Best mid-range game ever. The way he's able to go both ways, pull up on a dime, get as high as he would on a dunk and pop a jumper over a defender is beautiful to watch. I always appreciated MJ's midrange and post game more than I did his acrobatic lay-ups or dunks. This is what truly made him the most skilled offensive player the game has ever seen.

No one is near this man’s level. He was too efficient and savvy along with pure killer skills. He scored big on everybody and after 86, he seemed to really put it on teams that had the great ones or good defenders like Alvin Robertson. He really scorched Boston a lot after 86. Atlanta too

@ 3:30 he almost decapitates himself on the rim. The greatest play of another basketball players life was what jordan did about once every ten plays. The older I get the more I realize what a freak he was. Most of the highlights of his career are from later in his career in his thirties after he lost a degree of his superhuman athleticism. These kids think that was Jordan. That was OLD Jordan. lol

Thank you! The under-the-basket camera angle that is employed during basketball coverage is useless!!! I have been arguing this point for years. The game - and it's most exciting plays such as breakaway dunks - are best viewed from the standard elevated center-court camera angle so that you can see all the action with the proper perspective.

So I'm a bucks fan and as with anyone watching in this era a Jordan fan. This is third game RU-vid finds with Jordan just dominating and the Bucks still winning. I suppose Jordan dominated every game. He did average 30 pts/gm for his career and which includes his time with the Wizards. Today's pro game simply has no strategy and no movement with players off the ball. Just a lot of bullshit iso ball at the top of the key where initial player plays a little cat and mouse until either hoisting a 3 or dribble driving to the hoop.

@natedablack7857
@natedablack7857 4 года назад
@@bgrady24 No, he mentioned him because the #1 selling tactic of today's sports media, is to CONSTANTLY create these "Lebron vs MJ" narratives, in order to garner HUGE ratings. They know that advertising someone from this era/generation as some sort of 'rival to MJ'' if you will, appeals to your generation, and is the BEST way to sell him and the sport to this generation, which never even saw MJ play. It's their PROVEN (and favorite) go to tactic. They did it with Harold Minor, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Kobe, and now LBJ. Again: they know that constantly mentioning him in conjunction with MJ is a PROVEN marketing strategy. It DOES NOT, however, mean that he's on his level...
@bgrady24

So [now] they're [able] to [take] and [make more] of them at a [higher rate], than what previously may have been [allowed] in years past." -- Stu Jackson, VP of NBA Basketball Operations: "Rules Changes Have Freed Shooters, Allowed Offenses To Soar"; By John Hareas, NBA.com April 10, 2009 You see, when someone (like yourself) doesn't have a frame of reference of HOW the individual stats of players from different eras came into fruition, and even worse, you actually think that you're making a valid comparison between the two, then it is YOU who looks/sounds foolish, to anyone who knows what they're talkin' about. You late millennial/gen z fanboys are gonna learn one way or the other, that you can NEVER compare what LBJ has done (and is doing) to MJ, based on their stats. Because LBJ's #s are INFLATED; they're on steroids, via the current rules! He's playing in an era with rules, that former commissioner David Stern ALREADY ADMITTED, were implemented so that current/future perimeter/wing players like himself, could (and would) be able to impact the game in a similar (if not better) fashion "like mike". He admitted to all of this back in '07! So what are you talkin' about?!!
@bgrady24
@bgrady24 4 года назад
@@natedablack7857 So I guess that settles it. Now its impossible for anyone to be better than Jordan because Stu Jackson and Stern said the rules are different. Ok, by that rationale Wilt is far greater than Jordan because they implemented several rules to slow him down (wider lane, offensive goaltending to name a few). And not really sure why you think LeBron's stats are on steroids, since they play almost exactly the same minutes per game. The pace in the 80's (especially early) was higher than today. Its good they sped up the pace because the mid 90's was a brutal era. Just because games were 86-82 does not make them great defensive battles by the way. I've watched both. Both are great players, but end of the day LeBron is better at more skills than Jordan. But Jordan was a better pure scorer. Jordan was winning when the league was simply not as competitive and for that he is seen as the greatest, fine. But swap players for when they play and Jordan does NOT win as often in the 2010's. Also, I think LeBron does win as much as Jordan, possibly more because I don't see him retiring at his peak in 93-94.

Have to throw my 2 cents in. Mj is the greatest no doubt. That said the defense in the league is much more complex today. The athletes are much stronger and better conditioned. What almost every player lacks in today's game however, is the knowledge of how to compete. 80's and 90's era players with the rules of the same era would dominate today's game because they played to win. Not to fill the stat sheet, not to make the highlight reel and certainly not for money. They loved the GAME.

yeah the shorts where still short but it was progress from the hot pants that they use to wear just two seasons ago this time and i believe this might of been the first year where the Bulls went to the all black shoes and it would be the following year that the bulls would be the first NBA team that officially wore the baggy shorts that we are accustomed to seeing now a days so there is two groundbreaking trends that the Bulls started and paved the way.
@jumpnam

They actually went to the black shoes the year before, in the '89 playoffs. Brad Sellers suggested it. In '96 Jordan felt they needed a new look, so suggested the black socks for the playoffs. The Bulls were the first NBA team to wear black socks, thus sparking yet another trend that continues to this day :)

@popeyeisgood..the height advantage is significant because to face 6'2 shooting guards two consecutive rounds is almost unheard of. it would be like an elite center being guarded by a 6'7 or 6'8 player. there are maybe one or two SGs in the entire league that are below 6'4 now and Jordan definitely isn't getting the same looks. watch the entire series and the philly one. he can simply rise up and shoot over them because he knows they can never get his shot. these matchups are a SGs dream.

i cant believe people at the age of 34 still claims that jordan was taking advantage of shorter sg. every one who watch jordan games enough will know that the opponents will use almost every possible options( maybe except the center) to defense jordan. bucks might not be defensively the greatest but alvin robertson is one of the best defensive guards at the time. go watch the whole fucking series before commenting on bullshit like that.
@ch53tm
@ch53tm 14 лет назад
@popeyeisgood ...uh except this isn't about unique athletic advantages, it's the fact that Jordan (who has an average height for SG) faced unnaturally short shooting guards in this playoff run. most of the great SGs would enjoy the very same advantage he had, and there is 0 chance of any shooting guard to see defenders of that height in consecutive series today. it's so much easier to get space, work in the post etc in that situation. again, the footage speaks for itself.

@utfanatic2000 Players and teams have always added height to players. Perfect example mis Barkley. He was listed as 6'6" but when he would stand next to MJ you could he was atleast 2" shorter then MJ. Rodman was listed at 6'8" but he was barely taller than MJ was listed as 6'6" in the NBA and 6'5" in college. Another good example is Magic and Larry. They are both listed at 6'9" but Larry is clearly taller. This happens from the NBA to high school.
@ch53tm
@ch53tm 14 лет назад
@utfanatic2000 he was being defended by a guy 4-5 inches shorter. no starting SG in the league is that short now (maybe Gordon but thats it). you can see he can easily just go up and shoot. after this series he was defended by the 6'2 Hawkins, who he could again just simply rise over.

@dmun5587red123 ...except Kobe was defended by Lee and Peitrus. JJ Redick played around 10 minutes a game. I don't know why MJ fans are so quick to scream Kobe when he doesn't have anything to do with what's being posted here. lol at "height doesn't mean anything"...um right, I'm sure shooting guards prefer long 6'6/6'7 defenders over 6'2 ones who have no way of affecting their shot.

@waff1eirontmacsplat true but jordan only had clyde and GP on him thru all of his finals appearances thts worth mentioning. I'm a Jordan fan but come on they had jeff hornasac,shannon brown, brian russle......dont forget dan marley lol Its not that these guys suck its just tht kobe and jordan are to good for them. Honestly if kobe wasnt around the NBA wouldnt be the same. Kobe's a beast take it for what it is.......I mean come on we all know MJ is the best

Why is the crowd cheering for Jordan Traders

Whoops lol. Cant say I've ever done that. I wasn't trying to say MJ wouldn't destroy todays game. He would. Statistically todays players are bigger then the players of yesteryear. And the physical training is much more intense. My point was, the league as a whole is more athletic they just lack the toughness of the old days. Jordan's last year I consider this generations era. That year at 35 he shot 46%...and that was carrying a run down bulls team. Kobe's never shot over 46%

but you comparing a jordan who played in an era where you say isnt as intense physically but if he was born later dont you think he would of been just like the rest now because he would get the same treatment these players of today have...same with the rest of the players that played back then

@utfanatic2000...majerle could never guard SGs, anyone who watched NBA back then knows this. he was fit to guard SFs. Drexler even had the best series of his career against him in '92 iirc.

He would have scored 60 points in this game if only he was not wearing that extra long warmers inside that shorts. And of all colors its white!

No arguments about your Kobe comments. But Alvin Robertson was much better in the mid 80's as a defender. And he was on shit teams. Aside from Gary Payton, MJ didn't face any defenders of note in the finals. The Piston teams were by far the toughest he faced and he owned them. His teammates just weren't up to the task at that time.

Lol, analytics have ruined my ability to watch old games. I can't believe how often they shoot right in front of the 3 point line.

Spacing was the reason for the 3 point line so just remember at least their is some space

@eboooo

@@maxdurk4624 they implemented the 3 point line in 1980 to create spacing on the court. Yes they took it from the ABA but the main benefit was supposed to be space on the court.
@maxdurk4624
@maxdurk4624 4 года назад
Michael Eyob Yeah, but in order for that spacing to actually happen, people would actually have to, you know, stand behind it and shoot from out there?
