Ciò che più colpisce di questo strepitoso baritenore è la facilità e la bellezza con cui emette sia le note gravi che quelle acute! Ho avuto la fortuna di ascoltarlo recentemente a Roma in un concerto rossiniano a S.Cecilia che ha evidenziato anche la sua "potenza" vocale. Meraviglioso ascolto!!
Oltre ad un range pazzesco ha una facilità e applomb disarmante. Preciso sia vocalmente che musicalmente. Canta senza sforzo e con un gusto che si adduce solo ai grandi. Veramente bravo !!
I'm so glad to see there is a contemporary "Bel Canto Tenor" who is actually worth a damn, and can properly handle the Bravura singing, with full power and range! Haven't heard that since Pavarotti! Bravo, Michael!
Un novello Andrea Nozzari! Dire che Merritt era molto meglio non rende giustizia a questo grandissimo e ancora giovane tenore che con questa interpretazione ha dato saggio preclaro di autentica voce baritenorile rossiniana.
Michael sings this reasonably well compared to some other singers that i have heard but in this production he was outshone by Colin Lee,who has a beautiful voice and sings without apparent effort.Colin appeared in the live transmission yet the ROH has chosen to release a DVD with Michael in the role.Colin announced that he was retiring due to personal reasons earlier this year.His early retirement is a loss to opera fans,you can fund him singing other roles here on YT.

E' più che bravo, è voce eccellente in questi tempi di penuria di cantanti bravi e tramontati.Per me è il migliore, più potente del grande tenore tedesco Fritz Wunderlich , che ancora apprezzo per il suo timbro vocale che meraviglia tuttora, anche per la portata sentimentale ed animosa del suo canto classico-operistico di quei tempi del secolo scorso 1930-66, quando ci lasciò, a 36 anni. This is very difficult music that tenors cannot handle properly these days. He is good, though. I perfer not to compare him with the greats of the (recent) past, such as Merrit, Blake and Matteuzzi, because it would be unfair.
I just would like to point out that neither Blake nor Matteuzzi ever sang that sort of repertoire, which is another reason why a comparison wouldn't really work.
Voz pequeña poco desarrollada lo que da una falta en potencia y con mucho uso del falsetone. Un buen tenor con gran técnica no necesita usar falsetone y puede perfectamente competir en potencia con el coro y la orquesta completa... Para cantar los musicales de Broadway es perfecto.
Escuche a Michael Spyres en 2019 en Frankfurt ( Alemania ) .Su voz no me sono nada pequeña . Todo lo contrario es una voz , redonda , homogenia , de muy buen caudal pareciera flotar en el aire ..Se escucha desde las galerias altas , es resonante . Solo puedo decir que es una voz rara y es lo que la hace tan hermosa y distintiva ..👋👋👋👋👋.Aplausos para este fenomeno Vocal de mi parte ..
Yo tambien lo escuche en USA, canto sin microfono, es una voz muy especial, de gran belleza, ademas de potente, destacaba entre los otros tenores su voz "in Maschera" corria por todo el teatro. su rango vocal de mas de tres octavas, lo hace Unico.
