomach Lebron let alone root for him?
