he did not play the game because it was game five of the NBA finals and they were won win away from the finals title. His dad got shot and he healed. Even when he was sick he would. He played game five of the NBA finals and they won the finals on Father’s Day and this is what we called the flu game.

It was altitude sickness from traveling back and forth between park city Utah, Chicago, and salt lake. At least thats what the doctors at the time were saying.

But I recently saw an interview with a guy who was covering the bulls that year, and he said multiple doctors were saying it was likely altitude sickness but the "flu game" sounded better than the "altitude sickness from skiing all day at Park City mountain resort during the day game"
