Ive been in india when its been very hot , I didnt realize how important salt was .. I was drinking plenty when I suddenly felt faint , I would have passed out had I not been in company, a shopkeeper gave me a coke and crisps and sat in front of a fan, I thought the crisps was it a little odd .... it happened in a instant very scary - In severe cases, low sodium levels in the body can lead to muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting and dizziness. Eventually, lack of salt can lead to shock, coma and death.

I remember my grandfather saying that as soldiers working in hot conditions in Cyprus they were given salt tablets because sweating all day your body can get low on salt, also diarrhoea can cause low salt. If the conditions are very hot it places stress on your body and even something like a simple stomach upset can potentially become life threatening if your minerals are depleted.

A two hour hike, he was wearing a cap on his head and then an umbrella to keep the sun off him. The cap would have been like an insulator, keeping the heat from his head from escaping. The best hats to wear in hot climates are straw hats with small holes in, so the heat from heads can escape.

Such a sad situation. I'm 67 and sometimes it's hard to accept that even though you may feel fit and healthy your body is no longer youthful and it's capacity for hard work has diminished greatly. When you are older sit in the shade and enjoy cold drinks; let the young do crazy things.

I do find it strange that a Doctor would go for a quite long walk in such extreme heat.We are all told , even in less hot conditions, not to over exert ourselves to stay in the shade and to always carry water. It had been extremely hot the week before so it was not that the heat crept up on him.I am not blaming, I am very sorry for Dr Mosely, his family and friends but it seems an odd thing for a Doctor to do .
@frontenac5083
@frontenac5083 2 месяца назад
I don't think he was planning on such a long walk. Probably he was planning on going from the beach to the nearby village, which he managed to do, and then he thought: "why not walk all the way"? But he greatly underestimated how treacherous the terrain ahead of him was going to be, as well as how much he was maybe already suffering from the heat without realising it, then on top of that he got lost, therefore still lengthening his walk... All of this added up and maybe he also had underlying medical issues, who knows!

The Mayor found him. The barman found him. The cameraman found him. anyone else? How so many people found him so long after he was lost. Dogs, planes, helicopters, drones, infrared cameras, boats, divers. But who really found him?
@deborahcurtis1385
@deborahcurtis1385 2 месяца назад
The mayor was on a boat having just departed the jetty at the resort and he saw something beside the fence and asked the cameraman who was onboard to zoom in on it. They then called the resort who got the barman to look. He went up and then called them back immediately to focus the search there stating the body was indeed found. It's not complicated. They each have described their part in it. The focus of the search was on the other side closer to his intended destination, they weren't expecting him to have taken a wrong turn.

This is very strange: why would he go out and take a walk by himself while on holiday without his mobile phone? Something smells fishy here. I think on holiday it makes sense to not have your phone on with you, IF you are accompanied, if you are not accompanied then taking the phone with you makes sense, just in case. You can always leave it switched off, but what if something happened, the phone is a lifeline. I am heartbroken that he has been found dead. He is one of the reasons I started intermittent fasting, so today my heart goes out to his family! I cannot understand why so many people have left so many nasty comments about him and what happened to him. Some respect is warranted if nothing else to those he left behind.

I find it hard to believe no cause of death was found. Claiming the body was badly decomposed, YET the Coroner could be so remarkably accurate with the time of death at 4pm on the Wednesday, seems somewhat at odds. Surely, internally or from blood tests there must have been indications as to whether he had heart failure or a stroke. I'm assuming a verdict of death by misadventure will be made. A catalogue of unfortunate human errors which culminated in his death.

There are stages of decomposition that have been studied for decades so yes they can pinpoint times of death depending on what stage has been reached. To find out if he had a medical episode needs tests to his blood etc. This is why there are toxicology and histology tests to be done in the coming weeks. If there are no bruises or obvious injuries then no third party involved

Time of death will be based on last sighting and likely explanations, not examination of the remains. Blood tests will not show either of those diagnoses four days after the fact. It is really quite irritating to see this kind of postulation in the obvious absence of any qualifications on which to base an opinion, bordering on being really quite disrespectful.

This actually happened to me almost and not even that old and very healthy. It was when Uk hit 40 degrees I went out in car to a place with woods etc as my flat in London is just too hot and kept driving around trying to find places open but everywhere was either closed early cause or the heat and water was all sold out in this tiny villiage. Every new place I went to just exhausted me a bit more. Even woodland didn’t offer that much shade. I remember just hitting a point I felt I was going to faint and couldn’t stand up. I tried calling 999 but they didn’t take it seriously and told me to get a taxi. I remember I had this watermelon in the car and I somehow managed to cut it open with a key and get a couple of bits into my mouth before just lying down on this log unable to really move. By some sheer luck the weather just suddenly cooled off and maybe I was lacking electrolytes and recovered some from the watermelon but within an hour I felt well enough to drive home. I defo made a lot of mistakes but I can see how you can easily get yourself in a . Situation you can’t rly help yourself anymore. It can come on quite quickly as I didn’t think 40 was really that hot but when your not used to it and can’t access amenities it can get too much for someone used to English weather.

Look at just a single factor here(!). Taking a long walk in the broiling sun at 1:30pm -- the hottest most dangerous time of day. So this ONE single factor amongst several OTHERS -- the ill-fated decision to hike tells you so much. Death by hyperthermic hypernatremic dehydration and heat stroke. Its about coming accustom to those levels of heat. Soldiers have become accustom with TIME and yes, they can then walk around in that heat wearing body armour and all. But take someone, like Mosley, a british guy, his body is used to MUCH lower temperatures. The body cant handle that kind of heat, for a long time, out of nowhere.

Symi does have a water source, we have desalinated water, there are also natural springs, but not enough to keep a population through the very hot summers. The Pedi Valley is the garden of Symi with many small holdings, and veg gardens, it stays lush all year round. Also up in the mountains, there are gardens and large water holes. Plus Symi is very green with trees in these areas. It dies have very baron parts too. You really need to spend time here to understand it’s outstanding beauty.

I loved Dr. Mosley's health experiments, books and programmes . I thought he was great. He was always curious and his followers just have a lot of unanswered questions. Nothing adds up. Dr. Mosley gave ordinary British people hope now when he passed away, all hope gone with him. His death is shocking as it comes across careless and unprepared. Dr. Mosley was wise and always one step ahead......all what happened to him is so much out of his character. And it makes me feel suspicious regardless what anybody else is saying.

Well of course his body shows no signs of foul play if it was so decayed that they can't tell the cause of death but that doesn't mean someone didn't murder him. They better investigate his wife thoroughly because this sounds like a real crime documentary where it looks like the husband was walking in obscene heat, had a heart attack or something and dropped dead... leaving her a hefty life insurance, the house, everything. When they dig deeper they find out she stuck something in his drink before he went for a walk. Hey, it happens... a lot. So don't laugh. If they can't determine the cause of death because of the condition of the body they CANNOT RULE OUT foul play just because there isn't an obvious gunshot wound or smashed skull or something.
