MJ a "line stepper" ?? Pretty boring life he led.. staying out of trouble. Working long hours in the gym. He gambled on the Golf Course.. one of the few places he could breath and unwind.. Who cares? Michael was firey ? That's good.... My experience with firey teamates who were pulling the right way.. Towards better play.. very positive. MJ not even close to Rick James.

MJ's leadership style wouldn't work in today's NBA because of the way society has shifted. What today they call "toxic masculinity" is what MJ displayed. A very strong, often offensive way of speaking & acting toward those he didn't see were at his level. I'm Oldschool, so I'm perfectly fine with how he spoke & acted, but my nephew reacts completely different than me, because he's growing up in a society where everything MJ stood for (an unapologetic alpha male) is frowned upon in today's Western societies.

He won because he is the greatest player of all time (they tend to win in sports), had a great coach, learned to play with teammates and had a good back office who provided those teammates. I can't say bullying teammates was a key factor. There's two reasons why that style of leadership isn't favoured in team sports today: 1) it is morally wrong and won't be tolerated by people who are more aware of its consequences 2) it is inefficient. Why waste time bullying people to isolate the strong from the weak minded. The strong will succeed and become assets anyway. You want to focus instead on the weak willed because there is talent being discarded just because of an inability to handle pressure from the off. If you work with them to overcome it then you can harness that talent which would otherwise be wasted. I don't think it helps to glorify bullying behaviour or to try to mask it by saying it was a will to win

83 sixers, 86 Celtics, 87 lakers, 89 pistons: They all consistently make the top ten teams of all time conversation. What do they all have in common? They all had to play each other. That’s why the 80’s were the pinnacle of NBA basketball. Jordan is the greatest player of all time but please let’s not compare the Cavs, Pacers, Knicks, Sonics and Jazz in the same breath as those epic teams.

Jordan's teammates were soft and according to themselves, they needed that leadership. I think the most underrated or overlooked aspect of Michael Jordan's story is the quality of his teammates in comparison to the competition. Jordan DID NOT have the talent around him that Magic, Bird, Isiah Thomas Barkley...had on their teams. And he still annahilated the competition by making his teammates freaking better.

This is how jordan made his team mates better. He was the drill sergeant type of a leader who pushed his team mates hard in practice to physically and mentally prepare them for war. So even if he steps out they can still continue to fight and be successful. Unlike a leader wannabe who make it look like he's making his team mates better by telling them where to position and pile up assists. And when he's out of the court his team crumbles bec the system relied too much on him.

MJ may have been harsh and intimidating, at times, but it was necessary, especially during that era of basketball, because of the level of physicality and MJ being the #1 target to take down... his teammates may not have appreciated the stuff that he said towards them but it wasn't meant to hurt them. He did it because he wanted to get under their skin and reveal that side of aggression and that's what elevated their level of play! It was a recipe of success and it didn't just work out for MJ but for Kobe as well, they both had that same killer instinct and drive to win that it made their teammates better and the reward speaks for itself.

They wouldn't have gotten past the Pistons if he didn't push them and make mentally tougher.

Jordan had to carry the Bulls teams for 6 years by himself until Pippen developed into an all star caliber. Then MJ and SP combo was able to win championships starting 1991. If you look at the Bulls rosters during the championship years…they had more white guys on the teams than the Boston Celtics in the National Black Association league. I am not trying to be a racist but I just looked at facts. In general, Black Players are stronger, more athletic, more skillful and more physical than the white players. Larry Bird is a rare beast! So I don’t blame MJ to be tough on his teammates to get where they needed be. MJ had to build the mental and physical toughness on his team in order to counter the Detroit Bad Boys, the Celtics, the rough Knicks, The Pacers, Orlando Magic….then Lakers, Trail Blazers, Suns, Super Sonics, Jazz. My kids are not championship level and yet I have to be tough on them so they can conquer their exposures in real life. Suck up buttercups, if you aren’t capable of roughing yourself up, then somebody else will. Those teams in the old days did not stand around to watch MJ and SP going in for slam dunks like the teams are watching LeBron and giving LeBron a clear lane today. They tackled and hacked MJ/SP from the foul line to under the basket. Think what you will…MJ never lost in all 6 Championship Series with limited personnel along the way…He is clearly the GOAT if we are having that discussion today!

You are lacking comprehension ant trying to pull a race card needlessly. MJ punching Kerr happened in 95 before the 95-96 season. There is no footage of that. This is Last Dance footage or 97-98 season. Capish?
