Mick Fanning Wins Legendary Heat Vs. Kelly Slater & John John Florence - Billabong Pipe Masters 2015 

I can't believe how long ago this was already. Mick is retired. Kelly is still doing unprecedented things for a athlete of his age, and John John looks like he's finally shaken off the injury bug and is in top form once again.

Kelly’s last wave definitely should’ve gotten the score, super critical airdrop right into the pit and then gets absolutely spat out of the pit standing up.

I don't know anything about surfing scores, but I was there for this and I think this was the heat when Mick Fanning dropped in a perfect run, one of the longer barrel runs all week that I was there. It was like slow motion. But who cares, it was all beautiful!

WSL....Please give MIck Fanning the title already...And stop pretending that you are having a competition. That is what you want. Mick Always gets over scored, Kelly got robbed with the win of this heat. Not to mention that Felipe Toledo also got eliminated thanks to the judges clearing the way for MIck... Have to give credit to Kelly after the heat he got robbed, giving credit and support to Mick for all the personal issues he is going threw. Master Kelly you are the true Champion of the people.

Im gonna have to respectfully disagree. I watched this 5 times and i just dont see how mick is the winner of this heat.

So I watched this twice and then once again and scored it. Fanning 2.0, 6.0, 2.8, 6.5, 8.0, JJohn 1.8, 5, 3, 9.0, Slater 2.1, 7, 8.5, 8.9. There is no way Fanning won. Slater crushed him. This has been a pattern all year, Fanning being overscored. I wouldn't be surprised if WSL was investigated for corruption before long. Then again, when the chief commentator Ronnie Blakey is also Fanning's manager, something ain't right. I'm renaming the WSL The True Fanman Show. It's obviously about Mick and nothing else, and we are all suckers for thinking otherwise.

Anyone who really surfs know Mick had help from the judges on that heat! I was watching the entire heat from start to finish and everyone was like wow what an overscored wave! WSL really lost me as a fan after that season. WSL also fires commentators who disagree with judges scores which is such a shame! We need unbiased commentators who give their personal opinion and commentary not pre programmed mind numbing nodding of the head! If it was an overscored wave call them out! If someone was robbed call them out! The judges aren't perfect I know they are doing the best they can but come on trying to avoid controversy and banning the disputing of judges scores is just plain ridiculous!

Only 8.3 for the last ride is a joke. Its as though the judges treat surfing like golf & handicap some of the surfers, especially Kelly. If a lesser well known surfer had charged the same wave, there’s no question it would be at least a 9.
